Chapter 14: Remembrance
"Delicious, I always love eating the Abirion steak which is actually in season right now if you want to go hunting for it when we get to the Falx Empire?" I ask as I lick my lips making sure I don't miss a single bit of the food.
"It really was delicious, I don't think I ever tasted anything as such back on Earth!" Sarah also agrees with my statement, but ignores the hunting part.
"Well I guess I can get back to the story, lets see where should I begin. Ah yes lets go to where my part was right before my race was destroyed. Just a month before the Order of Chaos had attacked my home world and our race's entire military fleet, my fleet which included this ship and eight other ships of similar class that were under my command had gone out to scout for enemy movements. Unluckily we had met the enemy's entire command fleet that was on it's way to Alvania, which was our home world. Before we could send anyone back to warn of the impeding doom, the enemy ships opened fire. We tried to fight back, but there was just too many enemy ships. My fleet was completely destroyed leaving only my ship heavily damaged with large amounts of my crew dead. After eradicating all the other ships, they boarded mine and killed all of the crew while taking me prisoner. We fought back but there was just too many of them to hold off from, when they took me prisoner, they also towed the Evanescent behind one of their capital ships. While I was their prisoner, they tortured me for no reason except for fun. They never asked anything and just kept doing as they pleased to my body leaving it completely scarred forever. The worst part was when they made me watch as they destroyed my people's armada of ships, and fired down upon the planet making it completely uninhabitable."
I take a sip of water, and clear my throat before continuing.
"It was especially tough when I saw my Father's ship the Indomitable explode from taking too much damage, they also showed the moment where my elder brothers Fighter ship was overwhelmed by enemy fighters and I saw his demise also. My wife and son were within the capital city at the time when they bombarded the planet, which offically made me the last surviving member of our entire race on that fateful day."
I look over to see Sarah already crying like a baby while staring at me with pity as if I was a broken man.
"Sniffle--Sniffle, I'm surprised to see that your not breaking into tears, Zen?" Sarah asked me while trying to calm down and wipe the tears from her face.
"Well it did happen over 2.3 billion years ago, if I kept dwelling on that ever since I might have gone truly insane after all this time. I decided it would have been healthier for myself if I just accepted what happened and put it at the back of mind while doing whatever to pass the time."
"Wow, I don't really know what it's like to live that long, but if I had ever experienced something as terrible as that and survived, I doubt I could remain sane."
"Well it helped when I killed a bunch of the Demons and Leviathans. Even though I did not get to participate in that final battle between the Gods and the Order of Chaos, I did kill any surviving Demons that I came across. In actuality the war still pretty much continued down the ages, just on a much smaller scale and it involved most of the minor races. Take your planet for example, when I was looking through the data on the internet, I found out about all the Gods and Demons that existed in the religions on your planet. I correlated that with a device I had built that can scan for the exact DNA sequence of Demons and Gods, to see if I can ever find any survivors on planets I travel to."
"Wait, how does something like that work, and what did you find? Did Gods and Demons actually exist on Earth?" Sarah completely taken with curiousity asked me.
"Well the machine tooka lot of rare minerals to built but the rarest piece is in the center or heart of the machine which contains the brains of one Royal grade Demon and one Supreme grade God, it also had the heart of dying star placed inside to power it. I can use it to scan planets and find if there is any being containing the genetic code of either Demons or Gods. I found out throught the correlation of the scan and your internet, that in fact most of those Gods and Demons in all of the religions did in fact exist. Of course they are all dead now, either from old age or from battle, of which I do not know. From what I could gather, the only supreme God, was one that named himself "God" in the religion called Christianity, same goes for the Royal grade Demon named "Satan". I don't know why all these different Demons and Gods had gathered on Earth but they have all died out long ago."
"Wait you mean even those Gods in Greek mythology and Norse mythology were real?"
"Yes, that Zeus and Odin were definitely of the True God rank while some big villains in the story such as Hades and Loki were actually Noble rank Demons. And before you ask, yes they were most likely really related. It was not uncommon for many Demons and Gods to be related as many Gods had fallen to the demonic side and many Demons changed to the righteous side of the Gods."
"Wow, that's a lot to take in! I can't believe that all of the gods actually existed at one point, does that mean all those heroic and crazy story's existed that was written in folklore and books?" she inquisitively asked me.
"That I cannot confirm as I would have had to been there to know, most likely some truth exist but many beings that can't comprehend what exactly is happening like to exxagerate or glorify what happened."
"I will tell you that, if there were any Demons left on that planet; I would have hunted them all down and slaughtered them!" I say in a dark tone, that even sent shivers down Sarah's back.
"Well that's enough for today; I talked my head of for almost an entire day. So I'll be heading to bed, you should also get some sleep. Oh by the way we start you training tomorrow." I casually say before heading out of her room only to walk across the hall to mine.
