Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Ancestors

As he walked through the city, a few meters behind the man, he noticed curious faces peeking behind closed windows. All of them had similar blue runes running through their faces. Their eyes were golden and if one looked close enough, a magic circle could be seen.

"Don't be scared child of Rukia, as we are followers of the goddess Rukia. We have long awaited your return."

The man spoke not expecting an answer from Oberon who just silently followed him.

Reaching a large stone house they entered. The interior was far plainer than he expected.

There was only a wooden table a few chairs and mana lamps around.

"Take a seat, and let us talk about the future of this land."

Oberon looked hesitantly at the man who just sat down on the carpeted floor.

After a few seconds of silence, Oberon finally sat in front of him.

"First let me introduce myself, I am Rekhu Perius Sakata, the former king and founder of the Sakata empire, and a pure-blooded Rukha."

The race of Rukha was the first one to discover magic as their innate powers were so far attuned to mana that they essentially were being with mana flowing inside their bodies. But through mingling with other kinds, their bloodline slowly diluted and diminished. Till the pure-blooded Rukha's almost died out. But the bloodline stayed strong in Sakata due to Rukhia's influence. Sakatan people prospered, and many sought to even get a single drop from them. But it was nowhere near the potency of their ancestors as even a single drop from their blood could power an entire mana-enchanted house for years.

The information send a chill down Oberon's system as his programming instantly realized that he was in front of a Sakatan royal, and his body moved before he could even realize it.

Seeing Oberon suddenly kneeling in front of him, Rekuh sighed and smiled sadly.

"So the royals still doubted Rukias children and shackled them. You may have broken a few chains, but your main system could never disobey a Sakatan royal. What cruel thing they have done to the goddess's children."

Oberon felt his core tighten and his body shiver, lose sand dropped to the ground as he saw the man in front of him abroach him and put a hand on his chest.

For the first time in his life, he felt fear... no it was worse, he felt dread.

"Those shackles are not needed anymore child, as only Rukia should be able to command her children."

Oberon could feel a small drip of mana enter his body, then a small stream, and then a wave of pure essence crashed into him.

The essence felt familiar. It made Oberon feel nostalgic, but he couldn't put his core where he felt it before.

But then it clicked.

He felt that essence when he was first created. It was his "mother's" touch. Rukia's divine energy.

The Oberon's head got fuzzy but it cleared just as quickly.

The potent energy folded his system and his very being.

Even Rekhu looked at Oberon dumbfounded, as he retracted his hand. He only wanted to release the shackles his descendants put on him, but to think that Rukia herself would bless Oberon with her essence. He suspected that the sand golem in front of him could be the prophecized one. But to think it's true was unexpected.

And to Oberon's surprise, he kneeled down and prayed. But he ignored his frantic mumbling as a notification appeared.

[Oberon, 11077th child of mine, you have done well till now, but it is time for you to fulfill your duty. Reclaim the land you lost. Rebuild it to its former glory. Repel the foreign conquerors. And most important of all, stay safe my child. You may experience hardships during your journey but never forget that I am watching over you.]

The message from his "mother" stunned him. He sometimes felt that someone was watching him but he dismissed it as his system degrading over time. If he could cry he would be now out of joy and relief.

But he also wondered why she never intervened as he watched his comrades slowly die. He didn't blame Rukia, as there surely was some restriction or reason behind her action.

[System Update!]

(Author's note: Everywhere where there is an "!" indicates a change in the status.)

But with the message, his statues got forcefully opened showing him the results of what the essence did to him.

The first thing he noticed was that his system now displayed his name, it may be small compared to the other changes, but it meant that he got Ruka's acknowledgment. Even his type changed into Rukia's General, a type that was never heard of.

And with the type change, he gained her blessing. He already had almost unlimited energy due to the origin cube, but now with the blessing and the origin cube fussing with his body, he couldn't imagine ever running out of energy.

Those were all system-shattering to Oberon but the change from vital sand to Holy Sand and the number under his command and claimed territory send him in a momentary daze.

Rekuh who was praying suddenly felt a jolt running through his body.

Oberon watched as he spasmed and fell to the ground.

...

(6-month time skip)

Oberon walked through the hallways of the Rukia Castle, but now all the surrounding was cleaned up, the building looked pristine, the soil where flowers and trees grew flourishing, and the ground ethereal glow to it.

Buildings, streets, and infrastructure all littered around the castle as the place was slowly being rebuilt by the people with the help of the golems he was gifted by his "mother".

Oberon sat on the highest tower looking far into the desert where the harsh wind blew around, all but avoiding this place as a barely golden dome covered the castle and the nearby landscape.

A lot has changed in the span of 6 months.

Young children were playing and running around as the adults tended to the few farms that they set up.

"Are you enjoying the view again, my liege?"

Hearing the voice of his first subordinate and right-hand golem he nodded. "Yes, Alpha. This place turned out even better than I imagined."

The two continued to watch the people, the Rukhas that followed him, breathing life into the castle again. And with enough time the Sakata Empire, or as Oberon renamed it Rukharion empire, will be back to its former glory.

"How are the things on our new guest on the far south?" Asked Oberon as he saw a group of farmers walking by a golem and slightly bowing to it as they walked past.

"They have managed to build up a temporary settlement, but are struggling for food and water. The rough climate dwindled their forces and weakened them, but they are far more advanced than we anticipated. The outside world isn't the barbaric tribe anymore. But they have lost touch with their gods and only a few have their blessings."

"Hmm..." Oberon let out a hum as he watched his status.

Holy Sand Capacity: 50%

Under Command: 22/300

Claimed Territory: 2/100

He used up 50% of his holy sand to "bless" the ground and soil around the area. But in contrast to the core and vital sand holy sand can't be regenerated, instead, he has to find blessed artifacts or places and convert them to holy sand to restock.

With the 20 new golems he created and the new denizens the small place now housed a little under 200 persons, and it will probably stay that for a while as fertility is pretty low.

As for why he didn't create more sand golems, well, he hasn't found a way to "resurrect" the cores in the tomb room. The 20 golems all stamped from Rukhia using her divine powers, but due to overuse and overstepping the boundary from interacting with the mortal plain, she fell into a deep slumber from which she wouldn't awake any time soon.

"Tell Beta to send 2 golems and scout their region, but don't let them get spotted."

Hearing the command of his creator Alpha bowed. "Yes, my liege!"

Excusing himself Alpha swiftly went to accomplish the task.

Oberon let out a sigh and stared at his star in the sky while whispering to himself. "I told you not to call me liege."

Well, I didn't plan it as a Kingdome building novel, but it somehow wrote itself so here you have it.
