Chapter 11: A Girl's thought
Continuing on the road, Fia looked inside the carriage, seeing Haruto and Elsie chatting with each other, giggling. She glanced at Haruto and immersed in her thought.
That night after dinner in her home back then, she also noticed the abnormality of her younger brother and intended to talk to him.
On the way she spotted Haruto making his way to Ent's room just like him and somehow unconsciously she hid her presence and followed him while maintaining the distance.
Perhaps Haruto too was focusing his mind on Ent that he didn't realize Fia was following behind him otherwise he may had detected her.
Standing near his room she eavesdropped on their conversation and was really shocked about what her brother was thinking.
She never thought that he was secretly hiding such feelings.
Until now she always thought that such things were natural since she's the oldest one among the siblings. Her mother had always worked hard selling cakes or snacks made by her to earn money for them.
Her father left them when Nip was just born, she was 8 years old at that time. That father never cared much about them and very rarely at home. When she or Ent was trying to talk to him he always ignored them or replied coldly with emotionless face.
Fia hated her father very much. Even now she already did not remember much about his appearance, what she's sure was that he's a foxman just like her and Ent. She always wondered why her mother married such a guy but she just smiled vaguely and refused to answer. That's why they were living quite harshly, their saving grace were their love for each other, just having them be healthy and always together made Fia happy.
But even so she wanted to make her family live more comfortably. There's no one inside her family that could fight too in order to protect themselves.
Since she's always wanted to become an adventurer she decided to learn how to fight. Their neighbor was a retired adventurer so she asked to be taught about basic knowledge of adventurer and fighting.
Years passed and she grew stronger, experiencing 5 [Growth]s in just a short 5 years. She's now a green rank adventurer, a very rare case for a remote town like Calad.
But since Calad was a minor town she couldn't improve her family condition that much and learning about other places in the world from foreign adventurers that came to the town ignited her desire to travel around the world and improving herself more along with her family.
Maybe someday she would find her father too. She would show him her achievements and what became of the family that he abandoned of. She really wanted to make him regret to the death.
But if he ended up dead when she found him then she wouldn't care that much either.
Ent seemed to be stunned that Haruto figured out his feelings.
'How did you..?' he asked.
'I know, of course i know about it because I too once the same as you.'
Fia's eyes opened wide when Haruto said that. She was thinking again back when he revealed himself to be an otherworlder.
Since Haruto said that he didn't have a family in this world then perhaps he meant about his previous family, or so she thought. But how could that be? Otherworlder shouldn't be have that much memories to remember their previous relatives.
She realized that Haruto still hiding some things from her but in the end she didn't care that much, everybody had their rights to keep secrets even she herself did the same. But still that didn't mean she's not curious, she just hope someday she and him would tell everything about themselves.
The conversation between them continued and Ent expressed his desire strongly while Haruto had accepted to help him.
The next morning they went to a nearby empty field, the same place Fia trained when she's younger. Fia followed them again and this time Haruto noticed her but he didn't seem to mind that.
"Alright Ent since I've accepted you as my disciple you're now a student of Turtle School Martial Arts Style. You have to work hard so you won't disgrace our school." Haruto said crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Yes, I'll do my best Shishou!"
Haruto nodded 'Umu' satisfied with his answer.
"Since we don't have much time I'll just each you the method of training and showing you some techniques to learn. First look at this.
Haruto extended his palm and released a ki shockwave, destroying a few trees in front of him.
"This is a basic ki technique, I'm sure you know about ki right?"
"Yes, I've heard from my sister and the uncle next to our house."
"Good. Now I'll show you an advance technique for utilizing ki attacks."
Haruto cupped his hands to his side while bending his waist a little. From his hands a blue energy sphere was formed and grew brightly.
"Haaa!!"
He thrusted his hands upwards, unleashing a blue energy beam that pierce into the sky. Ent saw that happened with his eyes opened wide.
"This is the signature move of Turtle School, it's called Kamehameha."
"...."
Ent stood there unmoving, his eyes still look upwards in daze.
"Ent?"
"A"
"A?"
"AMAZINGGG!!"
Haruto was taken aback from his sudden outburst with "Oooh?" in his face.
"You said it's called Kamehameha? That's really cool Shishou!! Can I do that too!?"
His eyes were shining brightly as if just saw his dream superhero.
In fact Fia too was amazed to see that technique again. It was the same attack he used back on the giant boar.
"Of course you can, but you need to work hard for it." He nodded.
"YOSHAAA!! LET'S DO THIS!" Ent said while clenching both his hands with unbelievable spirit in his eyes.
'Didn't his character just change somehow?' Was what both Haruto and Fia's thought with their face convulsing.
After that until the next few days, he proceed to teach him about the learning method of ki control and meditation technique. He also taught a few tricks that will be useful in a fight that's not hard to learn like Solar Flare or the Afterimage Technique (Zanzōken).
He also sparred with him to teach him some fighting techniques. He just focused on avoiding his attacks though, and at the end of the day Ent never managed to land a single hit and ended up laying on his back, exhausted.
Before they left on the final day he talked to Ent after they finished sparring.
"I've teach you what I could for this few days, the rest is up to your effort."
"...Yes...I'll..do..my..best..!" Ent said while gasping for breath.
"When I came again with your sister here I will have you show me your progress. If you did well I will give you the Turtle School Uniform." Haruto said smiling gently.
Ent was shocked and his eyes turned moist while he shouted,
"UNDERSTOOD SHISHOU!!"
Fia's eyes were wet too and she dropped a few tears on her face while holding her mouth with her hands.
Back on the carriage Fia continued her glanced at Haruto, her eyes reflected his figure in daze.
"Hm? What's wrong Fia?" Haruto noticed her gaze and inquired.
"-!? I, It's nothing!!" She quickly averted her eyes while blushing fiercely. Her heart was beating very fast and she kept sneaking glanced at him.
"F, Fia-san! Your front! Your front!" Elsie said panicking.
"Fue~? Oh no!!"
Their horse went off road and their carriage almost crashed to nearby trees. Fia quickly controlled the horse and went back to the road.
The journey to the capital continued.
