Chapter 10: Benefits Of The Change

'What's going on with my body,' Emrys screamed in his mind.

Emrys started touching his face weirdly as if he was a mannequin. He felt that the change was unreal.

'Did the chaos somehow affect the cells in my body changing my appearance? Was this an awakening of some sort?'

All types of questions, theories, and conclusions came to Emrys. He was truly flabbergasted and unsure of what happened, but who could blame him

Amid Emrys's thoughts, he stopped overloading himself with questions and ideas. He closed his eyes completely clearing his mind. He was calm now and could think straight.

He took deep breaths to relax and calm down even more. He needed to be in the best state of mind to try to comprehend what just happened. Opening his eyes he resumed his thoughts, but one at a time.

'If my current changes are due to magic, there has to be a way I can check my body with magic. All I need to do is just think with a clear head…ahh'

Something sparked up in his memory. It seemed like a vague memory had reappeared in his mind.

Ever since Emrys was reborn he felt that something was a little off with his mind and soul. He could remember most stuff clearly, but other stuff he would have to consecrate to remember.

In his soul form after death, he couldn't remember everything clearly as 1000 years is a long time, so he would have vague memories of the people's lives, but not all their techniques and powers. He concluded that his memories would be more clear when he gets older as his body right now is too small to contain a big soul with too much knowledge.

Right now Emrys felt as if he could recollect his memories more. It's as if most of his memories were returning to the surface of his consciousness instead of being deep down. Although most memories are recollected the memories after his death are not all there, just part of it.

"My breathing technique from my past life. If I can use it to see the life force of others, giving me vision. Why can't I do that to check my body? But it will only be able to give me a vague look. I need to incorporate it with something," Emrys mumbled to himself looking down.

The technique he was thinking about is using is the one he made to help his blindness in his past life. He called it the Immortal Breath. It helped him sense people's life force.

He hadn't thought of that technique since he came to this world as the consequences of the technique. Magic is way better than a technique that acts as a poison, slowly killing you.

'Chaos is life force as it is the energy that is everywhere. Although I couldn't remember the techniques in the millennium of the other world. I do remember that they could check their bodies by using a magic spell as eyes going into the body to see everything. I can try using chaos as eyes as it's similar to life force and I relatively have an affinity to life force because of my old technique. The risk though.'

The only way for Emrys to check his body is to use chaos as his eyes. Even though he might slip up and experience the same pain from before. Just thinking about the pain brings the feeling of it.

This was the only solution to want he wants to do. The only way he can check his body internally is by taking that risk.

He had to first mentally prepare himself just in case he slips his control over chaos again.

"It's time," Emrys said to himself closing his eyes.

He had theoretically made the sensing technique, he just needs to try the technique.

This time unlike when he sensed mana, aether, and chaos, he didn't sit in a meditative position. Although he still needed to have a certain rhythm when breathing.

Like when he first sensed chaos, it encompassed all his senses. Continuing with the next step he slowly attracted a small amount of chaos. It was a small orb of condensed chaos.

Emrys moved the chaos steadily inside his body, starting from his chest. It entered his chest. Although in his body he still couldn't see anything as hasn't finished executing his technique yet.

Emrys had to send some of the chaos up to his eyes. To link the chaos with his vision so he could see.

A few seconds later, it worked. Emrys was now able to the insides of his body. He could see his meridians, his organs, veins, dantian, and even the flow of energy in his body.

Now being able to see his internal body he checked every junction of his body, which only took a couple of minutes.

'Inverse worked. All 36 meridians plus an extra one make it 37. Five meridians in each leg and arm, twelve in my upper torso, one in each foot and hand, and the last one in my head. One more meridian than I knew. At least I was right about my dantian being there but just hidden.'

Emrys named the sensing technique inverse. All of Emrys's theories and ideas were right except for an unexpected 37th meridian. The dantian was right where it was said, in the center of the stomach but just hidden.

'The size of my meridians and veins seem big for my body's age. They're almost the size of an adult meridian and vein thickness. My dantian is also as big as an adult's and is visible despite my body being five years old.'

Emrys's meridians were thick and sturdy, which makes them capable of holding lots of mana than the normal child.

Including the change of Emrys's meridians and dantian, his blood and veins were different colors. They were a dark shade of red almost purple. Even though the blood was a dark shade it had a bright shiny attribute about it.

Upon discovering the different colors of blood in his veins Emrys was stunned but decided to stay calm concluding it was the influence of chaos slipping into his blood.

To Emrys since his blood change, it had to be the cause of the change to his hair and eyes. It was the only reason to his knowledge.

One realization came to Emrys's mind. He disregarded every at that moment. He even stopped his body sensing.

Emrys realized the benefits of these changes. The first is being able to cultivate as his dantian can be seen and used and his meridians are strong enough to house mana. The second and last benefit is that when unclogging the meridians it will be easier as they are stronger and sturdier.

Just thinking of what Emrys was capable of, an evil meticulous grin appeared on his face. He was plotting his rise to power in his mind.

"Teheheheheh!" Emrys laughed playfully.

Emrys was thinking of starting his path of a mage now. As the saying goes if you start early you will be a master in the future, instead of starting on time and being a master at your deathbed.

"No, I must be patient for the strongest benefits and results," Emrys mumbled to himself.

A change in plans was needed for the utmost strength in the future. A minor setback is nothing. If he could gather chaos instead of mana his power would be way above any other normal mage.

Even though Emrys's meridians and veins are almost as strong as an adult he needed an extra precaution. He didn't know how much pain it would bring to use chaos instead of mana. Books said there was already a slight pain using mana to clear the meridians. So if he used chaos who knows what would happen to Emrys.

Even though there is a risk of Emrys's meridians being crippled due to the chaos making him unable to be a mage forever, the reward is worth more than the risk.

If kids are normally allowed to sense mana at the age of eight, Emrys will wait till he turns eight to gather chaos. If he wanted to clear his meridians with mana and cultivate he could start now as his meridians are strong enough.

By eight his meridians and veins should be on par with adults. So until then, he will just focus on strengthening his body and training his sword techniques.

"I need some sleep. I'm so tired and mentally exhausted," Emrys yawned covering his mouth with his hand.

Emrys was both mentally and physically exhausted. After trying to experiment with chaos, sensing the different aether, mana, and chaos, going through so much pain, passing out, and using inverse it had been a long day. A long and exhausting day indeed it was.

The sun was starting to set and the moon was beginning to welcome itself in the starry night sky. It was about the time to settle down in his bed and catch some z's.

Everyone needs their beauty sleep, especially children.
