Chapter 1: The Dying Planet

It is year 3099, Earth or Terra as we called it now are dying, came as of a no surprise really. We only knew how to take and not to give, our arrogance made us who we are. An apex predator against other species even against our own, lucky for us some of the brighter one made us an invention that better our lives,
"No need to fight each other, all of us can share" he said.
A smart solution for animal perhaps, but not to us, we live to possess what we couldn't and to take what we shouldn't, it is simply in our gene. it is all what came as my conclusion from all the history lessons and books i've read in my years of school as a genetically modified human.
Whatever those scientist did, it made us stronger,faster,bigger, taller and far more reactive than even the best of us, i said 'us' alot, but did they even view 'myself' as one of them?. Did i view myself the same as them?. Too many question that no one would answer. I guess it beats having no question at all, no wonder the doctors on board said
"it will help you for your journey to come"
It's a late introduction, but its better than never. my name is Resthad York and its my first time stepping inside a spaceship. i would like to say something along the lines
'my friends would be jealous', unfortunately all of my so called friends are aboard the ship.
Our mission to find a new habitable planet full of resource we need, and kill everything that stands in our way, again no surprise there. Am i confident? I don't know. Human fear the unknown. I don't have fear. Our modified gene made it possible, we gain so much from it.
But we also lose some, our emotion so to speak, it differs between each person, i cant speak for others, but i lost my fear, is it a boon or a curse, i don't know. But know this i value my life very much, its been 20 years since i've born and i value every single time i spent.
Even at that one time i flirt with this beautiful scientist, she seems to like my approach, or my body from the way she look at me, in this matter we are very much human, i mean i am. did i with her?, unfortunately no.
Apparently she's married. No wonder i feel attracted. It's probably from the lack of motherly love. And so it ended up with me getting punished for it by cleaning the school bathroom,what is even the purpose of mopping the bathroom and where did the teacher get this relic of the past mop what is this year 2000?, its all automated and full of robotic and cleaning sensors anyway.
Must've been the surveillance camera, one of these days. I swear.
