Chapter 2: A Silent Life

Chapter 02- A Silent Life

The name of the village is Cramantra which existed for many generations alone, isolated from the rest of the world.

The location of this small village never allowed the small tribe living here to come into contact with the outside world.

At the south of the village is the vast sea called the Volcanic Ocean and from all three remaining directions it is covered by the forest called Green Ash.

The vastness of the sea and the dangers of the forest kept them within this small area.

In the south of the village just a mile away is the small hut built by the avatar, where he lived alone, away from the rest of the village.

Hundreds of big boulders circled the village, creating this place as a strong fortress to fight against the wilderness from the green ash forest.

And now the avatar is approaching the village slowly, big boulders coming into his view.

Once he reached the near, he saw a figure standing on the top of one of the boulders, directly looking in his direction.

He could recognize such a figure from miles away, he was Karna.

Once Karna saw that the avatar had finally come to meet them, he picked the horn and blew.

The sound of horn reached throughout the village, and as the karn was done with this task he jumped step by step from the boulder and ran toward the avatar.

Asha walking beside the avatar sprinted toward the karn and as they approached close. Asha jumped on the karn.

Karn grabbed her and hugged her. And then looked at the avatar and nodded.

Avatar returned the nod with his nod and indicated Karn to lead the way.

Karn turned and started entering the village through the big gap in between the two boulders with Asha in his arms.

Avatar followed him and entered the village, as he entered he saw many small houses built with rocks and wood and fire lanterns hanging on some.

And outside the houses, he saw many people standing looking at him.

These people had a distinct physical appearance, robust build, prominent brow ridges, and stocky limbs.

They looked completely different from normal human beings.

They were the Neanderthals, the closest ancient humans.

And Karna, despite being the born child of Neanderthal parents, always looked like a normal human being.

Karn, who was leading the path, continued walking and the avatar followed behind him.

Behind them the members of this village followed him, happiness evident on their faces, some had wide smiles on their faces, some the silent faces and some had tears flowing out of their eyes.

It is what they always wanted, to at least honor their savior even if it is for just one time.

All members of the tribe exited their house and saw Avatar walking in front of them, once both reached the center of the village, Karna stopped and the same did the Avatar.

He stood there silent, one by one all the villagers formed a circle around him and after some time Karna joined the circle of people as well.

Avatar stood there unmoving observing the faces of everyone.

After some time an old man with the support of a thick stick with many kinds of tribal ornaments approached toward him.

He was the chief of the village, Chief Kata stood in front of him and then he lifted a thick stick with both hands and kneeled with his both legs, lifting the stick he shouted

"Traata"

Sound roared into the night, vibrating the eardrums of everyone.

One by one everyone started to kneel on both legs,

Every Neanderthal that was present there started shouting the same word again and again,

"Traata"

'Traata"

"Traata"

Karna kneeled as well and started shouting

"Traata"

"Traata"

Despite previously from modern society, he followed the ritual, a ritual that was held in honor of their hero.

To him, the avatar was not just a person who saved the village from monsters that emerged from the green ash.

Six years after his rebirth, he was shivering in a small cave, terrified of what had just unfolded.

It was just a normal walk outside the village with his parents when the wolves attacked.

His parents sacrificed themselves to allow him to escape.

Even if he lived a previous life, he never experienced such events, a memory of his parents fighting the wolves, wolves' claws tearing through the skin kept on repeating in his mind.

The mouth of the cave, light coming through it looked scary to him, he kept on looking towards it hoping, his parents entered through it by killing all those wolves but after a long time, he saw him enter through the the cave, blood all over his body, missing left hand and a broken blade with crimson cloth tied at the broken end in his right hand.

Even many days after the incident, he kept on coming inside that small cave, he did not know why he was doing it but inside that cave, all he knew was that he lost his parents, and he lost all the strength that permeated into his body.

The dreams he developed in his mind of going on adventures, attaining supernatural abilities, and living the best life with his loved ones, but now those he loved after coming into this world are gone, a shattered dream haunted his mind.

Maybe that small cave closed him there from the world outside, stopped him from imagining.

Once he again saw a figure entering the cave with his missing left arm but there was no blood all over his body this time nor did he hold the broken blade.

He approached the Karna looked at him with his deep black eyes and said

"The world does not look at the past, it always moves towards the future and we can do nothing but walk with it,

our soul looks at us and we grab its hand maybe with a little smile on our face"

These words pierced through his soul, making Karna look at the black abyss-like eyes, face devoid of any emotions deeply for the first time.

These words were not some profound  words, nor did they have a deep meaning but Karna knew from whose mouth such words escaped,

Words to not give up on this life came out of the mouth of someone who had already given up on his own life,

The words more than anyone he needed himself.

He kept looking at his face, observing everything from nose to ears to eyebrows, forehead

"Come with me, I have prepared your favorite food"

Karna stood up without any delay and started walking behind him until they reached the small hut built away from the village near the shore.

Once he took the sit on the ground, avatar served him the khad meat,

A dish in which meat is seasoned and wrapped fully with chapatis and then again wrapped by many large leaves and cooked underground with coal made from burning wood.

He started eating and kept on eating, tears flowed out of his eyes,

He cried and kept on crying for a long time.

—---

And now he is kneeling in front of the person he admired.

"Traata"

"Traata"

After chanting in unison, Chief Kata stood up and gestured for everyone to stand up.

Everyone stood up and stopped the shouting and stood in silence looking at the chief of the village.

Chief Kata grabbed the big sharp tooth from his pocket, letting the support stick fall onto the ground,

He grabbed the canine tooth tightly in his right hand and made a long cut on his left palm.

Blood gushed out of the cut, dripping on the ground.

Approaching Avatar he asked

"What do you wish for?"

Avatar stood there silent, he watched the emotions of the people around him again and again and then he turned toward Karna and said

"You take it, it belongs to you"

Karna replied calmly

"No, it always belonged to you, brother"

"Don't you always want to go on adventure, why don't you take it?"

Karna replied without losing the smile on his face,

"Then brother lets go on the adventure together"

Avatar was silent looking at Karna, then he looked at the chief standing in front of him, and then he looked at everyone around him, he saw the different kinds of emotions on their faces,

"These emotions never belonged to me"

Avatar turned around and started walking away, villagers did not stop him, they opened up a path for him.

Anant left the village and started walking toward his home, he heard footsteps approaching him from behind,

He stopped and looked behind, it was Karna

"The world does not look at the past, it always moves towards the future and we can do nothing but walk with it....

"Remember these words, it is what you said to me, but why are wasting your life here, why are you not heading towards the future, does your soul not look at you,

Answer me why are you stuck here"

Karna waited for a long time for a response but no answer came,

He sighed and let go of the Asha in his arms, the cat jumped and ran towards the avatar.

Karna turned and entered the village again.

Avatar walked towards his small hut again but this time the words of someone kept resurfacing in his mind again and again,

'[How many can die in your arms before you grow numb to death,

How many dead eyes can you look into before you die inside yourself]'

Words kept echoing in his ears until he reached the hut.

Inside the hut, he took the rest with the support of the wall and closed his eyes,

Asha climbed on him and lay on his lap, after some time avatar noticed she had fallen asleep.

After some time he had fallen into sleep as well.

Suddenly his eyes opened, it was not a nightmare or bad sleep,

He looked around the inside of the room,

Asha was not here,

He quickly grabbed the broken blade and exited the hut,

Once he looked up in the sky, the moon was in the center of the sky, indicating the middle of the night.

He sprinted towards the green ash forest with a tight grip on the broken blade at full speed.

He was moving towards the west of the village,

As he almost reached the dense forest, he heard some heavy footsteps approaching him, he stopped and looked in that direction,

As the sound came closer and closer, avatar saw a big tiger, almost double the size of the normal tiger,

Avatar stood there as he watched the tiger approaching him,

Closer it reached he could see that there were many cuts all around the body of the tiger, blood still flowing out of them,

Avatar kept on looking at the face of the tiger as it stood in front of him.

"Asha"
