Chapter 6: Chapter-6 Laura in Danger

On hearing that Oliver is at the door of my house all three of us started panicking because I was noting down all the information about Oliver on my whiteboard. After panicking for five seconds I said to Eliza and Taylor, " We don't have time for this. Hide the whiteboard under my bed and pick your coffees. Pretend like we were just casually talking about things. Quick now."

Then I said to Mom, " Coming, Mom." When I went down I saw mom was talking to Oliver about my childhood. She was telling stories about how I was as a child. I said, " Mom, what are you doing?"

Mom said, " Oliver asked me about your childhood".

I asked surprised, " What? Why all of a sudden?" and tried to read his mind. But, he was still not thinking anything.

Without thinking anything, he said," Oh, please don't misunderstand. I just saw your childhood photos yesterday. Taylor showed them to me. So, I got curious about your childhood. Nothing else."

I replied, " It's not a big deal. It is just surprising that Taylor showed you my childhood photos because he knows I don't like others to see my childhood photos. Ok, We were talking in my room. Taylor and Eliza are upstairs. Let's go. And mom, please get a cup of coffee for Oliver too."

We reached my room and I loudly said to Oliver, " This is my room" so that Taylor and Eliza know that we are coming. When I opened the door, I breath a sign of relief. Taylor and Eliza were sitting and talking. They also had their coffee in their hands. At first glance it looked like a get together among friends. Oliver said, " Were you guys doing something? Did I disturb you all?"

Eliza replied, " No Oliver. We were just planning a house party and a sleepover at my house. My parents will be out of town tonight and will be back by the next afternoon so we were planning for the party. Everyone in our class will be present there. You also come and pick up Laura on your way too."

Taylor said, " Yes and you can also make more new friends over there. You are new in this town so I am sure you don't know many people here. You can get to know more of our classmates."

Oliver agreed for the party but I was surprised at all this party thing. I didn't know about it. I was about to ask Eliza to come to the side with me but on seeing my expression Eliza said, " Laura let's go shopping for the party and you guys can go and clean my house. Also decorate it properly. Laura and I will bring food and clothes for the party." She looked at me with such eyes and said with eyes to read her mind. I understood and tried to read her mind. She said, ' Don't say anything. Just agree with me and we can talk on the way. You should not behave suspiciously around Oliver. He is smart.'

I said , "Ok, Let's go".

As soon as we sat in the taxi I burst at Eliza, " What in the world was that? And why did you ask Oliver to pick me up? What about the house party? You didn't tell me anything about it."

Eliza calmly said, " Wow girl, take your breath. I thought that you can keep an eye on Oliver with the excuse of party. You can find what he is hiding. By the way why can't you read his mind like the last time to find it?"

I sadly replied, " He never thinks anything or maybe I am still not that strong with my power." Then we realised that taxi driver can also hear us. We started laughing to cover it up. Eliza quietly asked me to read her mind.

She was thinking, ' Now let's talk when we are shopping so that no one can listen to us.' I made sign of ok.

Later Eliza said, " Maybe you need practice with your powers. No one can do anything without thinking."

Then I told her that Oliver was asking about my childhood and Eliza said, " That is also suspicious. Everything that Oliver does is suspicious. Let's call Taylor and ask"

I said, " But Oliver will also listen"

Eliza said, " We can talk in code language".

She called Taylor and said, " Taylor, just answer with a yes or a no and don't say anything else other than that. Did you show Laura's childhood photos to Oliver".

He replied, 'No'.

Eliza further said, " At the party, Laura will casually scold you for showing her childhood photos to Oliver and don't you dare change your reply." Then she cut the call.

I said, " See. He lied to me. But why was he asking about my childhood? "

"No idea", Eliza replied.

We returned to her house and as planned after sometime I said to Taylor, " Oh right, Taylor why did you show my childhood photos to Oliver? You clearly know that I don't like to show those photos to anyone."

" I didn't. I never showed them to him." Taylor said.

Oliver looked him in the eyes and said, " Buddy, you only showed them to me. You also said that Laura was a quiet child. You must have forgotten." Taylor suddenly said, " Yes I remember now. I showed him those photos. I am sorry Laura". Eliza and I just looked at him with surprised eyes. It was repeat of the morning incident when we scolded Taylor for not telling us that Oliver is in our school.

I replied, " No problem. But don't do it again."

Later, we pulled Taylor aside and Eliza burst at him, " Why did you change your answer? What is the truth in your words?"

Taylor replied, " What I said to you was truth but now I feel like I showed him the pictures but I also feel like I didn't. I can't understand this feeling."

I said, " It's okay Taylor. I will find out the truth about Oliver. I am not upset at you. We have a party ahead so let's focus on that."

After preparation, I went back home to get ready and as planned Oliver came to pick me up. We didn't talk much but Oliver kept looking at me without thinking anything.

Before party Eliza warned everyone, " Listen everyone. Don't go out of the house at the night because there is a forest nearby and only few houses before that. There are wild animals in the forest too. We can party all we want and raise the volume of music too but don't go out alone at the night."

Everyone partied a lot. We drank, played games, danced, ate and enjoyed ourselves. At night I was not able to sleep thinking about Oliver. He was very suspicious and strange but, at the same time whatever he said was truth and I also didn't find anything by reading his mind. I was thinking all this and suddenly I heard a faint sound from the door.

I saw that Oliver was going out at night. That too all alone. Very quietly. I followed him. He was going in the forest. I, without thinking followed him. I was able to follow him for a short distance then he disappeared and I was lost. I tried to find my way back and started walking. I soon found myself surrounded by wolves. They looked hungry.

Suddenly one of them jumped on me and I had nowhere to go.

I just screamed, " Help me!!!.... "
