Chapter 10: Research and Insults

Destiny would have to work earnestly but secretly to draw up this magical contract so she could be with the one she could not take her mind off. Unfortunately it was approaching July and the summer sun was not to the kindest today. She would have to make a trip to the Travisville Memorial Library in shorts and a spaghetti strap shirt exposing her pale skin to everyone in her path. She practically ran to the library to escape not only the torturous sun but any onlookers as well. Destiny hoped not many people were at the library. She knew she would begin her research with a list of all the mythical creatures that weren't really mythical to herself. As she started down the list it became increasingly aware that none of them had anything to do with the other. This was a major insult to her. As if everyone was secluded from the other. She was an outsider and she never knew she wasn't the only one. The vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the elves, the fairies, the zombies, and all the other creatures didn't have contact with anyone outside their breed. It was devastatingly heartbreaking. Anyone found breaking these ancient laws would suffer death and if they couldn't die they were tortured to wanting death. Why did the ancient creatures hate one another so horribly? Destiny Trammel had to know. It was her biggest desire to know the truth behind the laws.
