Chapter 2: A lively garden

As the sunlight peeked inside the window, it had awoken the beauty amidst her sleep. As her eyelids stirred from the brightness, Bai Xinyu was grumbling to herself in a half-awake state. She always made sure to let the windows shades down before sleeping, so how could the sunlight come in? Waking up this way will surely affect her start of a good day.

Opening her eyes, she found herself in another troubling matter. Though she loved the look of wooden furniture and greeneries, it has a rustic charm and down to earth feeling, this wasn't her room. Outside the window was a beautiful field of flowers and trees blooming with flowers. The whole place looked like they danced in the field, swaying back and front joyfully. It was a queer sight.

Yet ... didn't she die ah? But it felt like she slept through a long dream, but only fragments remain. Nothing really makes sense early in the morning. Before she could ponder further on the situation, through the door, a rather familiar little baby boy stormed in, running towards her in excitement. He was tiny, probably three or four years old, wearing a cute robe she found familiar with the ones people wear in ancient serial dramas. "Jiejie, jiejie, Xinyu jiejie, you are finally back."

"Ah-Huang?" She tested the waters.

The little bun, proven to be the same Ah-Huang from her dream nodded his head eagerly. His eyes shining in anticipation towards her. Bai Xinyu could only smile affectionately at the familiar yet unfamiliar baby boy in front of her. She could say for sure they have never met before, yet somehow there existed a familiarity and he was in her dream. In her dreams, she usually brought back things to this little bun. Having nothing to give him this time, she said weekly."I'm sorry. I didn't bring anything back this time." The little bun ducked his head in a funny manner and puckered his lips for a while, before beaming in glee in an instant yet again. He climbed into her embrace as he said: "That's alright. As long as you are back. This time, you have gone for so long. Ah-Huang misses you a lot."

Feeling the boy was adorable, she patted his head. Bai Xinyu thought she had died when the bus hit her, yet somehow she ended up here after waking up. She has yet to figure out where 'here' is either. Was this the famous transmigration scenario written in the novels? It doesn't feel novel at all, it's rather confusing. She didn't have any memories from this body or a system chirping in or any kind of secret object to help her embark on the journey of the future. Feeling rather helpless, she sat still staring into nothingness.

After a while, feeling like someone is staring at her, she looks down to find Ah-Huang adorable deer eyes. Thinking that the little bun may know something, she asked with a soft voice. "Little Ah-Huang, did I ask you to remind me of something before I left. I feel like I have forgotten something important."

"To remind you of something?" The little bun shook his head slowly. "But every time you go away and come back, you would always visit Grandma Meng for some time. Have you gone there yet?"

Grandma Meng? Bai Xinyu was suddenly struck with another feeling of familiarity. Grandma Meng? She seemed to have heard of this name before, she just couldn't pinpoint when or who it was. Whoever this grandma was, she was now the only clue had to figure out the situation right now, finding her was a must. "I haven't. Ah-Huang. Do you want to go with me to Grandma Meng?"

"I can go with you?" The little bun jumped up in excitement. Bai Xinyu nodded smilingly, yet signing inside to herself. Of course, he had to go with her, she didn't know how to visit Grandma Meng on her own. Not to mention that she had no knowledge of who Grandma Meng was, how could she know where the grandma lived. Planning to trick the little bun, she said to him playfully.

"Not only going together, but I'll also even let Ah-Huang lead the way. Does Ah-Huang know the way to Grandma Meng?"

Ah-Huang who thought he was given a mission quest, answered spiritedly: "Of course, it's the passage array in the West garden. It goes directly to Grandma Meng. You even made it yourself, to make it easier and faster to go there."

Gaining new information, Bai Xinyu thanked the body she resided in for making things easy for her. There was a passage array that led to another place which should be something like space transportation. Was this a magic world? Following the little bun out of the place she woke up in, through the flower garden, she realized that the garden would be underestimating the size of this place. The flower beds stretched out to the end of the horizon, creating an illusion of endlessness. She didn't know if it was her imagination, but the flowers seemed alive and there was a feeling of happiness in the air. This feeling intensified everywhere she went.

They soon arrived in front of a garden archway laced with white carnations, white roses and white lilies, all dried up. Comparing the richness of flowers behind them, the white flowers gave a clean and calm feeling. Ah-Huang walked through the archway, half-dragging Bai Xinyu who slowed down to look at the archway. She was in a trance of the dry flowers that suddenly bloomed in front of her.
