Chapter 3: Chapter 3 - 「MINNIE’S PERFORMANCE」

They arrived at the banquet hall. The entrance of the hall has a red carpet lying on the floor and it leads inside. They saw a huge chandelier at the top of the hall and the dance floor was surrounded by circular tables with white table cloth made of silk with black stripes at the edge, surrounded by well-made wooden chairs, on the table were expensive silver platters and the necessary eating utensils with delicious cuisines and desserts served. Each table had one bottle of wine for the adults and iced tea for the kids. At the end of the hall you could see two staircases on the right and left side of the wall. The staircase then leads to a terrace looking platform. It was decorated with pretty plants.

The trio then went to their corresponding table. Soon the guests arrived one by one. Few minutes later it was already 5 pm. [CLINK! CLINK!] Someone clinked their wine glass grabbing everyone's attention. Luke went over to the center of the room and said "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for coming to my son's birthday banquet. Before we officially start the Banquet, my daughter, Minlu Yul, will be performing her own composed song while playing the violin." The lights then dimmed while Minlu approached the center with a violin while a spotlight shine over her.

Elois adjusted the microphone stand to her height. "Good evening everyone. My name is Minlu Yul and you may call me Minnie. I will now perform my own composed song titled 「RUSHING WAVES」. Enjoy." Elois smiled and started playing the violin with a sad melody.

" I gaze onto the horizon,

while I sit on the shore.

Reminiscing of all our past memories,

while a tear runs down on my cheek.

As I cannot turn the time backwards,

I regretted everything.

As the wind blows and my hair covers my face,

it dims my sight like the sight of seeing you all again.

[Elois paused singing while she played a violin solo]

Rushing waves, rushing waves

my feelings are like rushing waves.

[The audience were all shocked with how much emotion a five-year old poured in singing a song. They never knew a five-year old could achieve a feat like this. It feels genuine.] (preshaa: remember, she's only five so her voice is kinda squeaky but she's still hitting the notes perfectly)

It gets larger and larger and,

suddenly dissapears..

I'm so selfish,.. oh so selfish..

But it is needed to move on and

also for the future ahead of us.

As I live in comfort,

while you live with pain.

Rushing waves, rushing waves

my feelings are like rushing waves.

It gets larger and larger and,

suddenly dissapears..

I'm so selfish,.. oh so selfish.."

And just like that, Elois ended her performance. There was a long silence but few moments later the audience applauded loudly with a standing ovation. "Looks like the daughter will be following the foot steps of the mother." a lady commented. "True. Can't believe a five-year old composed such sad song. It must be genes." a man speculated. While the people had many questions and theories in their heads Luke's loud voice captured their attention "Well done Minnie, you've never failed to make us proud. Now ladies and gentlemen, LET THE BANQUET START!" Soon calming music started playing while the people started eating and chatted with each other.

"Minnie! You did so we— Huh?! Why are you crying?!" Meila was startle seeing Elois cry. "No worries mom. I just pushed myself too hard. A few sweets and I'll be my old and cheerful self again." Elois let out a sad smile. Meila then hugged Elois "Don't worry sweetie. We're always here for you." Seeing the worried faces of her parents and two brothers she said "I'm really alright mom,.. but I might need a to take a breather."

"Fine. Miles go with Minnie." Meila ordered Miles. "Sure mo-" "No! I'm fine on my own mom. Besides, this place is surrounded by guards. Who'll want to sneak in?" Elois assured her. Meila sighed "You know Minnie, you're too mature for you age. Be back in 15 minutes or I'll force Miles to find you. Now get going." Elois smiled and then hugged her mother "Thanks mom, you're the best." Elois then proceeded to get out to take a breather.

"Mom.. is Minnie really fine?" Linley asked worriedly. "Aii.. what are you worried about. Of course she's fine. She's more mature than you. You go now and socialise. It is your night." Meila said while she kissed Linley's forehead. "Alright then." Linley smiled and approached his friends.

'My emotions got the best of me.. Lesson learned.' Elois thought but she didn't see the roch so she tripped. 'I should've be—' "Miss Minnie, you should've been more careful or you'll ruin your beautiful face." a voice of a 8 year old child said as he offered his hand to lift her up. Elois looked up to see where the voice was coming from. 'Such a handsome kid. He's much handsome than Linley but Miles overpowers him.. we'll see.' Elois thought while accepting his offer to help her.

"Thank you for the help. May I ask, what is you name?" Elois asked. 'Should I tell her my name? I'll tell her since my dad and her dad are friends.' the kid thought and answered "My name is Isekiel Kendall." Isekiel smiled.
