Chapter 13: Factions
*Ringgg!
'Huh?'
Rem looked at the clock.
[8:20 a.m.]
'OH SHOOT! I'm going to be late!!!'
Rem quickly got out of bed, shifted into her beast-man form, disguised herself, and got dressed. She ran out of her room, to her class.
'Can't believe I missed homeroom... I gotta run!!!'
Rem ran to the classroom and opened the door without breaking a sweat.
"Rem, you are late! I'll let it go this once. Don't be late next time." The teacher said.
"Of course ma'am!" Rem replied and sat next to Karina.
"I told you yesterday that today is a very important day! Haha, you are late." Karina whispered to Remm while giggling quietly.
"Shut up. I just overslept a little bit. Things like this happen okay?" Rem whispered back.
"Yeah, sure..!" Karina said, chuckling.
The teacher saw the two girls whispering to each other.
"Pay attention! This is a warning. I'm about to explain what you will be doing today." The teacher said while looking at Rem and Karina.
"Now, today we will be choosing a faction. You have to join one faction. Those factions are the Magic, Combat, and Support Factions. Depending on how strong or skillful you are, you may or may not get into one of the Faction Guilds. There are five guilds. The guilds would personally meet you. Now follow me to the school's stadium." The teacher said while walking out of the classroom.
"Wow, there's a stadium in this school???" Rem asked, surprised.
"Bruh, you are only excited about the stadium? You don't seem to care about the factions or guilds."
"Yeah, I don't. Let's quickly follow the teacher to the stadium. I want to see it!" Rem said excitedly.
"Ok, ok. We better catch up to her. Let's go."
Rem and Karina caught up to the teacher and arrived at the stadium.
"Wow, it's huge!" Rem said while looking around her surroundings.
"Yeah, this is where we go when there's a special event or when there's a tournament!" Karina replied, not surprised at all.
"Attention everyone!" The principal said while using her magic to making her voice louder.
"You first years will be choosing a faction. The Magic Faction is in blue, Combat in red, and support in yellow. Please walk to the Faction you want to be in." The principal said.
Everyone walked to the faction they wanted to be in. Rem chose the Combat Faction while Karina chose the Magic Faction.
"Alright. Now that you have chosen your faction, you will meet the Faction Guilds. If you want to join a Faction Guild, simply apply for it over there at the registration table near the exit. If you don't want to join a Faction Guild, just do whatever you want for the rest of the day."
Almost everyone went to the registration area. The line was extremely long.
"Hey Remie, do you want to join a faction?" Karina asked.
"What does being in a faction give you?"
"They give you supplies and help you."
"Meh, it's not for free is it?"
"Of course not. In return, we have to do missions and stuff. I'm not really sure but I think that's how it works."
"Nah, I don't want to join a faction. Signing up, taking the tests, and helping out... Sounds annoying. Plus, I can just get the resources myself. I don't need any help."
"You sure?"
"Yup. You seem to want to join a faction guild. Go on and register to take the test. I'm sure you would be able to pass. Cya." Rem said while walking towards the door.
A mysterious man watched Rem go towards the exit without registering.
'Interesting... Someone actually refused to join a faction guild. Everyone wants to join a faction guild except for her...' The man thought, following Rem while hiding his presence.
