Chapter 59: It's Training Time!
The next day, Rem, Karina, Kaito, and the twins spent an hour jogging at the school race track. After they finished jogging, Rem stated, "Today we are going to fight some monsters."
"What..?" Yukino was not confident in herself.
"Where are they?" Kaito asked.
"You'll find out soon. Follow me..!" Rem walked towards a portal located outside the city.
'They should be able to fight the monsters in the portals now. Good thing Karasu found this hidden portal while looking after Roy. Usually, dangerous portals would be red. Red portals have monsters that are over level 50. It can even have level 100 monsters. Portals that have monsters that are around levels 20-50 would be green. Blue portals are portals with riddles, puzzles, or mazes. At least that was how it was in my past life.' Rem thought.
The 4 followed Rem, curious about what monsters they would be fighting.
After around 20 minutes of walking, they finally arrived.
"Isn't this a portal?" Karina was wondering what they were doing in front of a portal.
"Obviously, we'll be entering it." Rem answered.
"What???" Yukino froze.
"C'mon! Let's go. Don't worry, you won't die since I'm here. Your training for today will be clearing this portal." Rem said calmly.
"Alright... I guess this will be great practice." Kaito agreed to go into the portal.

'I know. That's why I told them to wear the bracelets I gave them the day before. Not only is the bracelet help you with training, but it's also made so I would know their location. I made these in my past life. I can't remember why I made these though...' Rem entered the portal after Karina, Kaito, and the twins entered the portal.

As you walked out of the portal, the portal disappeared.
'It seems like we are in a snowy mountain. Good thing it's not snowing much.' Rem thought.
'Where is this?' Rem asked.
{You are currently in the Giant's Realm.}
'Giants... I'll have to meet one before making any conclusions.' Rem faced the others who were all shivering because of the cold.
"I-it's so c-cold..!" Karina said, shivering.
Karina wasn't used to the cold since she had lived her whole life in a forest. Even in the Winter, it wasn't as cold as up in the mountains. On the other hand, the twins, Yukino and Yukio didn't seem to have a problem despite being in the cold. Kaito didn't have any problem either. His element was fire, after all. Usually, most monsters who didn't have the ability to survive during the Winter would die. However, Rem was different. She was a Kager.
'I've always thought I was normal but I guess not. Being a Kager sure gives me a lot of advantages. I can't feel the cold. It's a great ability but at the same time, it's quite sad.' Rem sighed.
"Karina! Stay next to Kaito for warmth." Rem said.
Yukio took off his jacket and put it over Karina.
"Thanks," Karina said, blushing.
Yukio blushed slightly, putting his hand on his neck, rubbing it in embarrassment.
"Ooooooo!!!" Yukino cooed.
"Stop flirting already. We have to get out of this mountain." Kaito interrupted.
"Stay alerted everyone." Rem took the lead.
The group has been walking for more than 5 minutes but they still didn't see any monsters in sight.
"Why aren't there any monsters? We hadn't encountered one yet." Karina was wondering what kind of place didn't have any monsters in it.
"I'm pretty sure there are monsters who are always together. Maybe in a herd." Kaito has never been to a mountain before but he has learned by reading books.
"Go to that huge rock over there slowly and stay there." Rem said quietly, using her stealth to get closer to the monsters she sensed ahead of them.
The group nodded and did what Rem told them to do. Rem sneakily walked closer to the monsters and hid behind a large, frozen tree. She looked at the herd of monsters. They were very large in size. The herd of monsters looked similar to an Ogre. They were muscular and had hard ice all over their body.
'I've never seen these kinds of Giants before. The Giants I've seen in my past life didn't live in the snowy mountains. They lived in forests. This is another difference between my past world and this world...' Rem inspected one of the monster's stats.

'These Giants are between levels 35 and 45..! They're also staying together most of the time... Charging in would be a horrible idea. There are probably around 100 of them here!' Rem stayed on guard.

'Whatever. Are there any of them that are by themselves or in a smaller group? We can't fight them like this. There are just too many. Maybe for me, it won't be any problem but the reason we entered this portal was so Karina, Kaito, and the twins could gain some experience.' Rem waited for what 002 would say.

{Towards the East, there's a lake. Two Blizzard Mount Giants are there. They are both level 35.}
'Great!' Rem walked back to the rock silently.
"Follow me." Rem told her group.
The 4 nodded and followed Rem as quietly as they can. They tried making as little noise as possible.
'Rem isn't making any noises when she walks... She never does..! How did I just realize now..?' Kaito now knew how powerful Rem was.
He began respecting her even more. While they followed Rem, they didn't say a word. All of them were curious about where Rem was bringing them. They didn't see the herd of monsters yet.
"We're here..!" Rem crouched down and hide behind a large bush.
"Wait... Are we supposed to fight these things near that lake??? They look very strong..." Yukino wasn't sure if she could defeat the monsters she just saw.
She was afraid.
"That's right! You're going to gain experience by fighting them. Karina and Kaito can work on defeating the one on the left while you twins can work on defeating the one on the right. Don't worry too much! If you are in danger, I can protect you easily." Rem said confidently.
"Alright..." Karina was scared as well but she decided to go along with it.
"By the way..! They have weak eyesight. These Giants rely mostly on their hearing. You get what I mean, right?" Rem asked.
"Of course." Kaito took out his dual swords.
The other 3 got ready as well. They tried their best to not make any noise when getting close to the Giants. Finally getting behind the Giants, Karina and Kaito attack one of the Giants while the twins attacked the other one. Karina aimed for one of the Giant's legs. Kaito applied fire magic to his dual swords and attacked one of the Giant's arms. Yukio attacked the other Giant's legs as well while Yukino supported him by healing the small wounds he got from facing the Giant head-on. Rem just stayed in the bushes, enjoying the show. After about 15 minutes, the 4 got very tired. Karina and Kaito managed to get more than 80% of their Giant's health while the twins got half of theirs.
'They seem so worn out. I guess they would need harsher training. Oh well... They only trained for a few days. There's no need to rush. As long as I make them run some more laps!' Rem decided to help them out by chaining the Giants using her shadow magic.
With Rem's help, both Giants were defeated in just a few minutes.
"Great job!" Rem was impressed.
They are pretty low level compared to the Giants so she never expected them to be this talented.
"Phew... That was so tiring..." Karina was out of breath.
Kaito and Yukio were out of breath as well. Yukino wasn't as out of breath as them since she only had to dodge some of the Giant's attacks.
"Get ready to run some more! We are now going to break into three groups and scatter this herd of Giants into smaller groups." Rem said sternly.
"We have to run again???" Yukino complained.
Yukio nodded, not wanting to run any longer.
"At least let us rest for a little while," Kaito said, sighing.
"Even though I don't want to run anymore.. I have to admit..! That's a great plan but... Why are we going to scatter them?" Karina asked, confused.
"You do know we have to defeat every monster here before we can go back, right?" Rem asked back.
"We do..?" Yukino was shocked.
"Today is going to be a very tiring day..." Kaito sighed again.
Yukio nodded in agreement and sighed with Kaito.
"You can rest for 10 minutes. After that, we'll get to work." Rem sat on a small log.
"Only 10 minutes???" Yukino raised one of her brows.
"You're right..! 10 minutes is way too long! Alright then... You guys can have an 8-minute break." Rem announced.
"No!!!" Yukino argued.
"Then 5 minutes." Rem smiled.
Yukino finally decided to shut her mouth and stop complaining. The group of 5 rested for 5 minutes without saying anything.
