Chapter 3: Welcome to Inaba
Author's Note: since Yu doesn't have a whole lot of lines, I decided to Overly Verbose all of them!
April 11: 2011
And he's gone, where the hell am I? From the looks of it, I'm on a train. There's a letter in my hand, and I'm carrying a bag of stuff.
"Dear Y/n Bessho, my name is Ryotaro Dojima. I'm was a friend of your parents, I'm sorry about what happened, no one deserves to lose a loved one like that. Anyways, as you probably know, neither of your older siblings are eligible to take care of you, so I've agreed to take care of you. You'll be living with my daughter, Nanako and my nephew Yu along with me in the small town of Inaba. I've enrolled you in Yasogami High School. You two will arrive in Inaba April 11, and start school the next day. Nanako is so excited to meet you. I should hopefully be there to pick you up at the train station." He said. "From, Dojima."
Damn, Igor was thorough. I'll have to thank him the next time is see him, well, if I ever see him again.
"excuse me, is the person that I am currently talking to, which indicates you y/n bessho?" Someone said.
There was a boy, about my age, he's got grey ish hair and is wearing a black coat and white shirt.
"Yeah, that's me." I said
"I am yu narukami. The group of people that me, possibly you and others are going to be living together at something or multiple things I possess, known as uncle's for the next year or so." He said.
There was a broadcast on a nearby television.
"The scandal involves the Enka star Misuzu Harage preparing to travel overseas. Taro Namatame, the council's secretary in the Inaba region, is now under suspicion of having an affair. What's more is his TV mistress-"
At the Dojima residence.
Nanako and Dojima were watching the news.
"Oh, should we go soon?" Nanako asked
"Yeah it's just about time." Dojima said
Back on the train.
It continued on through the countryside.
"So you're only here for the year?" I asked
"Yeah, something or multiple things I possess, known as parents are working overseas and something or multiple things I possess, known as uncle is taking custody of me until a group of living beings that I am referring to move or travel towards or into a place back. It is going to be different that is for sure." He says
"Tell me about it." I said.
We arrived at the Yasoinaba train station.
"Hey! Over here." A man's voice said.
The both of us walked over to him.
"Wow, you're more handsome in person then in your photo." He said as he shook both of our hands. "Welcome to Inaba. I'm Ryotaro Dojima, I'll be looking after you. Let's see, I'm your mother's younger brother, and that about sums it up, and I was a close friend of your father." He said to Yu and I.
"It's nice to meet you." I said.
He gently nudged a young girl out in front him.
"Come on Nanako, introduce yourself." He said to her.
"Hello." She said quietly. She went back behind Dojima.
"*chuckle, what're you so shy for?"
She slapped him in the leg.
"Ow. Hehe. Well then, let's get going." He said. "My car's over there."
We headed over to the car, and a girl brushed by us.
"Hey, you dropped this." She said as she handed a piece of paper to Yu.
"Thank the person that I am currently talking to, which indicates you." He said.
"Whatever, all I did was give it back." She said.
She walked off towards the station.
"What's wrong?" Dojima asked
We got into the car and headed to Dojima's house. We made a stop at the gas station along the way.
"Hi! Welcome to Moel!" The attendant said.
"Can you go to the bathroom by yourself?" Dojima asked Nanako.
"Uh huh." She said.
Dojima asked the attendant where the bathroom was.
"It's in the back to your left. You know which way is left? The side you don't use your chopsticks in." She said
"I know, geez." Nanako said.
Yu and I stepped out to stretch our legs.
"Are you on a trip?" She asked
"No, we just went to pick them up. They just moved in from the big city." Dojima said.
"The city huh?" She said
"Fill up my car while your at it. Regular's fine." Dojima said to her
"Right away sir!" She said.
"Good time as any for a smoke." Dojima said as he walked off.
"Do you go to High School? Does it surprise a couple of city boys to see how little there is out here? There's so little to do, I'm sure you'll get bored fast. You'll either be hanging out with your friends or doing part time jobs. Speaking of which, we're actually looking for part time help right now. Give it some thought why don't you? We don't mind if you're a student." She said
We shook her hand, then Nanako came out of the station.
"Oh, I should get back to work." She said.
Naoto is looking at both of us. I got a slight headache and felt a bit light headed.
"Are you ok?" She asked. "Did you get carsick? You don't look too good."
Could it be the exhaustion from the long trip? Come to think of it I am feeling a bit nauseous.
Dojima finished with his smoke and came back over.
"What's wrong? Are you ok?" He asked
"I'm just feeling a bit light headed." I said.
"That's understandable. It must've been a long trip for you." He said. "Why not take a walk, get some fresh air? Just let me know when you're ready to go."
I took a walk around, Yu did the same. There wasn't too much to see, just a couple of shops and that's about it. After a few minutes we headed back to the car and headed to the house.
It's a small household, with a garden on the side, a garage and a scooter parked out front. This is where I'm living for now.
We headed inside and Supper was made then we sat down at the table.
"So your parents are busy working overseas? I know it's only for a year, but getting stuck in a place like this because of your parents, it's fought being a kid. Well, it's just me and Nanako here, so it'll be nice having you two around. So long as you're here, you're part of the family. So make yourselves at home." He said.
"thank the person that I am currently talking to, which indicates you for the item that belongs to you, known as a kindness." Yu said.
"C'mon there's no need to be so formal. Look, your making Nanako tense. Well anyway, let's eat."
Dojima got a phone call.
"Ugh, who's calling at this hour? Dojima speaking. Uh huh, yeah? I see, so where is it?" He asked as he stood up. "Uh huh, ok I'm on my way. Looks like I made the right choice to skip the booze. Sorry, but I gotta go ahead and take care of some business. Go ahead and eat without me." He said. "I don't know how late I'll be. Nanako, you help them out ok?"
"Ok." She said.
He headed out.
"Nanako it's raining out? What'd you do with the laundry?" He asked
"I already brought it in!" She said.
"Alright! Well, I'm off!" He said
Nanako turned on the TV.
"-for this week. Next let's take a look at the hourly breakdown of tomorrow's weather. With storm clouds moving in from the west, expect rain throughout the day tomorrow in most areas."
"Let's eat." Nanako said.
We started eating, then Yu decided to strike up a conversation with Nanako.
"So what does the item that belongs to you, known as a biological male parent do?" He asked
"He... investigates stuff. Like crimes scenes. My dad's a detective." She said
"And now for the locale news. City council secretary Taro Namatame, is under fire for an alleged relationship with a female reporter. His wife, Enka Ballad sensation Misuzu Hiriagi, revealed to the station that she will likely pursue damages. In response, Eye television has decided to cancel all of announcer Mayumi Yamano's televised appearances. Until allegations of an affair with Mr. Naratame are resolved, she'll remain off the air and out of the public eye."
"This is boring." Nanako said as she changed the channel.
I mean I was enjoying it, but I don't want to start drama with her already.
"At Junes (June Ez), every day is Customer Appreciation Day. Come see for yourself, and get in touch with our products. Every day's great at your Junes." The lady sang
"Every day's great at your Junes." Nanako sung along with. "Aren't you going to eat?"
We finished up eating, then Yu and I headed upstairs to our rooms.
There's a futon set up in the far corner, as well as a couple of boxes and a dresser.
School starts early tomorrow, I better hit the hay.
