Chapter 2: A Person with No Power
the prince's statement about me that can't do anything made my head full of question.
"soo.. why can't I do anything ?" I asked curiously.
"It's because you have no power , you know , you're not the only one who've been transfered hete by that lightball , there are 5 other stones just like yours , but they are different" said the prince explaining to me.
"Different , like what ?" i asked again staring into his eyes.
"Man , you really are doomed , see , the stones are a one way portal to this world , every stone has it own candidate for being a so called "Hero" and they came from another dimension , unlike another stone , your stone always transfers people to this dangerous world without giving them any power at all , and every single one of it candidates always dies in three days or less , and after the candidates died , the stone summon another candidates here , that's why we tried to seal it , wich happens to be working , but now it is broken and you are the next victim" the prince explained my situation clearly.
"it means you can't use our weapons and magic , but as long as you stay here at the tavern you are save" said nakia to me while smiling cheerfully.
"where are the other candidates ? , and what are their power ?" I said as my curiousity got higher due the explanation before.
"they are really far from here , even a dragon , the fastest thing in the sky will have to fly for 4 days straight just to go to another stone" said the prince to me.
"ah and about their power , they are overpowered , unlike us , they usually have a great amount of mana , and their strength are beyond normal , the legend said that one of the hero that were summoned by the stones can defeat a giant dragon that is as big as this village just by himself" he said completing his answers
"what , dragons , dangerous things , shit im gonna die , I have no power and I went to this dangerous world , I fucked up" I said to myself as I wringkled my forehead and cross my hands in front of them making my self looks worried.
Nakia look in to my eyes and hold my hands tightly.
"you don't need to worry okay , the prince have made an order to his best man to guard this tavern , so chill and enjoy your days" said Nakia smiling to me.
the prince hold his sword with his hands and screamed "this sword of mine and all of this country will protect you".
everyone in the tavern stands and give an honor to me , I don't really know why are they doing that , they looks so powerfull , they could just let me be alone an use their sympathy for other hero.
I felt a little relieved but I also felt like a coward that being protected by everybody , at that time i felt really mocked even tho I should be thankfull for their attitude to me.
"would you mind telling us your name , hero ?" said nakia to me.
then everyone put their eyes on me and went silence.
I prepared my self , i clench my teeth forcing my ashamed face to smile and then jumped on the table standing in front of everyone.
before I speak my words I think of something , I've always wanted to change my name in my world before , but I didn't get the time for that because It's really not efficient.
"bur what if they have a power that can sense lies ? , oh fuck it" I said to myself
"My name is ryuuji nakagami , I really apreciate your loyalty , I felt honored , but please , don't call me as a "hero" I haven't save anyone , and I don't know if a powerless man like me can do something , in my world before this I have no friends , I lived a boring life , a meaningless life , I've never ever helped someone , but here , I will try , because that light have granted my only wish , my wish to live in a different situation , thats why I will need your help , would you please lend your power to me ?" I said outloud and in the end I lower my head to ask for their help.
everyone is in silence , I'm still lowering my head unavle to see anything except a smile frome that prince before , his smile is very terrifying , looks like a villain that have successfuly executes his plans.
And then i hear someone started claping hands , it sounds really cynical , like if it were meant to mock my statement before and then everyone , clap their hand and laughed soo hard.
"hahaha look at this dude he really believed thoose bullshit"
they laughed at me so hard , Im still lowering my head ashamed of what's just happened , I have no courage to see their faces.
"you think a powerless man like you deserves a place in this world ? nope hahahaha " someone screams throughout the laughter.
I finally have a courage to see their faces , as I lift my face up I saw their face smiling , looking down at me , the prince is the happiest of them all , he stare at me and look down at me.
I jumped down the table stare into his eyes as I held my emotions.
"huh , what do you want to do , powerless "hero", you want to taste my sword ?" he said threatens me while moving closer.
I have nothing against them they looks so powerfull , but even so I tried to push back the prince body , but when I do that I fell to the ground.
the prince spit on my face and looke down own me.
I closed my eyes unable to accept the humiliation that they gave me.
"closed your eyes coward hahahah , you will die soon" said the prince outloud
the prince grabed my hand lift me up so I can stand on my feet , and then kicked me in my stomach untill I got thrown out of bar's door.
he came closer to me with a couple of man behind him , looking down on me.
I turn my face away from him.
he pass away and stepped his feet on me , my suit got dirtu because of that thing , and after everyone left the girl , Nakia came to me.
I stand on my feet and stare at her as she stares back at me.
" do you think you can fight a girl ? " said her smiling to me.
"Nah even if I could I wouldn't" I answered.
"what do you want ? , just leave me please" I said to her.
"you know , you're still standing in front of my tavern " she said cheerfuly.
"quit smilling woman , I know you are the same with them" I said to her unable to control my emotion.
"well , as you said im the same with them , I have powers unlike you" she said mocking me.
"tch" I clenched my teeth.
she went back Inside , I walk and stand rest my back against the tavern's wall , the sky are turning red , the sun is slowly drowning to the clouds of the mountain , without realizing , I fell asleep in front of the tavern.
I had a dream about my normal boring life where I went to my office everyday and go home and slept , and repeat it again and again , I thought that I better having that life rather than being humiliated like this.
then I heard Nakia's voice gently whispwering to me.
"hey , hey ryuuji , wake up , wake up , come kn get Inside , you could die outhere"
I slowly opens my eyes , Im wearing a blanket and Nakia is crouching in front of me , the color of her eyes and her pupil changed , now it looks like a cat.
"im so sorry I fell asleep here" I said.
"it's okay , get Inside please , I prepared food and hot drinks for you" she said gently smiling to me.
And then we both get inside the tavern , the tavern was already closed that time , so It's just the two of us there.
