Mason moved through the thick jungle with blue eyes wide and sweeping over his surroundings, hoping for any glimpse of something that would lead him to Ilona. He had to be on the lookout for even the tiniest clue because so far; he had nothing else to go on.
The chilly winds whipping through the trees were both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it muffled the sounds of his clumsy steps, so tired he couldn't move with his normal smoothness. On the other hand, the constant shifting all around him was causing Mason to continue to jerk, thinking he had caught sight of someone when there was really nothing there but foliage and shadows.
Mason promised himself when this was all over and he had his beautiful pirate Captain safely in his arms again, he would hide away with her in their cave and sleep for days. He just had to hold on until then.
Hello Lovely Readers!
I'm very sorry about the delay in publishing these chapters. Without going into it too much, I will say since I last posted, my grandmother has died, my child has been in and out of the hospital, and my significant other of 5 years left me abruptly. Needless to say, I quickly fell behind on my writing. I didn't want to start and stop over and over so I decided to write all the chapters ahead and do a mass release so you, my loyal and loving readers, could finish Ilona and Mason's adventure all at once. I hope you'll forgive me for the delay and know that I adore all of you! Reading your comments and getting your messages really brightens up my dark times <3
If you haven't already, find me on Facebook! I always love hearing from all of you :) E. R. McLain
