Chapter 36: Kidnapped (2)
The arrows continued to rain down upon them for everyone one they blocked three more came. "If we can kill of the pony tailed man we can stop this barrage of arrows," Diana pointed out to Alex.
"That's a better idea then waiting until he runs out of them," Alex agreed "and those two other men from before are probably taking the chance to surround us."
"Your right and we only no roughly where these arrows are being fired from and those other two our almost definitely not with him."
"You take him out and I'll watch your back," Alex decided blocking an arrow inches before it impaled her right shoulder.
"Alright then," and with that they lanced forward slicing through arrow after arrow before she jumped into the air and sliced the air with her sword. As she landed on the other side of the branch she heard a thud and as she turnt around she saw the pony tailed mans body lifeless on the ground his head touching the tip of Alex' boot inches away from the corpse.
Without a word they both lifted their swords and blocked an on slaughter of attacks.
"You killed him!" the short haired man yelled as he tried to stab Dianas already injured leg causing her to jump back causing an almost electric current of pain to travel through her leg from her bleeding wound.
"Don't worry, you'll be joining him soon," Diana retorted mockingly as she launched into her next attack. Across from them further away almost hidden by the trees she could see Alex battling the plat haired man and it seems like Alex is winning.
Which is no surprise ,however, Diana expected these men to be a far more formidable opponents considering they were sent to spy in a kingdom at war. Diana guesses these monsters really do see people as disposable.
"They dont know who you are do they?" the short haired man taunted "I'm not surprised afterall just imagine what they'd do to you if they did."
"Unlike you monsters they wouldn't torcher me for information, as I have no doubt that's what your implying," she retorted as pain from her tight thigh lances throughout her body giving him the perfect chance to strike a blow.
Diana raised her blade barely in time to block his sword only with standing a slight cut to her left side.
"If your so sure about that, then why haven't you told them?" he asks almost hauntingly as she begin an on slaughter of attacks.
"Let's end this already," she declared as she unsheathed her second blade and stabbed him diagonally through his stomach and coming out the other side having fully pierced his heart. "Go rot alongside your brother you vile creature," she hissed. Diana pulled her sword out to find it glazed in his blood his body lifeless on the ground still spilling blood.
'Damn it these arrow wounds are going to get infected if I'm not careful and they already hurt enough,' Diana thought before turning her attention back to Alex.
Just as she looked over she saw Alex' sword pierce through the plat haired mans throat coming away soaked in blood the plat haired man falling lifeless to the ground.
"You alright?" she asked as she walked towards Alex a slight limp in her step.
"Yeah I'm alright, how about you?" Alex retorted enclining his head to the fresh blood on her clothes.
"I'm fine, it's nothing. We should be trying to get back before anyone starts to get to worried."
"Something tells me we won't be able to stop them worrying," Alex reasoned. As the moon started to disappear over the horizon allowing the beginnings of a scarlet blush to paint the sky.
"You have a point there," Diana replied as they started heading back towards the castle a slight limp in each of their steps as they leaned against each other slightly. Their sheathed swords hitting against them in pace with their walking.
"How far away do you think we are from the castle?" Alex asked as they trecked through the forest.
"I'd say an hour or two by foot considering our pace," she replied brushing away a low tree branch for them. Before Alex could answer they heard the sound of galloping horses approaching and quickly hid behind a large bush each putting a hand on their sword hilts.
"Where could they be?" Crystal's familiar voice moaned.
"We've been out here since we found those daggers and then couldn't find them in the castle but its them, I mean they could just be of training." Kylo reasoned out.
"Yeah, but Diana wouldn't just leave weapons lieing around," Maddy returned.
"You have a point," Hunter agreed.
"You four do know your making yourselves excellent targets right now," Diana said as Alex and her appeared from the bushes to see Hunter, Maddy, Kylo and Crystal all sitting upon their beautiful horses Luna beside them.
"Diana!" Maddy shrieked.
"Alex!" Crystal said shocked.
"What happened to you?" Kylo asked as they unmounted their horses.
"We thought you'd been captured or something," Hunter cut in.
"We were captured but we dealt with it," Alex replied.
"From what I heard of your conversation you found my discarded daggers and then couldn't find us on the castle grounds. Then undoubtedly found tracks which you followed here," Diana inferred as she went over and stroked Lunas nose.
"Pretty much," Crystal agreed.
"Well we better get back then," she said mounting Luna "if we don't get back soon just imagine what will happen." As she said this Diana got her hair piece out from where she'd slid it into her belt earlier and put her hair up into a messy bun.
"Let's get going then," Alex agreed as he came over and mounted Luna as well.
"One question, what about those arrows in Diana's shoulder?" Crystsl asked.
"It wont be good if you ride with them in," Hunter agreed and before anyone else could speak Diana pulled the arrows out.
"Didn't that hurt?" Maddy asked in shock.
"Like Hunter said it will only get worse if I leave them in."
"Yeah but now your bleeding even worse then before," Kylo pointed out.
"I've had worse now let's get moving," she replied and in the end they surrender mounting their horses as they continued back to the palace.
By the time they finally reached the palace the sun had risen in the sky and the king and queen were running out of the palace, Emma in toe. Their faces grim as they were about to order the soldiers about.
"Mother! Farther!" Alex called out from behind Diana instantly gaining their attention. They sprinted towards them as they unmounted their horses. Alex lending Diana his hand as she dismounted from Luna.
"Big brother! Big sister! We were so worried," Emma cried as she ran into Alex and Diana squeezing them tight.
"We're sorry for worrying you, but we're both alright." Alex reassured as he stroked her head.
"But we thought you were captured," Emma said tears gleaming in her eyes.
"We were, but do you really think a bunch of cowards who had to use underhanded tactics to capture us, could really keep your brother and I down for long?" Diana asked Emma whipping away her tears.
"Of course not big sister. You and big brother are the strongest knights ever," Emma beamed.
"To right they are," Queen Valerie agreed as she and King Brian appeared behind her.
"We're offended by that statement," Kylo joked swinging an arm around Alex causing the others to giggle slightly.
"Emma why dont you let them go? I'm sure your brother and Diana need to clean up and get some rest," King Brian explained.
"Alright," Emma relented.
"Dont worry we'll hang out soon," Alex promised as he and Diana both headed inside.
"Oh, Diana!" Crystal called after them causing her to turn around. "Here, these are yours," she explained handing Diana back her daggers.
"Oh, thank you," Diana replied taking them off her before turning around and heading inside.
