Chapter 16: The Meeting.
"I hope you do not mind me joining you here?"
"No….no problem at all." The man said and gestured to Princess Xiao Ai to sit beside him.He poured her a cup of wine and told her to drink up.
"Thank you" Princess Xiao Ai raised the cup and drank the wine.
"Today is a good day.Everyone should eat to their heart content." An old man said and laughed.
"May I ask why you are all happy today?" Princess Xiao Ai asked.
"Tomorrow is the coronation of The First Prince.He will officially be the crown prince tomorrow.The Emperor has promised to give gifts to everyone." The old man said and laughed again.
"Oh….. Okay.That is good then." Princess Xiao Ai muttered and tightened her fists in anger.
"The Emperor must be a very good ruler." Princess Xiao Ai inquired in an attempt to get more information.
"I think you are new in Bianjing.Emperor Taizu is the best Emperor that any country would ever ask for.He conquered many countries including Western Xia." A young man replied.
"Emperor Taizu is happy after ruining Western Xia. How could he? '' Princess Xiao Ai thought to herself in anger.
"The Emperor has three sons and a daughter. The first son is the First Prince who is getting coronated tomorrow. He is very reliable and trustworthy just like his father. The Second Prince...?" The young man stopped talking and lowered his head to whisper.
"The Second Prince is said to be very useless.All he does is play around all day.He doesn't study nor practice martial arts.To put it in a more descriptive way... a dissapointment." He whispered and the men burst into laughter.
"The Third Prince is the same thing as the Second Prince. Princess Xiao Ai is said to be very beautiful but doesn't know how to do any of the work meant for women." He looked around and whispered again.Princess Xiao Ai also pretended to laugh.
"Thank you all for your hospitality.I must go now." Princess Xiao Ai said and bowed.
"Take care young master.It was nice meeting you." The young man said and smiled.
Princess Xiao Ai rushed to her room in anger and sat on the chair.
"Young mistress,what happened?Why are you angry?" Zhan asked curiously.
"How could they be happy after ruining my life?" Princess Xiao Ai muttered and angrily left the room.
"Young mistress, wait!" Zhan shouted as she ran after Princess Xiao Ai.She went to the counter to pay the room fee and hurriedly ran after Princess Xiao Ai.
"It's the lantern festival today." Princess Xiao Ai looked at the paper lanterns flying in the sky.
"Young mistress,why are you upset?I told you to wait because you forgot to change your male outfit.What if Madam Jiang's friend sees you in a male outfit?
"Don't worry,it's already night time.No one will pay attention to me." Princess Xiao Ai said and continued walking.
"Young mistress, I think we should go to the bridge over there to see the flying lanterns clearly.Maybe that would cheer you up." Zhan suggested and glanced at Princess Xiao Ai.
"Okay." Princess Xiao Ai muttered.She and Zhan walked towards the bridge.
"Your Royal Highness,let's search for the young master who saved us later.It's night time already." Huan suggested.
"You are right Huan." The Second Prince said and lowered his head in disappointment.
"Alright, alright.There is no reason to be so disappointed.I am sure we will find him sooner or later.Why don't we go to the bridge at the crossroads to watch the flying paper lanterns?That will cheer you up." Huan said.
"No...no need.Let's just go back to the palace." The Second Prince replied in a low voice.
"Tse. I know you will cheer up after watching the flying paper lanterns." Huan said and dragged the Second Prince near the bridge.
"Paper lanterns are very beautiful." Zhan happily said as they got to the bridge.Princess Xiao Ai silently watched the paper lanterns and smiled.
"Now that we are here,we should watch the flying paper lanterns.Don't you think?" Huan laughed and was about to get on the bridge when he saw Princess Xiao Ai.
"Isn't that….. isn't that the young master in white robe? The one we've been searching for?" Huan said and widened his eyes to look clearly.
"What?" The Second Prince asks and sees Princess Xiao Ai standing on the bridge.
"He is the one!" The Second Prince happily says and runs to meet her.
Princess Xiao Ai and Zhan look at their right side and see The Second Prince running towards them.
"Why is he running towards us? Do you know him?" Princess Xiao Ai frowned and asked.
"I don't know and I have never seen him before." Zhan replied in confusion.
The Second Prince runs to Princess Xiao Ai and hugs her. Princess Xiao Ai's eyes widened in shock while Zhan was mouth agape.
"Master, I have been looking for you." The Second Prince said and laughed.
"What are you doing?" Princess Xiao Ai pushed The Second Prince away and asked in a thick voice.
"I am sorry master,please accept me as your disciple." The Second Prince replied and bowed.
