Chapter 19: To Fish-Man Island

Shanks Pov:  I walked out the bar and towards the dock where Shakky left my ship. When I arrived on the dock,I saw no visible changes on the ship besides the coating bubble . I took the crate of wine and put it in the ship inventory. I went around the ship to examine and make sure nothing was broken and needed to be fixed. After making sure the ship was in good shape,I left it to get some other essentials . The first shop I hit was the drug shop. I got some first aid kit and bandages that I could use in an emergency. Although i was no chopper or law or Dr kureha, i could stitch myself just fine. It's one of the basic skills Rayleigh deemed essential enough  for me to learn at least the basics of. The next store  I hit up was the food store. I got my favorite rice and some spices  before I left .  The store after that was a navigation one as I bought log poses to some specific islands I needed to visit. I also bought eternal poses just in case. I hit the clothing store and 2 hours later I was out of the store with a jolly roger and a pair of black and road cloaks with hoods attached. I also bought a pair of captain jackets before that had my new jolly roger on it. I walked to the ship and a couple of minutes later I was on the sea once again ready to descend to fish man island. I directed my ship and it began descending into the sea in a minute due to the special resin applied to it during its coating. The moment I was far enough from the surface,I stopped holding my back conqueror's haki that I suppressed the whole time I visited the different shops. The currents around my ship picked up speed a minute later which marked the beginning of my journey to Fish-man island. I wasn't planning to stay there for long as there wasn't much to explore there except the fish man districts and the ship graveyard. I'll probably also take a look at the mermaid cafes and the place of the poneglyph. As I thought about this, I sensed different sea beasts running the moment they approached my ship in a 5o-kilometer radius.  I ignored them and took a seat on a chair I had the foresight to buy when I was visiting the different shops. It was comfortable,comfortable to the point I popped a wine bottle and took some sips like I was at a bar with no care. 'The scenery underwater enhanced the experience by a 100 times as it's not something you typically see everyday,well except if you're a fishman. It's honestly the one thing I can confidently say I envy about fishmen. But then again, they gotta deal racial discrimination and all that. So on second thought,the advantage isn't worth it in opinion'. The rest of the journey was peaceful and fast as the currents would sometimes act dolly and speed my ship which I was definitely not gonna complain about. I woke up hours later as I sensed the ship approaching the bubble barrier that surrounded the whole island. It was beautiful from the outside and I took a moment to appreciate the sight before my ship passed through the bubble barrier and I was on the shores of fishman island in no time. The moment the ship passed through the barrier, I sensed multiple presences that were hiding in the water and other spots around the shore. I took a moment to take in the view before I directed the ship to a docking spot that was occupied with many pirate ships. Some looked like they were leaving as I would occasionally see whole crews boarding ships with different supplies while the majority of the pirates seemed to have just arrived just like me. I spread my observation haki to sense for any abnormally strong presence and found none. While there were some noticeable presences, none exuded  enough pressure to alarm me. I docked my ship and grabbed my backpack along with my customized cloak  . I put my saber by my side once again and the gun in its holster before I jumped off the ship to explore whatever place I stumbled on first. The moment I stepped on the soil, I felt a departing ship sink and the multiple presence that was in the water emerged . I zoned my observation haki in that area as I walked like nothing was happening. I made sure to reign my growing conquerors haki that was growing in intensity at an alarming rate once again. The presences continued to linger and move around the sunken ship before more presences gradually started to emerge from the ship. Slight surprise passed through my mind before I dismissed it as I reigned in my observation haki back.The old and new presences had disappeared to different areas i assumed were the different fishman districts. ' Seems like the ship that was sunk was a pirate crew that heavily dealt in the capture and trading of Fish-man slaves. Not that surprising considering the continuous rise of pirates as they increased like rabbits who bred day and night. The presence I sensed under the water must be a fish man unit created by someone. Most likely the royal family I doubt they'd let pirates who specialize in capturing and trading Fish-man leave after blatantly capturing some innocent Fishman. If they did that, it would be seen as a sign of betrayal to the whole fishman race which would then lead to a rebellion which would then lead to a revolution. And I doubt the royal daily or any fish-man wants that any time soon. Well, some who think like Hody Jones and Arlong in this era probably pray for that to happen. Not like it's any of my concern anyways.' I thought about that as I walked up a small path that eventually led to a forest with a lot of trees. I took a moment to take in the breathtaking sight before. I then let my observation haki flow throughout the forest and the results that came back were as expected.
