Chapter 4: Goodbye City

Zooming through the grassland, Seren reached the place that her mana was guiding her to. It was a cliff face with a valley under it.

Transforming back to her human self, Seren walked towards the edge. Her eyes widened as she looked down at the valley below.

"Wow," She muttered. "These are a lot of magic beasts." Seren hadn't really come into contact with many magic beasts. When the war broke out against them, the organization halted its activities, so she really never fought with magic beast before.

Enchanting her eyes with magic, she looked closer. They were canine type magic beasts, werewolves to be exact.

"Why are they so down south? Seren wondered. The territories of the beast clans were up north at the borders of the Ignis kingdom and the Republic of Malefica, away from humans. Scanning the area, Seren looked for the leader of the army.

"There," She muttered. In the middle, sat a werewolf with a silver strip of fur that went from his forehead down to tail, an indication that he was a high-blood magic beast or the leader of this army. Glowering she looked at the way the werewolves were acting. They were meditating, she could even feel the mana in the area was rushing towards them.

"They are getting ready to attack!" She understood. Though she never fought a magic beast, the association taught about them and their ways.

Using the sight worms, she looked into what the three mercenaries minds. Ines and Gray were setting up the wagon. While at the back of the inn Tran was getting hot water. Out the corner of Tran's eyes, she could see the 6 children following him like ducks. They were huddled together, whispering to themselves and were so much cleaner than when she left them.

Seren couldn't stop herself from smiling. Taking one last look at the werewolves, she left.

Back at the inn, the children were still following Tran.

"Shouldn't you be scared of me?" Tran faced the children asking. They just stared at him, not answering him but watching him. Tran turned around but he could still feel the eyes of the children.

"Because I'm scared of you," Tran whispered. Trying to ignore the stares, he went back to boiling the hot water with the fire element magic stones that were left in the inn.

Suddenly Tran could feel his senses sharp, there was an intruder here. Grabbing his sword, Tran was about to swing.

"Calm down, it just me, I wanted to test your skills," Seren patted his back."You sense are good enough to spot a middle-level rogue."

Turning to the children, Seren looked over them again. They looked better than how she saw them through Tran's eyes. The children meet her eyes before looking down and bowing crudely.

"We thank our new master for saving us," Seren frowned. She didn't like being called master by these cute children, however, she knew they would not call her in anyway informally. Slaves had been trained to call those who buy them, master, it was engraved in their minds.

"Don't bow, we are family, go get ready to leave, Ines and Gray should be there to help you get into the wagon. On the other hand, Tran what are you doing?" The children nodded and turned to find the wagon and the other side of the inn.

"Boiling water for you, my lady, we can't have you looking like that when we leave. The bucket is at the side behind the grey wooden door. Your clothes are there too." Tran bowed. Seren nodded at his explanation, she had forgotten about that herself. Lifting the water with magic, she went to go bathe.

"Wow roses petals, is he really a mercenary and not a butler? I picked up a good one." Pouring the hot water into the water in the big bucket, she entered. Closing her eyes, she entered her thoughts.

"We have to leave this city now. With these misunderstandings what should I do? I have luggage now, and I can't move by myself." Seren sighed."I could settle myself in Peles, instead of moving around the kingdom, and start up something. That could work, Peles isn't a bad place to settle in, with what's going to happen there. Plus I might, wait no, I would be able to go against the organization, with a stable base. A place for all my people, that I collect, to reside in." She paused, letting her mind wander on possibilities.

"Then I would have to take over the whole city and its surroundings and make it mine. There won't be enough space if I don't, There are a lot of orphans in the world. Would that not intimidate the kingdoms? An unknown threat that could become another kingdom, and rivals their power. The city does have enough riches to destroy a country. She giggled at herself. "That stupid, I can't take down a country."

"But that all happens in five years. Too much to think about" Seren pulled her head into the water. Her thoughts were all over the place and she needed to calm down.

Knock Knock. "My lady we are ready to go," Tran's voice shouted.

"I will be right out." Getting out of the bath Seen put on the dress that Ines and Gray bought. She didn't know who but one of them had known what they were buying. The flowery lace dress had white on top with lilac on the bottom to match her hair. A purple waistband started the two. Slipping into the dress she wore the white plums shoes that were next to it. Opening the door, she stepped out while spilling into her elegance act.

"My lady looks so cute," Tran said when he saw her. Seren quivered at the word cute, it reminded her of her times in Dan's mansion. However, right now she couldn't show any weakness, not while her act is on.

"I appreciate your comment," Seren took the hand Tran had given out and used it to enter the wagon. Looking around she didn't see the children.

As if Tran could read her mind, "Don't worry they are in the other good carriage, we bought another carriage to hold the food, the money you gave us was enough." Closing the door, Tran left Seren to herself. Soon the carriage started moving, and they reached the outer wall gate that leads southeast.

Because they looked like a noble family leaving the city, the guards didn't question much aside from if they were coming back to the city, in which Seren said no.

Smiling Seren left the city without looking back. "Goodbye."
