Chapter 21: Genesis City 2

Once Will had reached right before the entrance to the inner city, he decided that it would be unwise to continue any further. Based on the glares he was receiving from the guards, Will was certain that he would be stopped if he took another step forward, probably even detained. Will glanced down at his own apparel and let out a small smile. Perhaps he would've been allowed entrance if he still had his royal coat, however, Will had no interest in associating with nobles and rich merchants. He had already experienced what it was like in the water kingdom's capital and found it to be unnecessary and pointless. Nobles and Merchants who flocked to him would only seek benefits and would leave him to die when Will could no longer provide the benefits they desired. Besides, who would believe it if the executed First Prince of Water was still alive? What consequences would it bring?

Will promptly turned to his left before continuing on his way around the inner city wall and made his way to the other parts of the outer city.

Based on his knowledge from reading books and asking adventurers on the journey here, Genesis was sectioned off into multiple areas. There was the obvious inner city section which was separated away from the rest of the city by a giant wall. The section Will was just in was most likely the residential area where the inhabitants of the city resided in with the exception of a few shop owners. The other three sections would be the shopping area, dungeon area, and red light district where all the host clubs and brothels would be.

If what the adventurers said to him was correct, the area he wanted to go to, the dungeon area, would be on the opposite side of the residential area. Will walked alongside the inner wall until he noticed that a delightful smell wafted into his nose. He heard the busy shouts of workers and shopkeepers and turned his head to observe.

Many of the shops were beginning to open up and accept customers and had delectable scents drifting out of their shops, attracting any customers who fell for its temptation. However, no matter how good the scent of the food was, Will didn't choose to buy anything as he knew that he wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Instead, Will kept an eye out for any buildings or shops that didn't sell food but other commodities such as housing, weapons and clothing. It would be nice if he was able to find a alchemy shop so he could stock up on some healing potions and a library.

Will immensely enjoyed reading since he was a child and was curious on wether or not books from a different city would prove to be unique and interesting.

Soon, Will finished passing through the shopping district and arrived at the dungeon district soon after. One immediate thing that Will noticed about the dungeon district was the tense atmosphere that seemed to hover over everyone. Although there was still an occasional laughter in the air, Will could see that nearly everyone had a hard edge in their gaze and expression.

Will finally stopped following the inner wall around and broke off into the dungeon district heading deeper and deeper into the tense area. Will could see that even more people populated this area then compared to the residential district and the shopping district, probably still bigger even with the two of them combined. No matter where Will looked he would be able to see at least three humans or humanoids covered in armor, weapons, and gear.

Every couple hundred feet, Will would be able to see a strange entrance that looked very similar to an entrance that belonged to a long and deep cave. Little signs that read: [beginner dungeon] or [Goblin Nest] or [Major Dungeon] would be propped up right outside of the cave entrances with a few more smaller warning signs.

Truly living up to its name as the City or Dungeons, in the dungeon area, dungeon entrances could be seen everywhere.

Although Will would enter one of these dungeons sooner or later when he went hunting, now was not the time to do so and Will made his way deeper and deeper into the district without a moments hesitation.

After passing by more dungeons and even more people, Will finally arrived at his desired designation and stoped right at the door to the building standing tall and proud before him. Will flicked his eyes up towards the sign and read the words, [Adventurer Guild] before opening the doors and heading in. The inside interior of the adventurer guild was very similar to the one he had been in in the town before he rode on the wagons except it was more filled with sleeping people, drunk people, and dining people and a giant billboard had been placed o the wall furthest from the building entrance.

Will walked over to the billboard, avoiding a drunk fist or stepping over a sleeping adventurer and glanced at the small little sheets of papers that had been tacked on the the board.

The first thing Will noticed was that the papers were actually quests and seemed to be organized by difficulty, with F ranked requests being placed on the left and harder more difficult challenges on the right. In fact, when Will gave a peek at one of the S ranked requests he saw that it was about slaying a particularly strong dragon that had made its layer somewhat fat away from the city.

Although the reward was ludicrously good, Will felt no greed or desire to take the quest. Hunting dragons was an incredibly taxing task and there was a high chance Will would die even if he had multiple A ranked skills, not to mention his current measly looking F ranked ones.

Will liked to set small foreseeable short term goals.

Will scoured the F to E ranked section of requests and ultimately honed in on a request that asked him to collect 10 magic stones from a dungeon with the name of [Beginner Dungeon].

The minimum skill requirement was to possess at least one F rank combat skill and it seemed easy enough for Will to accomplish without breaking a sweat.

Will tore off the paper, brought it over to the receptionist desk and flashed his adventurer card at the receptionist. After receiving the receptionist's nod of approval, Will left the piece of paper with the receptionist and put away his adventurer card before making his way out of the building.

A small grin danced upon Will's lips.

It was time to explore the dungeons that he had read about so much as a child.
