The drive to Ravenhill University was not a long one and Angel soon found herself at the gates, she sighed and stared at the beat-up silver symbol of a lion on the front sign, Ravenhill was not known for being modern.
"New day, new me" she muttered, not feeling it.
She was switching off the engine when someone shoved their face up against the window, Angel screamed and her skin prickled. She slammed the car door and stepped onto the gravel path.
It only took her a moment to realize exactly whose face had been squished against her window.
James was doubled over, clutching his stomach and hiccuping with laughter "That was hilarious" he said, wiping the tears from his eyes. Angel just watched him in a seething rage.
After James was done laughing he gave her a forlorn look "I'm sorry Angel," he said genuinely. Angel just turned and grabbed her bag out of the trunk. She decided to let him grovel for a minute, James was her best friend, and they had been friends since Primary school, but that didn't mean she had to take his crap.
James was a serial blabbermouth, so eventually, the silence became unbearable for him. "Angel I am sorry" he grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes.
Angel just smiled slyly, "its ok James, I forgive you"
James gasped dramatically "You weren't even mad, you tricked me!"
Angel turned "That's not true, I was mad, I just also know it's not worth the energy to not talk to you all day".
"I think you need a coffee or something, you're so grouchy today" James elbowed her in the ribs.
Shoving him back, Angel rolled her eyes "Any interesting news for me today that you've learned among the barista girls"
James rolled his eyes back "Hey, don't mock us baristas, in the zombie apocalypse they will need us to pour scalding hot coffee on the zombies to slow them down while we run away!"
"I think you just watch too much TV, to be honest, James, now tell me anything, please I need news". Angel slouched in front of a window while putting on her silver tear-drop earrings. "Otherwise, I will be bored all day, I have Professor Wolph later for my 1:30 lecture and you know what he's like".
Laughing, James nodded "Okay okay chill! So the girls say that there is a new guy in the 202 History Lecture and apparently he is so hot that Prof Jane forgot what she was saying mid-rant!"
Angel just stared at him "James, how many times do I have to tell you, boys less, study more, besides isn't Janey like 80?"
James raised an eyebrow "Old people need to get down sometimes too Ang".
"Ewww, I did not need that mental image at this hour of the morning James"
"Did you know nursing homes often have problems with-"
Angel grabbed James, hugging him tightly while smacking him hard on the back, "See you later pal".
James spluttered while Angel quickly walked to her class, thankfully in the other direction to James's class.
At class Angel went to sit down at her table when she was shoved violently, dropping her books all over the floor. "Damn it, my notes" she muttered, grabbing them off the floor.
"Uh sorry..." a voice came from above where she was bending down, Angel looked up to see a boy with short black hair staring down at her.
She stood up, stuffing her notes back in her History Lecture book, then turned to look him in the eye. To her fascination, his eyes were green and blue.
Embarrassed, the boy rubbed the back of his neck "I'm new here" he offered. Angel huffed out a sigh, then put out her hand for him to shake "I'm Angel".
He raised an eyebrow at her, "Is that really your name?"
Angel crossed her arms "Yes, it is, why?"
He smiled "Nothing, I've just never heard that name before."
