Chapter 1: Prologue
Long ago, it is said that the sun and moon both shone during the day. The sun shone with a warm, inviting light, and the moon shone with a cold, harsh light. The sun loved the moon, so she let her shine at the same time. The humans did not like that. The cold light of the moon was not good for crops to grow and it was not warm or inviting like the sun. The nights were dark back then, only illuminated by the weak glow of the stars. The people begged the moon, "Don't shine during the day. You ruin our crops and scare the animals we hunt. Shine at night, so that our children may not fear the dark of the night sky."
The sun heard the people, and she got upset. How dare mere humans tell her lover to inconvenience herself for them?
The sun spoke to the moon. "You mustn't go my love. The humans know nothing of your life." The moon nodded sadly. "We were put in this world to protect the humans. It is my duty to do as they ask. Please my love, lend me your light as I move to the night sky." The sun begged and pleaded, but the moon would not budge. And so the sun lent her light to the moon, who now shines proudly in the night sky.
The lovers can never be out at the same time, and thus never see each other, but the moon feels the warm light from her lover, and she rejoices.
