Chapter 15: The Gathering (1) - 14

"I present, the 7th Young Master and the 9th Young Miss of the Aeronwen Family."

"..."

I had no fucking clue why that guy just did that when we were literally the first ones to arrive.

You see, unlike the other two of the big three families, the Aeronwens, instead of coming in late to show off their alpha male powers, came early, to show off the sigma male type of energy.

And well, the problem with this, as we had found out in our first lives, and had found out again in this life, was that we often had to just wait for long periods, as, for some reason, we were always required to arrive at least three hours early according to Aeronwen standards!

A fucking death sentence if you had to ask me about it, as, when I had to solo some of those meetings due to my sister being deemed "too important" in my first life, well, let's just say I found a lot of ways to entertain myself without anyone else being there.

At least, this time, both my sister and I were here, so, I wouldn't be bored that much if we just kept up some small talk.

But nah, we were both much more worried about something else, so, this time, I was the one that laid my head on her lap as we sat down on the circular couch surrounding the circular table in the middle where we were supposed to have our "first" gathering with the other young masters and missus.

Curling up against the rounded edge, I immediately got to thinking, as this time, it was Yuki that fiddled around with the regions of my body above my shoulders.

As for me, I was just absentmindedly twirling around a part of the hem of her dress over and over again, thinking about what was to come.

"No maidens?" I asked her, truly curious about something.

"Yes, if I remember correctly, there are only Judases and Eves, other than "him" of course."

"Ah, then that makes our lives easier, right?"

To this, she only looked down at me weirdly, as she was probably thinking of something along the lines of,

'Are you crazy or what?'

I mean, yeah, it was kind of crazy to prefer schemers over happy-go-lucky type people, but like, I also knew schemers the best being one myself, so I just personally thought it was easier.

And, as for two of the others at this meeting, I literally held their dad in the palm of my hand, so I didn't even need to worry about them.

So, out of the 7 people attending this meeting, I only really had to worry about my sister, and the three children of the sword family.

"And who do you want to go for this meeting, other than "him" of course."

"Probably Son or Seori, they'd hold the most benefit for me." (A/N: "Son" as in the Korean name and not the fact that you're the male child of someone.)

Hearing this, I looked at her with a pretty surprised expression on my face, as she had just told me her intentions directly, but like, I appreciated the trust, but she would never be able to realize her vision.

I mean, she was going after the two children of the Trantor Family, and well, like I said above, their father was already in my hands.

So, I just silently laughed a little in my head, before coming back in all seriousness again.

And, just like that, exactly two hours and fifty-two minutes passed.

...

"..."

"Why did I expect them to come on time again?"

Asking this rhetorical question out loud, I could only sigh in my heart.

"Don't you remember anything from the previous time we did this?"

"Nope."

Alright, alright, it was definitely my fault here.

After all, I did mention above that they would arrive late to show off their power.

But like, we were all called the "Big Three" for a reason, and so, like, why was coming in late even necessary when they weren't even any other, smaller, families here?

Sighing... as I had forgotten about the dumb "necessities" in this world after being in a world where everybody arrived on time or sent in a notice beforehand if they were going to be late when showing up to a meeting.

Also, if you were wondering why I couldn't remember anything from the last time I had this meeting, it was simple, that was like, 400 years ago, and, not having a superhuman memory like Yuki until I turned into a vampire, I was literally screwed in that sense.

I only remembered the important things that happened, nothing more, nothing less.

And like, if you were wondering why I hadn't just memorized this when the kid wrote the novel, it was because the novel started right when the MC was leaving for Halcyon.

So, the only mention of this meeting in the novel had been something like, "The MC first met the villain at some random ass meeting five years ago."

Of course, it wasn't exactly like that, but you get the gist, right?

Anyways, basically, everything was working against my memory at this point, so I could only play it by ear, or, in other words, "Go with the flow."

Yes, this was my actual plan, unlike what my sister thought.

I definitely wouldn't be the one steering the conversation, my sister and the MC could do that.

I had just thought up of millions of different pathways that the conversations could go, and what I would do in each situation should the talks lead there.

Yup, this method was probably a lot more tiring than actively steering the conversation, as I had spent a lot of my mental reserves thinking about the millions of different pathways, but, once again, in the end, not even my millions of predictions could predict everything, and so, I would just "go with the flow".

Easy, right?

Except, one gigantic curveball that I had forgotten to account for was thrown into the situation before the two other convoys had even arrived.

"I present, the Young Master and the Young Missus."

Looking up immediately after hearing this, as I was surprised to hear no family name, a suddenly flash of annoyance came to me, before the fleeting feeling faded away.

Of course, my face was a cold as stone the whole time, but now, I couldn't help but look up at the ceiling and sigh internally.

All my plans were now literal dogshit.

'Fuck, how could I forget about them...'

'The son and daughters of the Magistrate of Lumi.'

Just...

Fucking hell...
