The rogue group raced down the hill as one. The sounds of their padded paws was drowned out by the growls and soon after, the sounds of bodies hitting one another. Shouting accompanied the collisions and soon the sounds of the fight filled the air.

Ada leapt into a female who had been about to shift, tackling her to the ground and the two of them rolled across the path. Ada sprung up and away from her, but before she could mount another attack, Kyle tackled the female and the two of them rolled down the path.

Fughting was happening all around, and as Ada was attempting to find another target, her eyes landed on the Male from before. She burst into action, dodging around a fighting pair and as the Male was lowering himself down to shift, Ada slammed her body into his.

As they collided, she could feel heat flood through her, a shudder that had nothing to do with roughly slamming into a rock surged down her spine. They both tumbled down the hill, the Male digging his hands into the rocky soil in an attempt to slow his decent.

Ada bounced to a stop on the edge of the river, shifting back with a groan as she grabbed her ribs. The Male was on his feet with a growl and Ada lifted her eyes to his face, watching as he froze. She felt the warm surge through her and let out a breath as she forced herself to her feet.

"You have to go." She grunted, unsteadily taking a step toward him. He seemed frozen, except for his eyes as they greedily drunk in her nude form. Ada advanced toward him again, stopping just in front of him.

"You have to go!" She growled louder, but shouting for fear of one of the others hearing her. She could smell blood and a quick inspection of him showed her that he had tore up his hands to stop himself from going into the water. He still didn't move, causing Ada to growl in annoyance and she grabbed his wrists.

A slightly strangled gap escaped him as her hands grabbed his wrists and she brought his bloody hands to her face. She ignored the title geli g sensation that spread across her skin, the growing fire in her chest and the shudder down her spine as she rubbed his blood over her face, neck and hair.

When she let go of him and stepped back, he finally moved. He shifted toward her and raised his hands as she moved back more.

"Leave! Now! Go!" She snapped, wincing as she shifted and sprinted back up the hill. She heard his voice behind her, anguish filling her as she pushed on, creating the hill and barking as she took off down the trail. More barks and the sounds of running padded feet being her told her that anyone who had survived was right in her heels.

They ran down the path for twenty minutes before they cut a sharp left and crashed through the underbrush. From there they swam across a pond to help lose their scent in the pungent water. Out the other side they ran for another half hour before coming to a stop not far from camp.

As they were all trying to catch their breath, Kyle growled at them to get their attention.

"What the fuck happened back there!?" He snapped, a dangerous tone promising pain. A few of the others just shook their heads at him, his anger mounting as no one spoke. When it looked as though he might explode, Ada grunted.

"We were out classed." She said as she raised her eyes, meeting his cold gaze with one of disinterest.

"They were better trained. They were ready for us. I told you it was a bad idea." She said to him, ducking and spinning away from him as he took a swing at her head.

"Just where were you during that fight? Hm?" He asked, a smugness mixed in with his anger. Ada narrowed her eyes as his unspoken accusation.

"Fighting for my life." She replied sternly. He growled a warning at her, but her gaze hardened.

"I took one of them down the slope toward the river. Tried to drown him, but he shook me off." She explained. She could see Kyle as his eyes then scaned her body. He could see the minor cuts and bruises, the deep dark bruise on her left side, and the blood still all over her face. He took a step close and inhaled deeply. The blood was not her own.

He growled and stepped back from her, unhappy but content with her answer. She could see suspicion in his eyes that she knew was going to grow into parionoia, and eventually rage. Rage directed at her. She was going to have to get out of there soon. There were plenty of other rogue groups she could slip into to the north.

They all made it back to camp and tended to their own wounds. Sleep was uneasy for all of them and the next morning had them breaking camp without breakfast. Had they won the fight, they would have slept in to recover. They had lost three of their number and only taking down one of theirs. They had to get moving before they were found.

To make it harder to find all in the group, there was a chosen destination as a meeting point and everyone went their separate ways.

Ada was moving slower than she did normally, her bruised ribs slowing her down quite a bit. The pack she was carrying had her food rations, her tent and sleeping bag and some extra clothing. Normally the bag was not heavy, she was strong because of the lifestyle she had to live. Being injured was going to be a problem for her. The injury to her ribs was a weakness and she knew it was one that Kyle would jump at the opportunity to exploit.

It was a warm late autumn day, and as the sun rose higher in the sky Ada became aware of how comfortable the warm weather was making her. With the injury to her ribs she found that trucking through the wild and overgrown woods was more laborious than it had been when she was in top condition.

Despite and pain and discomfort caused by labored movement and the heat, Ada was still on alert and aware of her surroundings. She had started off her treck alone but became aware that she was being followed after a couple of hours of silent travel. She could not tell who it was at first, but she was able to catch their scent when the wind shifted and she clenched her jaw. Kyle.

Pretending that she had not smelled him, Ada continued on her path toward the meeting point. It would bring her near a river where she could stop for water, deciding that she would set her trap there.

It was another hour before she came to the river. She smelled it before she heard it and shifted her path just a little so that it would bring her to the edge. It was slow moving but deep in the area she came across, slipping her bag off with a grunt as she crouched down and placed her hand in the cold water. it was crisp and as she rubbed her wet hand over the back of her sweaty neck, she closed her eyes and sighed in contentment.

There was a subtle shift in the air and Kyle's scent grew strong as she lowered her hand back into the water. The most that grew along the bank muffled the sound of his footsteps, but not enough. She lifted just her eyes as she felt his presence right behind her and as she felt the electric sensation of danger race down her spine, she spun around and dropped to her back, just in time to catch him with one leg and throw him over her and into the water.

She rolled over and leapt to her feet, as he scrambles up out of the water and dove at her. Easily rolling out of the way, Ada growled deeply at him and lunged. She managed to land a heavy punch to his face, but he retaliated with an elbow to her ribs, which caused her to yelp and stagger back. Not one to miss and opportunity, Kyle surged forward and grabbed her shoulders as he shoved her back.

They both splashed down into the water, him on top of her and he easily pushed her under the water. Her heart raced in her chest as she fought to pushed him off or get his hands free from her. He fought back, keeping her submerged. Panic was her enemy in this and Ada knew that. She kept her movements frantic as if she was doing all she could while she was probing for a weakness. She could see his blurred face up through the water. She had her opening.

She slowed her movements even as her lungs burned for hair and she could feel him relax slightly. He knew he was winning and was going to enjoy this. Ada felt sick to her stomach as she thought of what he would do with her body.

Her movements slowed more and she felt his grip relax more. It was time. All at once she surged up, shoving his arms to the sides and thrust her arms up, claws extended as she raked them down his face. He howled in pain and threw himself back. Ada surfaced long enough to breath before she drove back into the dark waters of the river. she swam deep and pulled herself along the bottom with fallen trees and debris. On thee surface she could just make out the sound of Kyle's voice, but she remained under the icy waters

Controlling her heart and slowing it down, she remained underwater until the burning in her lungs became unbearable. She surfaced slow and behind a tree that had fallen un the water. She let out the breath she was holding slowly and then sucked in a slow deep breath. Looking toward the shore where her bag had been, she could see that it and Kyle were gone.

She remained in the water, hidden by the tree. It was hours before she finally pulled herself out, shivering from the cold as the sun was setting. She rubbed her arms as she slogged through the forest, headed away from the meeting point with the others. There was no way she could meet back up with them, not after the encounter with Kyle.

This meant that she was a rogue without a group. Dangerous to packs and rogue groups alike. Being alone and without other wolves, the solitude did things to your mind. Ada felt it was worse for her, the ache in her chest was growing and the more she tried to ignore it, the more it hurt.

Her mate. She had found her mate. A bittersweet moment when she thought about it. He was there, string and protected in a pack. But he was in a pack. She was part of the group of rogues that had attacked him and his pack mates. She was just a rogue, not worthy of a mate who was happy and loved.

The sun had set and with her clothing still damp, Ada kept walking. The temperature had dropped to close to freezing and her chattering breath came out in white puffs as she half stumbled through the underbrush. Her chest hurt more than it had before and as she shivered harder, it was becoming all consuming pain.

She pushed on, too stubborn to stay down when she stumbled down onto her knees. Her will to survive is what drove her, one foot placed in front of the other as she continued on. She had no destination and she was keeping all of her attention to her surroundings, making it so that no one would sneak up on her. She was not plotting a course or trying to get to any set place, she was just trying to get through the night.

Morning came slow, and with it the heat the sun offered. Ada had no idea how far she had gotten over the night, but there was no scent of wolves in the area and she knew that she was completely alone. Thinking about it, the ache in her chest grew and she shifted her hands from her arms to her chest. The mate pull was weak, but growing steadily. She wanted to ignore and reject it, but she didn't think she would ever see him again. She was deep in the thick forests of Oregon and they had lost him and those with him. The loneliness was setting in.

With no time to feel sorry for herself, Ada found a good place to make camp and gathered supplies to started a fire. She built high stone walls around it to hide the flame and got herself warm and dry before scouring the area for food. Werewolves had fast healing, but she had to eat to keep her energy up. It was close to winter so there was very little, and without the safety of the group or a pack, hunting any thing large was out of the question. Hunting was not an option at all with her injured ribs.

She found a few tubers and late berries, but it was not enough. She ate what she had and found a place to sleep. Her sleep was restless, as always, but made harder with her injured ribs and and the pull of the mate bond. She dreamed of him, and of the people she had killed. Just another face to add to her collection. She woke again when night was falling, stocking her fire to keep her warm.

This was her routine for three days, expanding her area of search for food and sleeping during the day while keeping the fire going at night. It was during one of the nights she was keeping warm that she smelled them. Wolves. They were wolves she knew and a quiet growl rumbled in her chest. Kyle was back and he had brought the others.

Stripping out of her clothing quickly, she shifted and slinked away from the fire, and away from where the smell of the others was coming from. She knew how they would ambush her and she past their line before they encircled her. She guessed that Kyle had them all hunting for her since the river and one of them had picked up her scent. Now she smelled of smoke and would be harder to track through the forest.

Once she was sure she was past their range of hearing, she took off in a sprint. She was only running a short time before she heard the howls pick up behind her. They got her scent again and were onto her. She picked up speed, ignoring the pain in her chest as she ran. She could not let it slow her down. This was a sprint for her life and she knew it. Fighting would put her at a disadvantage with her bruised ribs and since they were all rogues, there would be no honor in the fight.

The run seemed to take no time before she burst out I to an open area and was quicklysurrounded. She snarled loudly at them, but did not give them a chance to rally their attack before she drove at a tan colored wolf. This was Jessy, she knew, and she knew that he would submit long before she had to kill him. That did not mean he did not put up a fight, making sure to go for her ribs and ears as they tussled in the ground.

Ada managed to break free and sprinted into the forest again. Howls started up in front of her and she felt her heart drop. It did not stop or deter her run, but it did distract her long enough for a grey and red wolf to slam into her side.

She could. ot help the Yelp of pain that escaped her and she snarled loudly as she grabbed any bits of fur that were not her own. She amanged to get a good hold and thrashed her head as she sunk her teeth in deeply. Yelps let her know that she had done damage and she quickly disengaged. The pain in her chest was worse and it was hard for her to breath.

Her running was slowed as she continued forward, the howls in front of her only making her think how to take out the next wave. She managed to dodge another attack from the side, but she stumbled and fell, feeling her legs buckle under her and she tumbled, rolling down a mound of moss to come to a stop on a hard path.

The howls grew louder as she shifted, grunting in pain as she attempted to push herself up. She had to keep going, she had to out pace them. She sucked in a painful breath as Kyled and his wolves crested the hill above her, just as more wolves surged out of the greenery on the other side.

Her head was swimming, her vision blurring as she felt her strength fading. It was hard to breath and she could taste blood, an odd bubbling feeling in her chest as she felt teeth on her left arm. Everything went black as the fading sounds of fighting filled her head.
