Chapter 14: A New Member
Meanwhile, Matthew felt an enormous burden weighing on his body after activating the skill.
Matthew then knelt down and began to breathe breathlessly, as if he had just done an extremely intense training, Bethany then helped him to stand up, while a spark went through her eyes as she made a decision inwardly that no one on the scene noticed and so she asked Matthew:
"Are you alright? What happened?"
It took Matthew a minute to control her breathing and said to Bethany:
"It's no big deal, it's just that this skill consumes a large part of my stamina and puts a heavy burden on my body."
Bethany then felt relieved and when she was going to say something to Matthew she heard the young man, who Matthew just saved screaming in despair while fleeing crawling from Matthew and Bethany:
"No, don't kill me, please don't kill me."
Matthew scared when he realized that the young man was screaming and then looked around to see if any zombie had been listened the young male, when he saw that no zombie had heard the screams of the young man, Matthew then aimed the sword at the young man and said:
"Shut up or you'll attract zombies to us."
Which only made the situation worse because the young man began to pee again as he trembled with fear and begged for mercy.
Matthew then put the sword in the inventory to calm the young man and said:
"Calm down, no one here will hurt you, why do you think we would hurt you?"
The young man still trembling said:
"Please don't kill me, I'll even give you my katana that I won at roulette wheel."
Then the young man threw the katana at Matthew, who analyzed it:

Seeing that the katana had nothing worth mentioning, beyond to the fact that it was extremely sharp, it would cause greater cut damage than even its sword of uncommon-grade, he gave the katana to Bethany as he spoke to the young man.
"I wouldn't kill you anyway, but I will not deny a gift since you insist on giving it to me, why would you think I would kill you?"
The young man, realizing that Matthew didn't really are going to kill him, began to compose himself as he spoke:
"Anyone who saw you in your present appearance would think the same as I do."
Matthew then surprised asked the young man:
"What is the problem with my look?"
It was then that Bethany finally realized what the young man had just said he backed off a bit as he answered Matthew's question while he stammered a little:
"Y- yo- you are covered in blood."
Matthew then replied in an angry tone:
"I'm sorry for being covered in blood, but it turns out that when you kill something close to you in close range combat, you usually get bloody."
Bethany said to Matthew as she smiled:
"You're right, I'm sorry, I'm just not used to it yet."
The young man then said:
"How was everything explained, would you mind telling me where you're going?"
Matthew while had an unfavorable impression of the young man said in a rude way:
"Our primary goal was to get to the dining hall, not that you really need to know anything, otherwise you can pee again."
The young man, as if he did not care for the insult directed at him, answered in a self-deprecating manner:
"Well, I've never been accustomed to fighting, I've always done the smart and logical-type, but when I found out that I had a system I thought I'd be someone important to everything that's going on, unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to details, everyone has a system too and I was influenced by my emotion to follow the path of the fight, after all even a nerd like I want a life of adventures. "
"Anyway, all I can say is that if you let me join your group I will be a valuable addition to you in the future, by the way my name is Thobias Carter."
Matthew then said at once as he began to walk toward the dining hall:
"I refuse, I don't need cowards who will pee in the pants for any reason following me."
Then Thobias said:
"Yes, I can fear for my life and even be considered coward by some, well by almost all indeed, but the world has never benefited the brave and strong, the world has always been governed by the intelligent and smart if you let me join in your group, I would be a valuable strategist. "
Matthew then began to laugh when he said:
"My ambition has never been so big that I wanted to rule the world, I just want to find and know if my parents are alive."
Thobias then answered Matthew as he tidied up his clothes, cleaning it and following Matthew and Bethany:

Matthew with a gentle heart and knowing that there was logic in his words said:
"Okay you can join my group, by the way my name is Matthew Parker and hers is Bethany Clifford."
Bethany then said quietly:
"Hey, I wish I could say my own name did you know?"
Matthew chuckled as he continued walking to the dining hall, but what neither him nor Thobias realized was that Bethany was looking at the [LOTTERY] section of the system while her eyes glowed with determination.
