Chapter 8: Hungry
Matthew then decided to begin his training with the sword while waiting for his mana to refuel.
After five hours practicing with the sword a screen appeared before Matthew:
* Ding * "Congratulations to the user for leveling his [BASIC MASTERY WITH SWORDS] to level 2, granted +2 months of sword training experience."
Matthew was surprised at how fast he was able to upgrade his mastery because the training and asked the system:
"Training is so easy like that? And how did my mastery level up? I clearly remember that there were no levels for mastery before. "
* Ding * "It was easy to level your mastery because you are in the beginning, as you advance in the classification it will become increasingly difficult and more time will be spend to improve your classification."
"The higher beings decided that to facilitate the understanding of humans in how close they are to move to the next level of mastery puting a experience system."
Surprised Matthew asked the system:
"Did the deities not plan everything carefully?"
* Ding * "Higher beings have decided in a few moments that judgment would fall on their world, so there may be some things you would call "bugs" which will be corrected quickly as soon as they are identified."
Matthew was surprised by the very notion that the deities would forget something and was even more surprised to learn that everything that was happening was a mere whim on their part and not something planned.
With the mana in half he decided to leave again, he was starving after these hours of training and needed to eat something urgently, but had a big problem for him to be able to do that, how he would go out and get to the dining room safely, being that he was in a dorm and would probably be full of zombies along the way? He barely managed to deal with a zombie picture with a horde of them.
Before leaving the room he talked again with the system:
"System I almost died because a bug, when I cut off the zombie's arm, there seemed to be no resistance whatsoever and with that I got unbalanced, how was I able to cut off the zombie's arm so easily?"
* Ding * "The user really has a precarious intelligence, his [SWORD OF LIGHT] is an uncommon-grade sword, which can cut through an iron armor easily, it is obvious that the zombie arm would not present any resistance to the sword . "
Realizing the reason Matthew almost felt like killing himself because of his grave mistake that could easily be avoided, but decided to move on this time he opened the bedroom door again, this time being careful to check the surroundings not to be caught by surprise.
Noticing that there was no danger he left the room and walked toward the stairs, Matthew lived on the third floor of his bedroom and would have to be careful when he went to the dining room, since each floor had about a hundred people, because the rooms were shared.
Matthew was coming down the stairs trying to make as little noise as possible, and after the longest ten seconds of his life he reached the second floor, unfortunately for Matthew the builders did not seem smart enough because the third floor staircase was at one end and the second-floor staircase was at the other end.
And fortunately, or unfortunately, he could see two zombies standing in the middle of the hallway, listening to more and more desperate screams across the campus and noises coming from the rooms on the second floor.
Matthew was walking silently toward the zombies, he intended to attract the attention of a zombie and after killing him fight with the other, but unfortunately fate decided to nail a piece on it when his stomach began to snore.
