Chapter 3: Going Out With A Bang

- Princess Amiria's tower-

Hundreds of loose papers with strange writing on them were spread across the floor, messy and unorganized. In the middle of the room, was a large chalk circle with unknown symbols drawn threw out it.

A slender, and incredibly beautiful girl sat with her legs crossed in the middle of it. Her Long silver hair pooled around her body in an elegant embrace. Her face was calm, and her eyes shut in full concentration.

Small orbs of light danced around the room, circulating around and dancing freely around her body. The orbs were a mixture of hundreds of colors, lighting the once dark room with their beautiful rainbow like glow.

Not many people were able to use magic, and even fewer could gather the magic around them and absorb that power and make it their own.

Amiria was truly a prodigy. If she hadn't been locked up since birth, there would be no doubt her skills in magic would of brought her alot of attention from people seeking to have that power for themselves.

Many people would go their whole lifetime without ever laying eyes on even a novice magician. With the demand for magic being so high, and the quantity of those being able to use it was so low; magicians were one of the highest paid profession out there.

Magicians were view as the children of the gods.

Anyone that could wield magic was revered and highly respected even if their skills with it were on the lower end of the spectrum.

Amiria ,though, was a true prodigy among prodigies. Not only was she highly skilled, but she was also self taught. It's one thing for someone to have a good teacher and strive, but a completely other to have taught themself with no outside help from others. Everything that she knew, she had read in books, or simply figured out with trials and errors.

With very little practice, she seemed to understand and master any spell that she read about. What was hard for others, came naturally to her.

The only troubles she seemed to have was trying to teach her beloved kitten to do the same.

Spirt Beasts were naturally inclined to the magic in the world, just as plants and spirits were. The veil that separated magic from the rest of the world was thinnest with such creatures. With enough cultivating and training, a sprit beast would find it quite easy to even use a human form if they chose to do so, just as Mikel does.

Learning was easy for her, but finding a way to teach what was in her head was easier said then done. Luckily for her, Mikel was quite dedicated to her cause, and would always try his best to understand all of her lessons. The boy would never give up even if it took months for him to fully grasp somthing she wanted him to learn.

When Amiria was young she found a spell that could summon low level spirt beasts, and Mikel was the beast that answered her call. He was like a newborn kitten, and her heart was smitten the second her eyes met his. She spent the next five years helping him grow and training him to be a mage like her. Despite being a spirt beast, she chose to make him her very first apprentice.

She wasn't his birth mother, but she was the person that brought him into this world. It was only fitting that she would care for him and train him to be an exceptional young man.

An intense powerful force continuously filled her chest, making her body feel hot. Her breathing became shallow, and she had to focus her mind to regulate her body in order for her not to be harmed by the sudden rush of magic power. If one wasn't careful, then they could harm their internal organs severely and even die.

When her body was finaly filled to its maximum capacity, she slowly opened her silver eyes and got one last glimpse of the colorful orbs floating around her before they began to faded away. She loved the way they seemed to dance around her, like a room filled with a rainbow of fluttering butterflies.

After cultivating all day, she finally had enough magic to make her grand escape. Her face twisted into an evil grin, and she almost felt like she could laugh. The almighty King never once thought of his daughter after he locked her away, and because of his neglect she was going to take everything he owned from him. It was almost comical.

"Mistress, Mikel has completed his mission! Here to report!" a small black cat suddenly appeared on the floor in front of her, bringing a black cloud of smoke with him. The only way in and out of the tower was threw magic.

It was almost impossible for a human to teleport themselves as they pleased, but a beast small in size could easily pop In and out without worry.

The small cat slowly morphed into a young boy, his black fur turned to smooth skin, and his feline face turned chubby and child like. Wearing his normal black and white butler's uniform, he looked like a cute little gentleman. His yellow eyes shined brightly, full anticipation wanting to be praised.

"Very good, my love. And what of Alistair's rescue mission? Did he escape properly?"

"Yes, Mistress! He will meet us at the Thieves Guild as Mistress has instructed."

She ruffled his hair with her hand with approval, making his allready curly black hair even wilder.

"Since everything is in place, it's time to leave this brick prison." Her words come out strange to her. How many times had she dreamed of saying those exact words? She would finally free herself from these tower's walls. It almost felt as if she was dreaming, it felt so unreal.

She scooped Mikel in her arms, and placed him on her hip, just as she had done a hundred times before. It was how someone would carry a toddler.

He didnt seem to mind her sudden embrace. In fact, he used this chance to snuggled him self closer to her. A big grin spread across his cute little face, like a child given his favorite treat.

"What do you say we blow this tower to smithereens while we're at it." Her eyes narrowed and her aura turned menacing. This way, that old man will know exactly what caused his palace to be turn to nothing but ash, a calling card of sorts. She would shatter this prison he put her in, and rub everything she had taken away from him in his face.

She stood tall in the middle of the chalk circle, and started to concentrate on casting her spells. Subconsciously her arms tighten around Mikel, making sure that he would stay in place and away from harm's way.

The circle around them began to glow a bright and brilliant blue light. The small orbs of light began to filled the room once again, signaling the spell was beginning to activate. They formed from nothing, and twisted around the room like a tornado or colors.

Her eyes clamped shut in concentration, and all the magic she had been building up began to swell and swirl within her. The air became very dense and heavy, it felt as if she was at the bottom of a very deep lake with pressure all around her.

The ground began to shake, and large cracks spread out under her feet making the whole tower tremble. Bricks began to fall from the walls, crashing to the already breaking ground.

The floor steadily crumbled apart to the ground below the tower, leaving only the ground withing the circle untouched. Soon, there was nothing but the night sky and the glow of the full moon to keep them company.

They stood miles high into to the sky, and felt that they were almost able to touch the stars with their bare hands.

The circle she had drawn served as a type of protection. It left the ground within it stong and unbroken, making it easy to still stand on.

She could see birds flying freely in the sky around her, and the lights of the vast kingdom spread out beneath like a sea of fireflies.

She used her free hand to pull out a hand full of sparkling black power from her robe pocket, bringing it to her lips and blew it toward the still burning Palace below her.

"I'll leave you one last present before I leave, Father. For the rest of your mortal life you will be cursed with misfortune. Let your land die, your money deplete, and let your man hood rot and fall to the ground."

Curse spells were extremely hard to complete, but very effective when done right. Once someone was cursed, their life was no longer their own. Whomever casted the spell would get their desired outcome, no matter how cruel it may be. If she said that she wanted his man hood to fall off, then It would literally fall off.

She found curses quite comical, and was her preferred way to make someone suffer. It took years to conduct the perfect spell for her father but it was worth the long wait.

The black powder drifted downwards threw the air, dancing on it's way to it cursed target. Everything he found pleasure in, she had crushed beneath her feet, just as he had done to her. It brought her joy she thought she would never live long enough to experience.

"Mistress, what is a man hood?" Mikel titled his head to the side, pure innocence in his voice.

"You're too young to think of such things. When you get older I will have Alistair explain it to you properly. I am too tired now, my beloved. Would use a transportation spell to get us to Thieves Guild?"

Mikel nodded his head, and released a thick black mist that consumed both their bodies completely. Within seconds the circle was empty. Without the caster to maintain the spell, the remaining ground crumbled apart and fell to the ground like it was raining bricks.

The tower had disappeared completely, like her time there was nothing at all but a bad dream.
