Chapter 9: Stupid and Useless
"Why did you say things like that?!"
Xu Linlang stared at Peng Xinya in disbelief. The latter then rolled her eyes and only responded with a soft murmur, complaining that she didn't need to be nagged all day.
"Don't worry, mother." Peng Xinya took her mother's hand and gently stroke it. "I will handle it all."
Feeling touched by the gesture, Xu Linlang sighed and sat beside her. "But still, you have been too rash. As much as I hate to say it, Xu Liluo is smart. She certainly doesn't believe what you've said earlier."
Peng Xinya frowned, finding that her mother was overthinking the matter. "If she didn't believe me, she would have kicked us out earlier."
"That's true... But what about Bai Shizhen? He will expose you of your lies."
"Aish," Peng Xinya waved her hands. "Xu Liluo is a territorial woman. No matter what he said, she will have a hard time believing him now."
Xu Linlang silently nodded her head. With Xu Liluo's temper, if she knew the truth, she would've mocked them and immediately chased them out. But weren't they inside the Bai Mansion now? Ha! That wench must be scared to death. Xu Liluo allowed them to stay because she thought she could easily threaten them and force Peng Xinya to abort the child. That must be it.
Too bad that she had made a big mistake! By allowing them to be in the Bai Mansion, Peng Xinya's chance in seducing Bai Shizhen had only gotten higher. If seducing didn't work, then they would resort to the drugs they've prepared beforehand.
It was only a matter of time now.
Xu Linlang couldn't contain the excitement in her heart as she thought of Xu Liluo's face when she discovered the husband she'd been together with for more than twenty years, on a bed with her niece!
"What's our next move?"
"Hmm," Peng Xinya hummed while rubbing her chin. "I guess we should focus on Uncle Zhen now. Long as we're staying here, we can carry out our plan whenever we want!"
Xu Linlang smiled proudly and caressed her daughter's head, in a loving tone she said, "My daughter is so smart. You take after me a lot."
Peng Xinya sneered, a glint of mockery passed through her eyes.
Her mother was actually so shameless to dare say it out loud. If she were to take after her mother, then she would be stupid and useless! Even after twenty years, she didn't manage to seduce Bai Shizhen. If she had succeeded, then Peng Xinya wouldn't have to sacrifice her youthful body for a fifty year old man!
She was the one who was supposed to be the adored and respected Bai Young Miss, not Bai Ruoxi!
Peng Xinya would snatch it back for sure. She would get back everything that was supposed to be hers! By then, Bai Ruoxi wouldn't even be worthy to be compared with the speck of dust under her shoes.
Just wait until she finally bore Bai Shizhen a son. Even her mother, Xu Linlang would need to kiss her feet. Needless to say, Xu Liluo and Bai Ruoxi would then only be some pathetic beggars.
Peng Xinya looked down to her stomach with a warm smile, both her hands were circled around her waist. "Mommy will definitely have daddy plant his seed inside and create you, the heir of the Bai Family."
A few hours later, the sky was turning dark as it indicated it was time for dinner. Xu Linlang and Peng Xinya got up and intended to leave their cramped room. But when they tried to open the door, it wouldn't even budge.
"What's the meaning of this?!" Xu Linlang's fist pounded on the door. She looked through the peephole and found somebody standing by the side of the door. "You! Open the door! Don't you know who I am?!"
The two men who were standing on guard continued to ignore Xu Linlang as she shrieked like a mad woman.
"Mom, what's happening?"
"They locked the door from the outside!"
"What?!"
As if disbelieving Xu Linlang, Peng Xinya tried to open the door by herself. When she realized they were really trapped inside, she reached her bag for her phone. She rummaged through it for a few seconds before remembering that Bai Ruoxi had confiscated all means of communication from them.
Peng Xinya tightened her jaw as her fingernails dug into her palm. "That slut!"
Xu Linlang started to grow worried. Bullet of sweat formed on her forehead as she started to chew on her nails, a habit when she's extremely agitated. "What do we do now, Xinya?! I told you she wasn't dumb enough to actually let us stay here! Especially since you blabbered those obvious lies!"
"Shut up! I'm thinking!"
Peng Xinya's eyes darted around to scan her surroundings. There were no windows since they're underground, so they had no way of getting out except for the door.
'No no no! I'm the future Matriarch! I will not be locked in here!'
She started to pace around the room with her hands crossed on her chest. Peng Xinya gritted her teeth so tightly to the point where it hurt, but her delusional mind prevented her from feeling the pain.
"Xinya..."
"Shut up! I told you I'm--"
Peng Xinya's words stopped halfway when she spotted a small white flower vase. "That's it!"
Xu Linlang stared at her daughter in confusion and followed her line of sight. "Xinya, you are not..."
A smile bloomed on her lips as she turned to look at Xu Linlang. Peng Xinya then grabbed the vase and threw it onto the floor, instantly shattering the vase. She bent down and picked up a piece of the broken glass and cut her wrist, not deep but enough to let her blood drip.
"Xinya! What are you doing?!"
"Hurry, get them to open the door! Uncle Zhen will surely kill them if something happens to me!" Peng Xinya hissed while she started swaying on her feet before she fell with a loud thud. Her sight was filled with darkness, but on her lips, a triumph smirk bloomed when she heard the sound of a clicking door.
