Chapter 43: Guilt and Regrets

"I like Zion-" 

"See, I tol-" 

Maya held her hand up to stop her sister from continuing. "I am not finished. I like Zion. But not in the way that it is like with Yale." 

"So, you admire him?" Yale asked, hands crossed in front of her. 

For some reason, Yale hates it more when someone admires me than when someone has a crush on me. I don't understand it either and I don't think she does too. 

"No, admire is too strong of a word." The girl said, thinking as hard as she could. "What would the word be? Tolerate? Yeah, I think that's it … I tolerate Zion." 

Mia immediately gasped, looking at us with wide eyes before breaking into a smile. "Congratulations you two!"

"I have no idea if I should be happy about this or not," Yale said, looking from Mia to me as I shrugged, not sure what to feel either. 

Is it really an achievement to be 'tolerated' by someone else? I can't really tell.
