Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Tragedy Unfolds

Before the flames consumed Jill's village, there was a time when life flowed like a gentle river through his world. He had no parents to speak of, their memories shrouded in the mists of time. But what he did have was his younger sister, Elena. She was the light of his life, a beacon of hope in their otherwise tumultuous existence.

Jill and Elena were inseparable, bound not only by blood but by a deep and unwavering love. They had grown up together in the small, close-knit village, where the villagers treated them with care and warmth. Jill was considered a prodigious child, his intelligence and curiosity the source of great pride for the community.

The villagers saw potential in Jill, a glimmer of hope for their village's future. In the Aztec Empire, the age of fifteen was a crucial milestone, a time when children took the mage test, determining their potential to become magicians. It was a test that could shape their destiny, and the people of the village had high hopes for Jill.

But as destiny would have it, the day of the mage test arrived with dark omens in the air. The sun, which had always been a symbol of prosperity for the village, was obscured by heavy, foreboding clouds. Whispers of unease rippled through the crowd that had gathered to witness Jill's test.

Jill, unaware of the ominous signs outside, entered the testing tent, guided by the encouraging smiles of the villagers. They believed in him, and their faith was both a blessing and a burden. As he stood before the mage test, he couldn't help but feel the weight of their expectations pressing down upon him.

Inside the tent, as Jill prepared to undergo the test, a black-robed mage suddenly appeared in the sky. Gasps of astonishment and fear rippled through the crowd outside. A magician who could float in the air was undoubtedly a four-star or even five-star mage—an almost mythical level of power in the Aztec Empire.

The black-robed mage chanted ancient incantations, and mana began to condense around him. Whispers of anticipation filled the air. And then, in a voice that sent shivers down the spines of all who heard it, he uttered the word, "Inferno."

Outside the tent, the villagers watched in horror as flames erupted from the sky and engulfed their beloved village. Chaos ensued as people scattered in all directions, their screams of terror and disbelief mingling with the roar of the inferno.

Inside the consciousness of Jill, the gods of the Aztec pantheon observed his test. Some gods were disgusted, their divine expressions marred with disapproval, while others watched with awe. Some smiled with malice, foreseeing chaos, and some observed with genuine interest.

Most of the gods hesitated, uncertain whether they should bestow their blessings upon this child, whose potential for dark magic was immense. They feared the consequences it might bring to the world. Yet, amidst the divine deliberation, one god stood apart from the rest—Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, who, with a sinister smile, decided to gift Jill his blessing.

As the gods debated, Jill slowly began to return to his senses, only to discover the nightmarish reality outside the tent—a village reduced to ashes, his world destroyed. Dumbfounded and heartbroken, he wondered if he had been teleported to another realm, a place where nightmares came true.

But the truth was far more chilling. The black-robed mage, the harbinger of destruction, stood before him, a malevolent smile on his lips, ready to reveal the cruel fate he had orchestrated.
