Chapter 78: Grasp It And Control It!
Kentaro followed the monkey sage in the kukishoku jungle. Even though the monkey sage was one meter tall, he sure looked powerful.
The monkey sage stopped and turned around to look at Kentaro. His old eyes gazed at the ripped red kimono.
"Take it off, you must be naked for the entirety of the training." Kentaro stood still.
"What are you waiting for!? You must do everything, I, Kaito, the monkey sage tells you to do."
Kentaro took his kimono off, staying naked in the jungle was not a nice feeling.
"Kentaro, the way of the monkey is simple. It is to be one with the nature, the natural energy around you, feel it and grasp it."
"Monkey sage, I can already feel the natural energy. I just can't grasp it."
Kaito rubbed his chin and thought about Kentaro's situation.
"Not only can you feel it, your body absorbs the natural energy. What I can't manage to understand is how you didn't die with the amount of natural energy you have absorbed."
Kaito stayed silent for a couple of seconds and resumed.
"Even though you can feel it, you need to grasp it and control it. For this, you need to become like a monkey! You see this tree, climb it with the power of your hands and feet."
Kentaro approached the tree and hugged it, he was preparing mentally for the challenge ahead.
"What are you doing!? Stop hugging the tree and climb it!" Kaito visibly had a short temper.
Kentaro started climbing, the tree was thirty meters tall. He had only managed to climb two meters of the tree.
He fell down on his butt and stood back up. He couldn't abandon the task ahead, it was the only way to return back to normal.
Kaito was eating bananas while looking at the struggling Kentaro, he pitied the lack of awareness Kentaro had.
"Use the natural energy to make your arms stronger and explosive. I said it once already and I will say it a thousand times if needed. grasp it and control it!"
Kentaro could feel it but couldn't grasp it, he tried to grasp it while climbing. He failed to grasp it after his seventy-five attempts.
'I need to find a way. Meditation seems to be the best choice.' Kentaro sat down in meditation pose.
He took big breaths and tried to grasp the essence of the natural energy present in his body.
'This kid finally understood what he needed to do after seventy-five attempts.' Kaito stopped eating bananas and payed close attention to Kentaro.
With his eyes closed, Kentaro tried his best to grasp the natural energy. He saw thousands of golden strands passing before him.
'I need to control the flow of natural energy in my body.' Kentaro did not give up and stayed in meditation for close to seven hours.
Kaito, the monkey sage, had all the time in the world. He didn't get tired of waiting.
"Oh? It seems that you begin to understand." Kaito saw how hairy Kentaro got. He jumped on the meditating Kentaro and whipped him with his tail.
"Aaaahh! What are you doing, monkey sage!?" Kentaro was rolling on the ground in pain, his back had a red mark.
"Shut up! You understood the essence of it and controlled it, but you were turning into a monkey."
'It's the same thing with Naruto while he was learning the toad sage mode. He would slowly turn into a toad'
Kentaro did not talk further and returned in his meditation pose.
Everytime he was about to turn into a monkey, Kaito whipped him with his tail. Kentaro's body became red from all the tail whipping.
"Little Kentaro, it is time to rest. Sit next to me and eat some of the bananas." Kentaro stood up and sat next to Kaito.
Kentaro took some fruit and bananas who were on a wooden plate. He ate them with great pleasure.
Kaito stood up and climbed up a tree and when he came back he had all sort of bananas
He gave five bananas to Kentaro, each with a different color.
"As my first ever disciple, I gift you those five unique bananas. Every color represents one affinity, if you eat them all, the power of each affinity will multiply by ten. Meaning that every jutsu will become ten times stronger and this, permanently."
Kentaro looked at those five bananas as if they were the greatest treasures he had ever seen.
"Monkey sage, does it mean that even my advanced elements will benefit from the bananas?"
Kaito nodded. Seeing Kaito nod, Kentaro grabbed the red banana and tried to peel it.
"Oh yes, I forgot to tell you that those bananas can only be peeled by someone who has mastered the sage mode."
Kentaro's heart crumbled, he wanted to eat the bananas now but he couldn't.
"Those bananas will be yours once you succeed in the sage training. Now get your ass up and expel the excess of natural energy in your body, find the perfect balance!"
Kentaro returned in meditation pose and tried to expel the excess of natural energy. Sometimes, he would succeed to expel some of the natural energy, turning himself back to his previous self.
But then, he would lose control and the natural energy would turn him back into a beast.
He had also checked the system shop. Apparently, it would not give him the option to achieve the sage mode.
While he was doing all this, golden pigmentation would appear around his eyes, just like Rasa.
It took Kentaro three days to finally expel the excess of natural energy. Our little Kentaro was finally back to his previous appearance.
"Good! Kentaro, now that you have expelled the excess of natural energy, it is time that you learn how to use it!"
Kentaro knew that he was only a few days away from finally achieving the sage mode.
Kaito walked towards the tree and climbed it in a matter of seconds, he addressed Kentaro from the top.
"Little Kentaro, use the natural energy to move like a monkey! Once you can climb this thirty meters tall tree in a total of four seconds, we could say that you have mastered the first step."
"How many steps are th- ?" Kaito didn't let Kentaro finish his sentence.
"Shut up! There could be a thousand steps, who knows? You shouldn't focus on that, the way of the monkey is a long and hardeous way. Only focus on using the natural energy!"
'Monkey sage is right! I must focus!'
Kentaro walked near the tree and prepared to climb it, he controlled the natural energy around him.
'Let's do it.'
