Chapter 46: A Blissful Day

Jian Kang Lu feels sleepy after breakfast and talks to his kitten. So he printed the rules, and asked Bai Yutang to sign it. Each of them have one copy.

1. Bai Yutang didn't need to pay while staying in Jian Kang Lu's apartment.

2. Bai Yutang needs to tell Jian Kang Lu in advance, when and where he wants to go, and will never leave without any words again.

3. Bai Yutang will wash all the dishes.

4. Bai Yutang will do his own laundry, and help to bring Jian Kang Lu's laundry to the laundry place.

5. Jian Kang Lu will give Bai Yutang 5000 yuan per month to handle all the food matters in this apartment. Bai Yutang can't ask for more if the allowances are not enough.

6. Bai Yutang will also cook with those allowances.

7. Bai Yutang will accompany Jian Kang Lu watching movies or shopping.

8. Bai Yutang will accompany Jian Kang Lu to any occasion needed.

9. Bai Yutang will fetch Jian Kang Lu from anywhere and take Jian Kang Lu back home when needed.

Jian Kang Lu happily holds the copy of the agreement between them. Actually he feels guilty, it's like he took advantage of this pure kitten. He was ashamed of his own wickedness. But he's happy, and he tried to bury his guilty feeling.

Now after his stomach and his heart are full, he feels sleepy. So he told Bai Yutang that he wanted to take a nap. And Bai Yutang is free to do anything he wants. He told Bai Yutang that they will go shopping this afternoon. Bai Yutang only nodded his head.

In the afternoon, Jian Kang Lu awakened with a fresh mind. He smiled, and took a bath. He felt like going on a date this afternoon with his kitten. After shower, he saw his brother's call. He called him back.

"Ah Se? I'm sorry I missed your call, I was in the shower before. Is there something wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just worried about you. You suddenly said you need to do something today. Is everything okay?" Actually Jian Kang Se was really worried, but once he heard his brother's voice sounds so happy, he felt at ease.

"Mmm, nothing wrong. I just need to meet a friend of mine this morning. But it settled already. I was tired after that and took a nap, so i can't go there today. I'll call mom later. Tell them not to worry."

Jian Kang Se knew his brother won't explain more, and he also didn't need to know. The important thing was his brother is okay. "Okay Ge, i'll tell mom and dad later. Take care."

Jian Kang Lu then knocked on his kitten's door, and heard his kitten's voice from inside, "Wait a moment, Jian Ge."

Jian Kang Lu saw that messy hair when his kitten's head popped up from behind the door. He really really hates to see that.

"Come, accompany me shopping. Is thirty minutes enough to prepare yourself?"

Bai Yutang hurriedly answered, "Ten minutes is enough, Jian Ge. Wait for a moment."

Jian Kang Lu is waiting in the living room, he turns on the television and watches the news. He smiled happily. After those dark and suffering times he had to go through these past two months, today feels like a dream for him.

Bai Yutang panicked inside. No matter what he wears, he will still look indecent. He cursed his own appearances. He doesn't care when he stays in the hostel. But he feels if he dresses like before, he will only bring shame to Jian Kang Lu. He already shaved before when Jian Kang Lu took a nap. But he still looked... He can't even describe how pathetic he looks right now.

So he finally just dressed as best as he could. If he wears something dark, he will look even more scrawny. So he wears his light blue long sleeve shirt, with dark blue turtle neck inside, and blue jeans for his pants. All his clothes are too big for him now, but nothing he could do. He thinks that maybe he lost 8 or 10 kg in the last three months. He doesn't know for sure.

When they walk in the shopping mall together, Bai Yutang knows people look at them with weird faces. Who the hell is this skinny and unkempt guy beside a dazzling handsome tall man? That's what Bai Yutang thought when he noticed the way people looked at them.

But Jian Kang Lu as usual, didn't notice that. He happily walked around the shopping mall. He told Bai Yutang he wanted to buy some jackets, to prepare for winter. When he tried the jackets, he asked for Bai Yutang's honest opinion.

What can Bai Yutang say except, "It looks good on you, Jian Ge." Because honestly all the jackets Jian Kang Lu tried really looked good at him. His posture made all the jackets look like they popped up from a fashion magazine.

Jian Kang Lu said with a straight face, "You're not honest. How could from these five jackets, everything look good on me?"

The store attendant defended Bai Yutang, "Customer, this young man is not lying. All this jacket really looks good on you. I can't believe even this one will look good on anyone until I see you wear it."

The store attendant really wants to sell these expensive jackets to this good looking man. He already saw several people notice this man and looking for the same jacket he tried. This man was really a good advertisement! Maybe he could break his sales record today.

Bai Yutang nodded with a grateful face to that store attendant.

Jian Kang Lu looks at both of them with a disbelief face. "Then I want you to choose two for me, TangTang."

Bai Yutang is not a fashionable man. He only chose comfortable clothes and as long as it didn't look weird, he didn't care. His fashion sense is not zero, but certainly under everybody else's standard. At least that's what his sister and his friends used to say.

So he was speechless, and tried really hard. He asks Jian Kang Lu to put these five jackets again, and finally picks two from them. One is a navy blue jacket with four pockets in the front, but the pocket is well hidden so the overall look is very clean. There's buttons in each pocket, and also in the sleeves. The collar has a double line, the outside part lining with light brown furs and the inside could buttoned up until the neck.

The other is a dark grey long coat made from cashmere with a simple cut but very luxurious. The long coat has an inner lining that keeps the person who wears it warm. He really likes it.

Jian Kang Lu is satisfied with his kitten's choices, and asks the store attendant to wrap these two at his size. Then he asks whether these two come with different colours. The store attendant skilfully summoned different colours instantly.

Jian Kang Lu chose the first jacket in dark red colour, and the second with turquoise colour. "Please bring these two in his size."

Bai Yutang's eyes widened, "No Jian Ge, i don't need these jackets." He hurriedly said, waving his hand frantically. These cashmere jackets are expensive! He looked at the price tag before. It was 3,000 yuan!!! The other is 1500 yuan. His most expensive jacket is only 1000 yuan.

Jian Kang Lu looked at him with a straight face. "TangTang, do you really want to discuss this again? Here?" Then he continued, "Or you don't want to wear the same model as me?" Jian Kang Lu put a sad and dejected face.

Bai Yutang panicked and said, "No, no no no Jian Ge. It just.." He was speechless to see Jian Kang Lu's dejected and pouting face. Why can't he win a single argument with this man? So he finally just sighed and helplessly said, "Okay, Jian Ge.."

Jian Kang Lu's face instantly brightened. The store attendant who looks at these two incompatible pairs immediately summon three different sizes from nowhere and help Bai Yutang to try them one by one. Bai Yutang settled with bigger size because he strives to gain his weight again.

Jian Kang Lu chose several other clothes for him and his kitten. He happily gave his cards to the store attendant who happily wrapped their purchased items. Bai Yutang insisted on taking the whole six bags by himself and not allowed Jian Kang Lu to take it with him. They finally settled to carry three bags each, but Bai Yutang carried the heavier one.

Next they look at the winter boots, and the same scene above repeated again. Jian Kang Lu bought three pairs for him and settled with two pairs for his kitten. He reluctantly followed his kitten's wish not to buy sneakers for him.

Next Jian Kang Lu brought him to a barbershop. This time, Bai Yutang lowered his head down and didn't say anything. He obediently sat inside and let the hairdresser who saw his hair in horror trying to fix his hair cut.

They put their shopping bags in the car, and Bai Yutang followed Jian Kang Lu to the grocery store. Jian Kang Lu said, "You said you want to use the allowance to cook. I never cook, so i don't know what to buy. So you're free to choose what you need to cook. I won't interfere."

While they're walking inside, Bai Yutang asks what Jian Kang Lu wants to eat. Jian Kang Lu just smiled and said, "Anything you cooked."

That statement is not helpful at all for Bai Yutang, so he just chooses basic ingredients for him to cook. He also can't make anything fancy. Jian Kang Lu reminds him to buy his basic necessity, and reminds him that basic necessity is not food, so it had to be excluded from the allowance.

Bai Yutang now realizes his mistakes. Jian Kang Lu specifically mentioned that the allowance is only for the food ordered INSIDE the apartment or the things he cooked. It won't count for anything else, and definitely also didn't count when they're eating outside.

Bai Yutang had a bad premonition that Jian Kang Lu would ask him to eat outside everyday. He decided to cook everyday to prevent Jian Kang Lu from wasting more money on him. He is pondering by himself, it seems he needs to use his free time to learn cooking when Jian Kang Lu is going to work in the hospital.

But today, definitely he'll lose the first round. Because Jian Kang Lu wants to eat hotpot in their favourite hotpot restaurant. Bai Yutang could only admit his defeat and strive to achieve his target start from tomorrow morning.

Jian Kang Lu enjoys his dinner with a pleasant face, this reminds him of his first date with his kitten. He's so happy today, and decided to call Zhen Guo later at night to say thank you. Without Zhen Guo, he definitely will spend this day in darkness like before.

When they were driving home, Bai Yutang asked him, "Jian Ge, I actually have wanted to ask this since the morning. I'm just curious, how do you know where I lived and showed up today in my hostel?"

Jian Kang Lu smiles at him, "Mmm.. I'll ask you questions first. What kind of job you're doing in the past two months?"

Bai Yutang answered him honestly, and told Jian Kang Lu all the jobs he's taking this past month. It made Jian Kang Lu's heart ached. This precious kitten even does a sketch job only for 50 yuan. Especially when Bai Yutang mentioned he had two clients that requested three times revision and didn't want to pay because they weren't satisfied with the results.

But Bai Yutang told him that his last job is really good even though he still has not received the payment yet. He told him that he learns a lot from this job, all his seniors are good and give him a lot of pointers. He was sure he'll get paid next week, and his professor said that his minimum fee is 2500 yuan.

Jian Kang Lu is glad to hear that his kitten is happy with the last job. Even though Jian Kang Lu didn't like to interfere with someone else's work, he really doesn't want to see his kitten suffer again.

Jian Kang Lu told him, "Do you know who owns the firm that you work for these past two week?"

Bai Yutang confused, "I know it was the firm where my professor belongs, the other is a big firm. But i didn't really ask."

Jian Kang Lu laughs, he really admires his kitten's pristine mind. Luckily his kitten is so pure, he didn't even check who he was working for. He was so glad he found him soon, or else his precious kitten will be swindled around by a bad guy.

"It was Zhen Guo's firm."

Now Bai Yutang turns his head and leaves his mouth hanging wide open. He can't believe it. The next thing that comes to his mind is, 'So it means Zhen Guo also knows about his condition right now?'

Bai Yutang could not help to feel ashamed. He is still not accustomed to this situation. A situation where people had to see him as a pathetic poor man. He tried to brush away this inferior complex he had. There's nothing wrong with working and earning money when you need it. So he tried to grip himself tight.

But he still couldn't help to ask, "But how Zhen Guo knows my address? I don't remember the senior in my group ever mentioning his name?" Actually Bai Yutang could already guess it must be something to do with the call he received on Saturday noon from his senior, asking about an apartment to rent.

Jian Kang Lu answered honestly, "I actually don't know. I just received a call from him yesterday, and told me that you stay in that hostel. That's why I checked that hostel this morning to see whether you really stayed there."

Bai Yutang can't help wondering, he only met Zhen Guo one time but why did Zhen Guo notice him and even look for his address to give to Jian Kang Lu? It's kinda weird. He's just an insignificant one, not special at all. Why does Zhen Guo even pay attention to him?

Bai Yutang knows he can't ask this question, and it doesn't matter. He tried not to think much about that. He just nodded his head and pretended to understand.

They put down all their shopping bags in the living room. They tactfully agreed that it was Bai Yutang's responsibility to take care of the groceries, while Jian Kang Lu just happily looked at his kitten going back and forth changing his empty refrigerator into something more decent.

Jian Kang Lu feels content. He's happy. It's like a dream comes true. To see his kitten stay together with him. He knows that this only will stay for a while. And he will suffer deeply later when his kitten moves out.

But he will enjoy his happiness while it lasts. Cherish what he has for this moment. Gladly welcoming his future days with his kitten. And treasure his time together with his kitten.
