Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Acquaintance Party III

Sophia was escorted by Drake and Alden. Everyone who sees them can't help but gasp. Sophia looks very stunning whilst Drake and Alden are both dashing and tall. The sight of them is enough for one to know the definition of perfect. Drake didn't follow them all the way because Damien signaled him to go with him. Drake is supposed to be the King but he hates getting in contact with random women the most. So Damien can only sacrifice himself.

Alden and Sophia look perfect together. They can be the most perfect couple, a match made in heaven perhaps. They even wear the same cold expression that seemed to be telling everyone to stay away. The moment they arrived Xin hurriedly ran to them and looked at Sophia from head to toe. Sophia just rolled her eyes and seemed to notice a small crown, Xin paired with her dress. Xin, then looked at Alden and her smile grew even brighter. But Alden didn't even look at her and turned his head to look at Sophia. Sophia's shoulders and back are a bit exposed and as much as he admired her looks, he felt rather disturbed. He took off his coat and draped it over Sophia's shoulders. The gold strand that Kylie pinned was actually "King". Sophia was confused but when she saw her expression she kind of understand. Kylie has asked Alden to take care of her since he can be closest to her. Sophia has never minded Alden's strange act and possessive nature but everyone else can see it.

Xin was dumbfounded by Alden's reaction. She always acts nice to everyone to gain favor. But after being defeated by Sophia and losing the chance to become the Grade Level representative, she has seen Sophia as an enemy, her greatest competitor. But even so, she needs to keep up a nice facade to keep her from noticing. She has tried to pull some tricks to defeat Sophia in quizzes, even told her the wrong deadlines but Sophia is rather quick-witted. She never waits for deadlines and doesn't even need to prepare for a quiz. Xin can't believe Alden has seen through her. It even felt like he is telling Xin that Sophia is under his protection. Xin felt her world collapsing. She has liked Alden ever since. But now, a random transfer student has taken away everything she should've had.

Sophia felt like Alden used her to scare away his biggest fan. She felt sorry for Xin, after all, she is being nice to her.

"She's scheming. Don't trust her nice facade." Sophia was taken aback by Alden's words. She has seen Xin as a good friend but his words seemed to make her realize that she was really acting weird since the third day. But, this should be a fun day and Sophia promised Kylie she'll have fun.

When the clock hit 6:00, the King and Queen of each year level is going to be presented and will be sitting in the tables and chairs prepared for them. The set-up was rather lavish, considering that half of the Student Union Officers will be presenting their batch. They will be wearing a mask as they enter and they will be taking it off the very moment they will be introduced. All the Kings and Queens needed to stay in their quarter and only show off when its time. All the other year levels have submitted the names except for Grade Seven. The King's name was submitted but as for the queen it's marked blank. They can't even question the King representative or their advisers. Damien and his queen Dianne represented Grade Eight. She was Damien's friend since their first day. Louis paired up with Alexa to present the Grade Nine, and Rex paired up with Nam for Grade Ten. The chemistry between them is obvious. As for Alden that used Alpha as his alias was called unto the stage. He left the other mask to Sophia as he wear the other one. Drake walk towards Sophia and offered to help her wear the mask. Sophia was rather confused but didn't even mind. After Sophia wore the gold plated mask that features a butterfly design, He has seen Drake wearing a mask too and only thought the officers may be required to wear one.

Sophia tried to squeeze out from the crowd to find a bench she can sit in. But when she was about to get herself out, Alden spoke and made her stop in her tracks.

"Everyone please clear a way for my Luna" The crowd fell silent and started separating. Sophia was taken aback when Alden was looking straight at her with a crazy devious smile. The mask he was wearing is somewhat similar to hers but just way smaller. Then, he took it off and speak once again.

"Sophia Luna, will you be my queen?" Sophia was shocked behind her mask. Then, Drake walk up beside her and offered her a hand. He guided her towards the stairs where Alden is waiting. The scene was recorded by a lot of people. Even Damien was recording his cousin's heartbreak. Nam was in a frenzy. She knew Drake likes Sophia but he is giving her to Alden. When Nam frowned, Rex can't help but ask.

"Are you alright?

"What's going on? Is this also part of the Student Union Act?"

"No. Alden and Drake, like your cousin. Earlier, Alden asked Drake to help her ask Sophia to be his Queen. It seemed like Alden and Sophia were acquainted in the past. If not, Drake wouldn't have agreed. This is also Drake's idea." Nam felt worried for Sophia. This could be too much for her. The girl was as clueless as she can ever be. Based on Sophia's personality, she might transfer to another school or avoid Alden or Drake, or both of them in this life.

When Sophia and Alden are already up the stage. Sophia wrapped her hand around Alden's arm and gave him an annoyed smile.

"Alden Cyrus, Alpha and her Luna, Sophia. The grade seven King and Queen representative. " The crowd grows even louder and wilder after witnessing such out from the fairy tale confession took place before their eyes. Without everyone's knowledge, Sophia has put Alden on his number one blacklist in this life. She couldn't bring herself to blame Drake for this. They took off their mask and sat at their respective table. Nam walked towards Sophia while Rex is following her. Nam hugged and complimented her. Sophia is indeed the fairest of them all.

Alden has never been this nervous in his life. He knew that Sophia was the girl he have met before. When his father had brought him along to meet with his business partner, he has met a girl that night at the balcony. He overheard the conversation between the girl and her godmother. She was told to use Luna as her last name from now on. She just nodded and excused herself for a moment. She stood on the balcony frowning. She is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. When the light from the moon hit her eyes and her black silky long hair, she shone even brighter. He remembered complimenting her but had forgotten to ask her name. The next day, they went back home to Panglao. That was utmost three or four years ago. Then, two months ago, a girl bumped into her. He knew it was indeed her.

Sophia was staring at him coldly and he felt a chill down his spine. He looked at Sophia and whispered.

"Don't worry. Everything's fine."

"It isn't. Why didn't you tell me beforehand" Sophia smiled at him answered him sarcastically.

"I did. Don't you remember? I told you in the future, you will be my queen."

Sophia's heart raced when she heard his words. Somehow, it felt like she indeed heard the phrase before but she can't remember when or where. As she was lost in thought, Alden broke the silence by clearing his throat.

"My condition in becoming the King is this. You even agreed, right? Also, I'm helping you escape the crowd. So, help me this once too. Please just be my queen for tonight"

After hearing his words, Sophia felt relieved but he felt a void was made in her heart. Somehow, her mood was lifted when Alden reminded her of his conditions. They talked about a lot of random things throughout the night. They were also hailed the King and Queen of the night. They have become best friends overnight. But later do they know that something unimaginable is about to happen. Something that will both ruin them and separate them from each other.

If only Sophia remembered him, then the unavoidable tragedy couldn't have happened. Up until the present, she has always blamed herself for being dumb not even remembering such an important person in his life. As much as she does not regret her decision, she can't bring herself to convince that everything happened for a reason.
