Chapter 5: CHAPTER 5 "OAKENWOOD FOREST"
A skill level is divided into 5 main ranks:
BASIC RANK
RARE RANK
UNIQUE RANK
HEROIC RANK
MYTHICAL RANK
These ranks doesn`t simply show the strength of a skill but it also shows the difficulty of acquiring such skill but a skill`s true power utterly depends on its user as these skills mostly acts as a buff or guide on its user, an example of this is the skill "Trained sword strike". A person may have held a sword for the first time and his moves would be shabby and unbalanced but when the user activates this skill his next strike would be the same as a trained knight who`ve held a sword for at least 20 years despite only holding the sword for a couple of minutes but after the duration of the skill he would return to his original form. in simpler terms the skills that one receives doesn`t entirely show how strong the owner of the skill is, in my case that harsh reality hit me harder by giving me a mythical rank skill but made it useless.
Skills can also be learned from experiences which means apart from 'the gift' you can also gain skill in the future but because of this damned a skill... No, this damned curse that I`ve got i cant even get a proper skill apart from basic level ones.
I let out a deep sigh as I stared outside the window of the moving carriage.
"It`s alright son maybe a short stroll outside the Manor is all you need, the 'gift' you received might not be good but you`ll learn many skills in the future so don`t worry too much" a heart-warming consolation from my mother as she looked at her son`s disappointed face.
'Maybe she`s right these skills are simply guidelines anyways, I can still be an Archmage if I learn magic enough or be a Knight commander if I train the sword for years' I thought to myself as an uneventful ride continued.
"This place should be good enough" my father spoke as a handful of maids laid a checkered cloth on the grassy ground and presented an array of food suited for a picnic.
"Finally a place where we can relax, after all the things we had to manage around the estate it`s nice to have time together" my mother spoke "I can agree, the wind sure is nice today as well I should take a nap" my father added as he laid down the cloth.
The place where we settled on is on top of a hill with a lone tree giving shade to our picnic spot with the view of the "Oakenwood Forest" also known as "The Great Forest" as it stretches to over a fifth of the continent a few meters away from the line of trees that signals the beginning of the forest and not far from those line of trees is a small lake who caught my curiosity.
"Mom, can I walk around a little bit I don`t feel like eating yet" a blatant lie in order to head to the lake.
"Sure but don`t go too far you might get lost" her approval as she took up a cup of tea.
I headed towards the direction of the lake entering the forest in the process, I continued walking until I saw the lake, the water was as clear as glass but such clear water wasn`t the reason I decided to walk towards this lake, the main reason is after I received the 'gift' I slowly started noticing the mana in the surroundings as it looked like a light bluish hue around us, though it had no scent and it made no sound you can still see and feel it`s presence and this lake has a dense concentration of mana.
Mana and skills are very different but they are connected, mana is present all around this world and it represents the life of everything it surrounds meanwhile skills are the power that a living being achieves throughout his lifetime though there are skills that require mana to function they are still different, therefore one can use magic even if he or she has terrible skills.
Anyhow, this lake shows a great opportunity for me. Why is that? you might ask but the answer is simple! After reading multiple cultivation stories these place are always the best areas to cultivate! Even if it doesn`t work it`s still worth to try right?
