Chapter 12: The Fate and the Purgatory
Learning magic now has become Mikasa's dilemma. Usually a library is a good way to learn magic but in this world, it doesn't have that. Although Akashi knew magic of the High Elves, it wasn't compatible to learn it. Her only course of action was to learn by herself, which was difficult, or to have a teacher. Apparently her new "brother" is a human wizard who far outranks her in magic. But for now she was too shy to interact with him and was still trying to come into terms of this new family she has.
The two other elves also knew what was troubling Mikasa and thus did not open it up. All they could do was hope her new brother was magnanimous enough to teach her.
After a few more hours of bantering and talking, they decided to sleep.
///In a giant crystal hall///
A giant table which seated different beings exuding immense power were seating silently. Each being was looking at every person on the table, seemingly to talk using their minds. Finally a tall gigantic man wearing a golden armor with a lion's face arrives. He sat at the top seat at the very front. His golden eyes gaze over everyone as everyone nervously looks back. Many of them gulping as if whatever he said would be world-shattering.
"I have convened with the Primordial Ones along with the Dark Gods. The eleventh Purgatory shall begin in one year. You are all to not directly intervene but only give them the power to protect themselves." The man said. Many sighed while a few were ashen. The very word "Purgatory" was something they all feared.
The purpose of a Purgatory was to ensure the balance of life energy in each dimension. One must know that for every purgatory many worlds are lost and left ruined. Mass extinction occurs to the point that sometimes, a world would never recover. To balance this out, the Primordial Ones creates new life. Sprouting from ruinous worlds, new life blooms giving once dead worlds, a chance to see life. On the other hand, it is also a method to keep the Dark Gods and their followers in check. Allowing them to rampage while also culling their numbers keeps them in place. This also comes to say that the Purgatory was a way for the Dark Gods to vent out their frustrations from their "cyclic" fate.
The Purgatory occurs every 10,000 to 100,000 years, depending on how much life energy has accumulated. A war, of 100 years will occur on every known world with life. Even those that has just started to bloom with life are involved. A hundred years may seem small compared to 10,000 or 100,000 years but within those seven purgatories of the past, one could see the amount of destruction this hundred years can bring. An average of 7,000 worlds would be deemed extinguished of life while 11,000 worlds would be ruined. Of these 11,000 worlds, many would become inhospitable to its original inhabitants becoming home to ruinous powers of the Dark Gods.
This has to say though that the Righteous Gods do not gain anything. The war also reclaims many worlds. The average was around 5,000 to 6,000 worlds with some peaking at a 14,000 worlds and with a lowest of 1,500 worlds. This all depends on the creatures of that era if they could withstand the invasions of the Dark Gods and how many of them are strong enough to retaliate and push back.

Everyone sat in silence still absorbing the current scenario. A young man raised his hand as everyone looked at him. "Does the Primordial Ones know the time to raise our champions was too short?" The gigantic man nodded. Seemingly to understand something from this answer, he nodded back, stood up and left. Many of the wiser ones also seem to understood and stood. They bowed to the gigantic man and left. The other ones, just seemingly to follow the people who left, also bowed and left.
The only ones left would be the gigantic man, a woman clad in a silver armor with a lioness face, a short man with a staff wearing a brown tunic, another gigantic burly man top naked with a black bear head cover and an elf with golden hair wearing a green light armor.
"This purgatory seems to be different from the other seven. I hope the lower planes would survive." the gigantic man sighed.
"Well, this was the first time the purgatory has been delayed for 300,000 years. One could say those Dark Gods are itching to fight." said the woman in silver armor.
"Let them come! This time I'll make sure my champion tramples all of them HAHAHAHA." The burly man's laugh reverbed throughout the room.
The short man bowed and said, "Hehehe. This time luckily your Majesty had a premonition that it would come to this and has alarmed the members of your faction to groom champions within the past 100 years. I hope the ot-". The gigantic man interrupts the short man.
"This concerns the entirety of the 144 Dimensions. In fact if it weren't for those rebellious and dangerous ideologies, I would have shared this premonition." He once again sighed.
"I hope during this round of Purgatory, not only do more world survive and get reclaimed but us Righteous Gods would get more united." The gigantic man looked afar. The woman in silver armor hugs him on the side and also looks afar. The elf, who has been silent so far smiled lightly as he bowed and left unnoticed by everyone except the short man.
"Ehh? Where did-". The burly man said.
"He left. You! When will you... You are really hopeless you know that. All you think about is smashing and trampling." interjected the short man.
The burly man scratched his head. The gigantic man and the woman laughed.
"Uhmm anyways Your Majesty. Shall we beat our record last year! HAHAHAHA." the burly man once again laughs. The short man sighs while the woman and the gigantic man laughs..
"Yes! For the sake of the future." the gigantic man replies.
