Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Doctor?

Wan arrived at the back of a seemingly provincial village back on earth.

Wan heard sounds of busy people working left and right.

"Thank goodness they are humans, but it seems that there is a language barrier.

So how do I do this?"

Wan inspected the whole village for some time using his binoculars.

Wan Concluded that they were not cannibals or some religious cult that kills outsiders because he saw some vendors that are dressed relatively better, go in and out of the village without any hindrances.

Wan coindentally saw a man wearing a robe having resemblance to one of costumes he brought with him.

"Bingo"

Wan took out a costume from his inventory.

According to his plan, being a merchant would be the best thing to do for information gathering so wan brought a couple of things that would be in demand anywhere there are humans, such as condiments. He also brought all kinds of things that people want specially what women want.

Since he was in a backward period where technology is not yet developed. The possibility of a monarchy government system is likely.

Nobilities and knights likely exist.

Nobles love accessories and rare gemstones for kings and queens.

He also brought some accesories also just in case.

Wan took his first step to the village wearing a white robe costume with his white hood on.

He was carrying a bag full of things with a carpet folded in his arms, after all he didn't know if the inventory system that he have is common here.

"White is so conspicuous, people would easily notice me."

as he thought, wan attracted considerable attention.

"Maybe this is for the better. Merchants need fame too."

As he walked through the village, some people began to give way to him and gave him a 45 degree bow while he was passing.

As he walked through the middle of the road, a child stumbled in front of him, the child scraped his knee and was about to cry but the child surprisingly held it in and gave Wan a bow.

The child went to his mother on the other side of the road with a worried expression on her face.

The mother was about to bow intensely when wan walked up to her.

The mother was shaking and unable to talk. The surrounding village people tensed up with worry and anxiousness evident right up in their faces. Everything was silent until Wan held the mother and prevented her from bowing.

Wan carried the mother slightly to the side and carefully inspected the child.

Wan crouched down and took out a towel and a bottle of water from his bag.

He quickly washed the scraped knee and elbow and wiped it with a towel.

The child remained unmoving till wan looked him in the eye.

"This will sting slightly so don't shout"

Then wan sprayed alcohol to the wounds.

The child flinched that he almost jumped from sudden pain but he held it in again and did not make any noise. The pain in his face can be clearly seen.

The sorrounding people gaped at the sight and thought that the child was being punished until wan took out a band aid and covered the wounds of the child.

Wan then stood up, reached to his pockets and gave the child a candy.

wan knew that the child didn't understand his intentions so he made an action of putting something into his mouth.

The child was smart and quickly opened his mouth, however wan again made a gesture of sticking out his tounge and putting that something in.

This time, the mother reacted and told something to the child, the child then understood and sticked out his tounge.

Wan then unwrapped the candy and gave it to the child. He kept the wrapper as an instinct of not throwing trash anywhere.

The child's expression visibly lightened as he savoured the candy on his mouth. The villagers also saw this and they immediately expressed their thanks through courteous bows.

Wan waved off his hands as a sign of 'do not mind it' and went off his way to the nearest open place to set up his mat there.

--

Childs perspective.

Jo was on his way to their house after playing with his friends on the forest river. As he was rushing, he didn't notice a rubble on the road and tripped, scraping his knees and elbow.

As he was about to cry and plead for his mother, he saw a man wearing white robes with a piece of expensive cloth in his hands.

He suddenly remembered what his mother told her.

""Do not ever bother nobles and rich people or else you'll suffer. At worst even our whole family or our village will be in trouble."""

He had once saw a child about his age being whipped because of him annoying a certain rich kid that visited their village for the sake of their special arrows being a village specialty.

Therefore, He held everything in and and bowed to the noble, walked to his mother and bowed again.

Surprisingly, as his mother was about beg for forgiveness, the man held her mother, placed her aside and then inspected him.

He nervously stood up straight not daring to look on the eyes of the noble and even held his breathing. Afraid to offend him of his bad breath or whatsoever.

The noble then began to throw water at his wounds.

"He is washing my wounds? So he is a doctor noble?"

As he was thinking, the noble sprayed something that made him almost jump out of pain.

"Ow PAIN!!!, as ! thought, he was just punishing me, he actually sprayed salt on my wounds. Now it hurts so mu--? Wait there's no pain anymore?"

The noble then began covering his wounds with a weird small strip of cloth that instantly stuck to his skin.

When the noble gestured him to open his mouth, he immediately guessed that it was medicine.

"So he was a noble doctor, a kind one. So it is true not all nobles are bad, just a majority of them are so. I'm lucky this time."

As he was thinking, his mother told him not to swallow the medicine but just let it stay in his mouth.

"So thats why he sticked out his tounge, so it must be to dissolve the medicine using my tounge and not swallow it. Mom's a genius to understand the doctors weird gestures."

As he swallowed the medicine.

"Sweet! Is this made of sugar? I can feel my energy back already"

-

Truthfully, what Wan fed him was only candy. The child only might have only exaggerated due to a placebo effect.

Because he was a child, he somehow believed that the kind noble doctor gave him an elixir that replenishes his strength. Seeing the child, the villagers immediately believed that the candy was not just an ordinary medicine.

"Look, he placed that expensive looking cloth on the ground. What is he trying to do?"

A villager noticed wan setting up his shop.

"He is placing the elixirs on it. Three of them!"

--

--

--

On his makeshift mat shop. Wan carefully arranged his products one by one.

Since they couldn't understand each other, wan only released 3 pieces of candy from his pocket.

He then waved his hands on the villagers looking at him.

He repeated the gesture of "come here" quite a few times but nobody dared to move closer to him.

"Maybe there's another way of telling them to come here."

Wan tried several gestures but nobody came to understand him.

By the time he tried the gesture of folding four of his fingers other than the thumb, looking like he was grabbing onto something invisible, the mother of the child who slipped earlier came to him.
