Chapter 2: Chaper 2 - Wounds

"So our tracker has been killed?" Knight Commander Andrews asked. "Yes, my lord." answered his subordinate. "We are unsure of how he died. He fell to his knees and then his head exploded." "Has anyone seen the body?" Commander Andrews asked. "Nobody except the ones who are at the site." "Bring me there!" Commander Andrews demanded.

The Commander walked across the clearing to the body of the deceased tracker. "Nobody should have been able to do something like this, at least nobody here!" he thought. He looked closer and saw the wound in the man's leg. "What could have done something like this? I see no arrows and detect no trace of magic." he thought as he bent down and inspected the wound even closer. "There is something inside the hole." he thought as he pulled a dagger from his belt and began to dig into the wound. Inside he found a mushroom'd piece of lead. "What is this?!" he thought to himself as he rolled the jagged piece of metal between his fingertips. He then spotted the item the man was holding. "What is this? A piece of green and brown cloth? This must have been what he was using to track his target." He thought to himself. He left the cloth where it was and began to walk in the direction the tracker was traveling. when he reached the scorched area the trackers fireball had landed he spotted what appeared to be blood. "So the target is wounded then. We may get some answers yet." he thought was he walked toward his men. "Our prey is in that direction men! Take him by any means but do not kill him. Bring him to me." upon saying that, half a dozen men took off in the direction of the target. "Also, bring me the slave who was holding this before our tracker. I need to know about the vermin who took out our man."

Jason continued toward camp leaving a trail of blood behind. As he kept going he grew more and more light headed. "Shit, I gotta do something about this!" He thought to himself as he slowed to a stop and dropped his gear. "I am sure I have something in this damn bag." He thought to himself as his tore through his go bag looking for something to stop the bleeding. "Finally! I found it!" he thought to himself as he pulled out a tourniquet and quickly applied it above his wound.  "This should stop the bleeding long enough until I get away from these god damn larpers!" he thought as he zipped his bag and continued on. "Camp shouldn't be too much further away. When I get there I don't give a damn, I will get in my Jeep and run those fuckers over if I have to! I'm going home!" he thought as he limped on toward camp. He continued until he reached what should have been camp and stopped, mouth agape. The mountain was gone. In it's place was a vast field with what appeared to be  a castle in the distance. "Where the hell am I?" he thought to himself.

"All he knew was the man couldn't speak our language." the interrogator said to Commander Andrews. "Was there anything else?" the Commander asked. "Well he did tell me that he was wearing funny clothing. But that was before I pulled out his tongue." He said as he looked over the corpse of the slave. "You couldn't get anything else out of him before you killed him? Are you serious? I should kill you!" The Commander shouted. "I truly am sorry my lord. That is all I could get from this worthless slave." The interrogator said as he bowed his head. "Fine, get out of my sight." Commander Andrews sighed with a wave of his hand.  "So a strangely dressed man that spoke a different tongue than us took out a tracker using metal, rocks. This just keeps getting more and more interesting." He thought to himself as he walked out of the torture chamber.

Jason looked across the plain dumbfounded. "How the FUCK did I get here?!" he thought out loud as he continued to scan the area. He turned around to retrace his steps only to find the sound of movement behind him. "IF DBNF UIJT XBZ!" one voice shouted. "IF DPVMEO'U IBWF NBEF JU GBS!" another yelled. Jason immediately dropped to the ground to find come cover. He hid in a group of bushes behind some rocks and waited for them to pass. "EP ZPV TFF IJN?!" a voice called out. "Op, if nvtu ibwf xfou bopuifs xbz. Mfut hp!" a second voice responded. Jason waited for what seemed a lifetime for the men to leave, but they finally did. He waited till nightfall before moving out. Under the cover of night he began to walk slowly across the plain, attempting to make some distance between himself and his pursuers. He walked for several hours until just before the sun began to peek above the horizon. He looked around to try to find somewhere to sleep but, unfortunately there was nothing but grassland as far as the eye could see. "Well, I guess here is as good a place as any to rest." he thought as he dug through his bag and found his poncho. "It is not a blanket, but it will keep me dry at least." He said as he laid it down like a blanket. He poured his bag out on the poncho. He had  5 bottles of water, a solar charger, a raido, a med kit, his 45, 50 rounds of ammo for both his rifle and pistol, a med kit, 1 MRE, a folding shovel, some rope, a D ring, a flint, a pack of water purifying tablets, and a change of clothes. "Well, I guess I know the first thing I need to do now I found a safe place." He thought as he pulled out a compression dressing from his pack. He reached in his pocket and grabbed his knife thinking, "This is going to hurt like a bitch." He took the knife and began to dig out pieces of wood and rock that had embedded itself in his leg. He poured half of a water bottle on his leg and drank the other half. When he was done he applied the pressure dressing and removed the tourniquet. "I wish I could eat something, but this damn thing has too much salt in it. I need to find a source of water or I'm screwed." he thought as he put everything back in his pack. He rolled himself in his poncho and quickly fell asleep.
