Chapter 2: A Demon for a Slave

Azrael slowly stood up. He spat blood in the process. The pain he was feeling now was beyond what a normal being could endure.

"Child, thank you for killing him for me. Just as I promise, what do you desire?" Azrael smiled sincerely although his blazing red eyes were horrifying to look at.

'What I desire?' Liam thought to himself.

"You said earlier that you'll grant anything right?" Liam instantly forgot that he just killed an angel after hearing the demon.

Earlier he can't say that he wasn't tempted by the offer earlier. It's just that Liam was not inherently selfish. Sisyphus, the angel whom he killed, even said that the world might end because of his death.

But now, since the deed was done he has no choice but to accept reality. At the least, he will still get something in return.

"Yes. Everything." The demon confirmed.

"Are you sure?" Liam asked once more.

"Yes, child. Everything."

"Are you really really sure?"

Azrael started getting impatient. "Yes!"

"My soul is the price, right?"

"Yes human. Your soul is the pri-" The demon stopped.

"F*ck you! I knew it. You assh*le!" Liam complained and continued cursing Azrael.

He wasn't an idiot. He watched countless anime and movies, read a lot of novels with similar troupes. How could he fall for this simple trick?

Azrael was ashen. He couldn't believe a human tricked him.

Indeed it was true. Granting a wish cost the soul of the one who wished itself. Which in turn makes the demon more powerful. And the human who sold his soul will turn into a lesser demon in hell after death. He would vanish himself from the wheel of samsara and will be a lesser demon forever.

In the course of human history. Billions of people have already sold their souls to the devil. And this has upset the balance of angels and demons resulting in an infinite holy war since then.

"Listen, child, as long as I don't die your soul will be in my possession. And you'll get what you wished until your last breath." Azrael persuaded Liam.

It's been too long since he talked to a human. Hundred of years to be exact.

Summoning a demon will depend on the willpower of the summoner, how strong the desire, and samsara points a human possessed.

Samsara points were points that a single soul has accumulated over time. If they were famous or contributed a lot to the world in their past lives, then their samsara points will be larger as well.

And only one human has summoned the Archdemon Azrael Morningstar, youngest son of Lucifer himself. And now a soul has presented itself in front of him.

Liam thought about it. He knows Azrael still kept some secrets but he thought of a great idea. But first, he needed to confirm it. He couldn't help but snicker.

"Fine, fine. But first, can I ask a question?"

"Sure. Keep it short, child." Azrael put his guard up. He must not get tricked once more.

"Can I wish to make the president of the United States follow all my orders and only listen to me?" Liam asked innocently.

Azrael thought for a while. Is there a meaning behind his words? He shook his head and dismiss the thought. What could a 17-year-old boy do to tricked a thousand-year-old being? Earlier was just a fluke, a slipped of a tongue.

"Yes, I can grant you that. Is that your wish?"

"Great! But that's not what I desire." Liam innocently said.

"Interesting. Then what do you desire?" Azrael was also pretty curious about what this little boy might wish.

"It's pretty simple. But don't get mad at me, ok? You might not like it." Liam sincerely reminded him.

Azrael laughed. "I'm an Archdemon. The symbol of madness and evil itself. There's nothing in this world that I hate except God and his slaves, the angels."

Liam sighed in relief. "That's reassuring. Ok, ok, here's my wish."

Azrael smiled and linked his heart to Liam's soul. After Liam declared his wish, it will be granted immediately.

Liam felt chains locking up his insides. This was uncomfortable but he felt that this was Azrael's signal for him to wish.

"I want you, Azrael Morningstar, to follow all my orders forever." Liam grin wickedly.

Azrael's smile vanished. It was replaced by a twisted face and he immediately charged at Liam, but his speed and power were greatly reduced because of the damage he accumulated.

Liam easily dodged his attacks and spoke once more.

"Azrael, I order you to kneel before me." Liam laughed.

"You dare human?!"

He refused to bow in front of a human. He would rather be dead rather than following this son of an arse. Thinking about how Sisyphus was killed, he couldn't help but felt jealous of him.

"I said bow!" Liam shouted.

Azrael's body started moving on its own and because he already linked his heart to Liam's soul, not fulfilling his wish was equal to breaching a contract. And that means punishment. Azrael's heart beat rapidly and a zap of lightning electrocuted his body. If he didn't follow Liam's order then his soul will be extinguished.

Azrael prepared his mind. He was willing to die.

'Forgive me, father and mother. Forgive me, sister. But today will be the day I'll die. I'm sorry, I'll rather die than be a slave to a mere human.'

Azrael's body started burning. He started convulsing and bleeding everywhere.

'This motherf*cker is more stubborn than I thought. Well, I understand his pride.'

"Hey, d*ckhead. You'll only serve me for 70 years at most. I might die at that age. Or I might die much earlier than that. Believe me, I won't treat you like a dog or some sh*t. You can commit suicide if I really did order you to eat dog poo, which I won't. Probably." Liam consoled him.

Azrael almost spat blood. Probably? Are you f*cking kidding me?!

"Oh, dear. I bet 70 years is only a fraction of a second to you considering the fact that you live for eternity. You might even be thousands of years old or something. Plus, my soul is in your hand. You can do everything you want to me after I die. Your life is not worth my life. Come, I'll just commit some interesting things before I turn old."

Azrael finally realized. 'That's right. My life is not worth this worm's life. It's only 70 years. After that, I can torture him for eternity for what he's done. You'll be my plaything until you beg for forgiveness.' Azrael's filthy heart finally blazed once more. His red eyes showed courage and vengeance and finally kneeled in front of Liam. Although a bit grumpy.

'What a tsundere.' Liam laughed inwardly. 'Now this confirms three things. The first is that this old man lives for thousands of years. Second is that he possessed a lot of knowledge. The fact that he's a supernatural being and the fact that he is ancient and probably knows more than any other human. Third is that he'll probably torture my soul after my death judging from the way this old man looks at me.'

"Wonderful. Now that's the spirit. Oh, by the way, you probably killed thousands of people. How can you get away with it?" Liam was also quite curious about this.

"This is merely another reality existing in your reality. There was no human harmed in the battle. That was the only condition in this holy war. Angels and Demons are prohibited from hurting and killing humans."

Liam pieced out the information and added it to his knowledge.

'Interesting. Holy war? Now life is finally more exciting!'

"How can we exit this reality?" Liam asked.

"You don't know?" Azrael was flabbergasted.

"Of course not. That's impossible." Liam crossed his arms.

"Then how did you entered this reality then? And how can you see us?" Azrael didn't believe what this boy was saying.

"Dunno. Dunno."

Azrael stared blankly at him.

"Fine then. Let's get out of here and go to the real reality." Azrael proposed.

"Hmm. Then how would you hide yourself amid all human beings?" Liam questioned.

"Don't worry brat. No human can see spirits, holy and demonic beings. You're only special." Azrael confirmed.

"Understood. Well then, let's go. I also want to experience flying."

Liam expected to be carried on Azrael's back. So he eagerly jumped behind the demon. He was surprised that Azrael was pretty well built. His back was rock solid. He curiously touched his wings and it felt soft. Contradicting to its ink-black color.

"What the f*ck, child?" Azrael was furious and shook his body. In which, Liam fell off.

"Eh?" Liam blinked.

Azrael didn't reply and muttered some strange words. After a while, a strange black fog covered Liam out of nowhere.

"Hold tight. Here we go."

Azrael flapped his wings and ascended. Liam, who was surrounded by the black smoke floated beside him.

Just as they were about to reach a thousand feet in the sky, they break the fake reality and finally appeared in the airspace of the real reality.

Liam saw ant-like humans walking in the streets. The car, buildings, and structures look small in this view. He couldn't help but smile. This experience was unique and amazing.

'So this is how God and the Angels look at us'

Liam already accepted the fact that God and Satan exist just from the fact that he saw an Angel and a Demon.

"Let's go to my house," Liam ordered. He pointed directions until they finally landed in front of Liam's house.

On the way, Liam made Azrael do a simple spell. He asked the demon if he could do such a thing and Azrael denied it at first but he only said 8 words and Azrael easily spilled the truth.

"I order you to tell me the truth."

Demons do possess superhuman abilities and magic. But Azrael didn't explain his powers more thoroughly.

He then ordered Azrael to cast an invisible spell for him. This way, no one would look at the sky and scream, "A boy is falling in the sky!"
