Chapter 4: Walking Down the Hallways
The first few weeks of school came by smoothly.
It is now currently lunch time and I am looking for Ms. Bai Qi. I did not turn in my algebra homework because I left it at home the other day. Going into the classroom hoping she is there, I saw nobody except Fu Zhang.
"How come you're here?" I asked.
"I gotta get my backpack for lunch money." He replies back. "What're you here for?"
"Trying to find Ms. Bai Qi to turn in homework." Looking around to confirm again, I turned around to walk away. Fu Zhang called out to wait on him and I did. He said he will walk me to her office. While walking down the hallways, we talked about how easy the recent algebra test was for him and how easy the essay on how our life experiences change us was for me. Looking up to his face as he talks made me realize how much he has grown. His hair has gotten a bit long and messy. His jawline more defined. When we were in middle school, I would be about an inch taller than him but now he is over 2 inches taller than me.
Once we reached, he waved goodbye and walked away. I stared at his back for a while. Smiled. Then I went inside the office.
