Chapter 2: 2 - A human?
I follow the group slowly and quietly from behind. I'm not sure what the situation on this world is, so i didn't want to get involved just yet. After about 30 minutes of marching i could hear and smell another creature in the distance, this time i recognized the smell as human. Even traveling to so many planets, humans seemed to exist on almost every single one of them, then again, the worlds i get transported too are determined by summoning, usually done by a human, or sponsor, perhaps my sponsors just like the humans?
After a few more minutes the group of green creatures finally noticed the human and began rushing towards them. The human wore dark blue purple fabric that had a hood covering their face, the arms of the shirt were lined with what looked like scale armor and a sword sat at their waist. As the green creatures rushed within ranged the human drew it's sword and began to slice through the hoard. The human had started out strong killing the first five with ease but as the group swarmed around the little human the fight became harder, and the death of the green creatures became slower. The human was getting overwhelmed but still fought fiercely killing another five in the next few minutes.
The green creatures weren't dissuaded but rather became stronger fueled by their anger. The human was getting noticeably tired and the fabric was torn in certain places, the hood had also fallen backwards to show short black hair, yellow eyes and white skin, the facial features were soft. I watched from the side still not sure what to do. On one hand, perhaps i should link with the human, their growth potential was never something to look down on and the buildings from before seemed somewhat advanced so the chances that their society was also advanced was high. However, on planets with multiple intelligent races, humans were often the main war starters. But if i link with these green creatures, i wasn't sure what the potential outcome would be. Add that to them seemingly being pretty primitive and already having issues with another race, their candidate status was dwindling.
By this point the human was panting and covered in wounds, the smell of blood enticing me out of my hiding spot. But i waited still, only three green creatures remained. Deciding i would rather link with the race i was familiar with, i planned to help the human if it looked like he couldn't handle the remaining green creatures.
The fight with the last few creatures was an intense struggle, the little green creatures were not very mobile compared to the human, but it looked like their strength and stamina surpassed him by quite a bit. After a few more minutes the human finally cut down the last of the goblin-like creatures. I smirked as he plopped down onto the ground completely worn out.
"Are you okay?" I call out from my hiding spot. I didn't want to reveal my appearance right away since i wasn't sure if i'd be mistaken for a monster. The human jumped to his feet surprised
"Who are you?" He demanded lifting his sword defensively.
"Hey, you can calm down, i'm not going to attack you" i say half laughing "I'm a traveler" I say to answer his question.
"A traveler? What the hell are you saying" He scoffs not convinced.
"I mean it. I really am a traveler" I say
"Stop bullshiting me. Why would a traveler ever be in a dungeon?" He replies still not convinced
'Dungeon?' i wonder 'like a video game dungeon?'.
"Show yourself" he demands.
"ah...that...well, I look a bit different to you, i don't want to frighten you" I say. Just as i finish my sentence a warning notification pops up along with a wave of dizziness causing me to stumble a bit.
'WARNING FULLNESS STATUS IS AT 3. PLEASE FIND FOOD'
The human turned to my direction having heard the foliage disturbance as i stumbled.
"Come out now, or i'll go over there" He demands. I was silent for a minute.
"...alright" I say moving forwards slowly
"Hands first! come out with your hands forward!" he demands.
'he's not even my master yet and listen to how he's ordering me around already' i scoff mentally amused.
I move forward exposing my hands and very menacing claws first. I saw him tense but i continued slowly until i was fully visible.
"Wh-what sort of monster are you?" He asked tensed and ready to attack at any moment.
"Usually i'm called a 'demon' or 'vampire'" I reply still holding my hands in front of me. Since he hadn't attacked right away i was confident we could talk it out.
"Were you watching me this whole time?" he asked still not relaxing at all, 'good, yes, ask questions, i like that he's communicating before attacking' i approve mentally
"I was following the-" another wave of dizziness blurred my vision causing me to lose my balance and fall backwards onto my butt cutting off my sentence. I press my hand against my head and try to steady my spinning vision, my stomach rumbled loudly protesting the lack of nutrition. "Ah...I was following the green creatures to see what was going on" i say finally gesturing towards the corpses. The human had a confused expression on his face.
"I was going to help if you needed it" I added not bothering to stand. After a few seconds of silence passed the human lowered his sword slowly.
"Those are Orcs...You said you were a traveler?" He asked
"Yeah" my vision began to swim again so i closed my eyes for a minute and shook my head slightly "Listen, i'll answer any questions you have but i'm in a bit of a situation right now". There were a few seconds of silence
"Okay, i'm listening" he finally says seeming to relax ever so slightly.
"Right now...i'm starving. I need some blood"
