Chapter 2: The True Vampire Bride Prologue Part 2

The two looked as pale as death. It was rather odd that there would be something up here that has scared them badly. I cannot help but wonder what the news could be to scare these seasoned scouts so badly. It was an odd thing to say the least. As far as I am aware of, there has never been anything in our surrounding woods that would cause anyone harm. But I suppose there is always a first time for anything. After all, I have never gone past certain marked areas that have been roamed by our people for generations. The next morning the chief called an immediate village meeting to discuss what is to be done about the urgent situation. The whole village has gathered that can afford to help right away. We sit in minor horror finding out some of the details as the scouts spoke. Apparently, some of the lessor vampires have been scouring for anything or anyone and came upon one of the farmers on the outskirts of the village. They drained him completely dry. Fear of the same happening, all the villagers are now on a chief ordered rotation to watch the town outskirts. All those trained in any fighting have been pulled, including me. I am currently patrolling with my friend Kaido, when we spot a group of distinguished looking people, far too out of place for this type of area, not knowing at that time they were the pure bloods. We nodded to each other and carefully took up positions that are closer to see the possible enemy. After confirming the count and what appeared to be the leaders of the group, we then took assessment of how many tag-a-longs they had. Basically, noting that there was far more than we could actually give a number to, we prepared to leave. Being careful not to be seen, we headed back to the village chief with our immediate report.

The village chief dropped his head fearing the worst and told all of us to prepare to evacuate if necessary. He then assigned me and my friend Kaido to take one additional person in case they came close to the huge outer gate that has basically been our protection, to speak to them as representatives if they came close enough. That gate, though well maintained, was no match for the number of people following behind the leaders we had seen. All any of us could do was pray that they kept their distance, but I feared that might be too much to ask in the long run. We are a small community, we do not have anything worth taking, nor do we wish to fight with anyone who would come calling. But this is how things were to possibly play out, either way, there would not be much we could do to defend ourselves if they chose to fight us for any reason.

As we all feared the worst possible outcome began to unfold before us all, about a day's time passed and the newfound outsiders had finally ridden up to the gate of the outer bridge. Looking at each other with a large amount of worry in our eyes, we sat for a few moments trying to decide who was going to speak to them. I mean, no one has ever come here before, so we were not sure how to handle the situation. We discussed this while sitting on the bottom steps of the walkway area. Unfortunately, my two companions decided that I was the chosen one to speak with them. I gave a large sigh as I gave my two friends a scowling look before I turned to walk up the stairs. Walking back up the stairs, I took in a few deep breaths to try and calm my nerves. From atop of the gate walkway, I slowly made my way to the edge of the fence line. Cautiously, I walked to the edge of the fence as I looked over it. Staring down at the party from atop the fence line, my nerves were on edge just looking at the sheer number of them. I then calmly voiced myself to what appeared to be the leaders of the party below.

Kaida Endo: "Hello to you all down there. My name is Kaida Endo; I have been sent here as a representative of our village. May I know who the main leader of your group is? And how it is you found our mountain pass."

With an overly puzzled look, the man on the farthest forward horse dismounts as a sign of respect, all I could do was hope so anyway. All I could think to myself was, "I hope him dismounting is a sign of respect, other words, I would not know how to take it." He then began moving closer to the gate, he begins to speak in an eerily calm tone. For some reason, it unnerved me some, I could not explain why. Though none of us were expecting him to dismount, let alone actually speak to us at all. So many thoughts tried forming at once as I looked straight on as I waited to hear what he possibly had to say.

Botan Date: "I am Botan Date, Vampire Lord of the Oshu area. I have come tracking down a group of lesser vampires. They have wrought a path of destruction all the way here, am I right? That was the report I got from my scouts anyway."

My heart skipped several beats as I looked down at my comrades, shocked at the first part of his introduction. I momentarily looked to see if their shock was as equal to mine.

It was, their own was just as shocked and puzzled as me. All my friends could do was shrug their shoulders with a befuddled look. I then looked back down toward the Vampire lord as I proceeded to speak once again.

Kaida Endo: "I have been informed by our scouts last night that a group attacked one of our outlying farmers. They are still near the farm. We have made no efforts yet to kill them fearing infection. We do not wish that upon ourselves."

The Vampire Lord seemed to be severely startled at my wording. His face gave a look of concern at first. Then he appeared to be looking at me even harder than before as he studied me for a few moments. Looking at me carefully, his eyes went wide as a sudden realization seemed to hit him, he began to speak to me once again in a hurried tone.

Botan Date: "You mean to tell me that you are human? An actual human, I do not believe it, way out here. I did not believe it possible this far into the mountains."

Kaida Endo: "We have been isolated here for hundreds of years; we do not leave the mountain. We have no need to. The mountain spirit fox provides us with all we need."

Botan Date: "So I see. May I ask an audience with the chief of your village then? You can bring him here if the first meeting would be more comfortable. Please I implore you. It is most urgent; some things cannot be explained easily."

I pondered his words as I tried to figure out what to do. While I pondered my thoughts, he then made a startling declaration. One I was never even prepared for at all. Let alone one I would never forget in my lifetime. It would be a statement that shook all of us to the very core. Even my friends would never forget this odd encounter as long as they lived, I know I would never.

Botan Date: "Oh my, now that I have gotten closer to you, my, my, it is undeniable, you are our long-lost queen. The aura you emit is undeniable. Please, I beg you, we must speak properly, you and whoever you think you can trust."

My eyes grew wide as I was at a complete and total loss for words. My friends standing at the bottom of the stairs, just staring at me as if I had all the answers to this bizarre set of events. And so, our encounter, we had so dreaded, had come to pass. Both my friends standing there as dumbfounded as I was. Neither knowing what to say to comfort me in this odd situation in which I was clearly a main part of. I began to wonder why they would even say something like that to me. How could I be queen of anything? I am just a mere human as far as I know. But I guess I would find out either way.
