Chapter 21: Javon
They were looking straight into each other's eyes, the whole room felt smaller as they were moving closer, already feeling each other's breath, they were inches away from each other's lips both eyes still connected,the electricity and the sparks were flying all over the place. Just when they were about to...
"Oh my God, Avery" in came sobbing Belle, she was a mess. Avery moved so fast,away from Jamal. Belle jumped on Avery.
"Why are you here, don't you have a shoot to go to? Avery said tapping Belle's back.
Belle looked at her daring her to say something else, she stood up senseing the atmosphere
"Oh my God,I did it again didn't I?"
"Did what? You didn't do anything, nothing was going on" Avery rambled on, then she stopped talking, picked her phone and pretended she wasn't listening.
" Seeing the way you are acting right now and the way you were rambling on, I definitely interrupted something" Belle chuckled.
"Omg, just when you were finally about to receive some action, I totally ruined your hero moment didn't I? Belle asked, this time facing Jamal. Jamal took his phone and acted like he was working.
"I really did" Belle concluded, laughing out loud at the way they were both acting.
" You both are perfect for each other, you both obviously love your work, and the chemistry between you two is undeniable, I mean the tension in this room is so thick" Belle added.
"Your friend is a very stubborn lady, she does not want to admit that we look good together" Jamal said smirking as he put his phone back into his pocket.
"I know right, she's one tough hard nut to crack, you could bring the moon down for her and she still wouldn't waver" Belle chuckled.
"You guys know I'm still here right?" Avery said,but they both ignored her, making fun of her.
Then the doctor came in.
"Hello I'm your doctor for today" the doctor said his eyes glued to the file in his hand, seeing the name of the patient he looked up to see if it was who he knew.
"Avery?"
"Javon!"
"You two know each other?" Jamal asked looking at the doctor who was assigned to Avery.
"I saw what happened to you in your file, are you okay?" Javon genuinely asked looking at her face for any sign of pain, he knew about Avery's past and about how her father used to abuse her physically when she was younger. He knew how she felt about closed spaces and anything that had violence in it.
"I'll be fine" she answered her eyes showing that the event that happened still haunted her.
" If you want to talk about it I'm here and I can call Dr Mildred to talk to you if you're not comfortable talking me" Javon added wanting to make sure.
"I didn't know you went into medicine, I thought you were going into business or something" Avery changed the subject.
Not wanting to push it, Javon went with the flow and answered her.
" Yeah, I went back to get a course in medicine seven years ago, I saw how much less privileged people suffered around the world, so this is me helping out, and yes I'm still very much into business, I volunteer her when I'm in town.
"That's amazing, you must really love your job then" she said.
"Yeah, I do" he smiled.
"Can you show me where you're hurt?" He asked moving closer to where she was.
"Okay, it hurts everywhere here" she pointed at her chest and rib area.
"Here?" He pressed her tummy
"No,not really"
"Here?" He pressed her lower rib cage.
"It hurts" she hissed
"Okay, how about here?" He asked pressing her upper rib cage, just below her right boob.
" It really hurts" she hissed out again, the pervert had given her few punches, when he was trying to get her to cooperate.
Seeing another man talk to and touch Avery like that, brought out an emotion Jamal never thought or knew he possessed, an emotion he hated to admit that he had, JEALOUSY.
"Hello,can you tell us what's wrong with her now?Jamal interrupted,wanting to end whatever it was that was going on between them.
"And you are?" Javon asked after noticing that he wasn't the only male in the room.
"The father of her babies" Jamal said, causing Avery to open her eyes so wide it almost popped out.
"Her babies? I s he telling the truth? Are you married? " Javon asked turning towards Avery.
"No" she replied, not explaining further, cos she definitely didn't owe him one.
"No, he's not the father of your babies or no, you're not married, which is it?" He asked feeling defeated by her answer.
"No as in, I don't owe you an explanation, you were the one who left me remember?" Avery said.
Jamal was so angry to hear that part, how would someone in their right senses leave such an amazing person. He didn't want to come in yet,he wanted her to say everything she wanted to, everything she was holding in. He didn't want her to hate him, and he knew that it'd be worse if he did everything he was thinking of doing, to Javon.
"Would you let me explain what really happened?, the thing is when I..." Javon began to say when he was caught of by Avery.
"I don't want to hear anything else from you, I need a new doctor please" Avery remembered the day she had called him when he was abroad and a girl picked up his phone instead. It was so painful and to think that she used to love him. He was the only guy she had let in, and the fact that he knew what she had gone through and what she felt about guys made it even worse.
"Avery, let me.." Javon tried to say but was cut off by Jamal this time.
"She says she wants a new doctor, get out while I'm still being nice" Jamal said with a deep and scary tone.
"I'm leaving not because of you but because I want to give her some space" Javon said, looking straight into Jamal's eyes and leaving.
