Chapter 1: Only the Beginning
Miya never wanted to be here.
She didn't even like it here. The way the floorboards creaked, the way Trix jumped at his own shadow. Trix had always been a scaredy cat (quite literally), but he had never before been so scared of his shadow.
The wall color didn't match with the ceilings, most of the windows were cracked, if not broken.
Most of all, she hated Mrs. Diane's temper.
Miya had been adopted at the age of twelve to be a simple housekeeper. She cleaned the dishes, cooked food, swept the floors, dusted the bookshelves, and made Mrs. Diane's tea.
That was the hardest task.
"Why is there no sugar in my tea?"
Miya flinched as Mrs. Diane shouted, always being scared of being hit.
"I put four sugar cubes, ma'am."
Mrs. Diane scowled and her hand flew up and hit Miya in the face.
Miya yelped in pain, her cheek was bleeding from where Mrs. Diane's nails scratched her.
"I want five."
Miya nodded and ran out of the room before Mrs. Diane could hit her again. Miya was furious with her Mrs. Diane. So furious infact Miya accidentally put salt in Mrs. Diane's tea.
Trix jumped onto the counter, as if to warn her of giving the tea to Mrs. Diane.
"Go away, Trix, now is not the time!" Miya scolded her cat.
Trix looked at her and pushed the cup of the counter.
"Trix!" Miya shouted regretting it instantly.
"You put salt in the cup!"
Miya blinked at the talking cat.
"MIYA!"
Miya swiveled around to see Mrs. Diane.
"THE BOATHOUSE"
"but-"
"NOW"
