Chapter 19: Build an empire
As soon as father agreed, I called Rou Chen.
"Hey babe!"he answered.
"Hi there. Where are you?" I asked.
"Well, I'm here in hawaii right now enjoying the vacation you gave me," he said.
" That's nice to hear but I want you to get the earliest flight this evening," I said.
"What? Why? I still have three days right? Is there an emergency mission?" he asked.
"Rou I need you," I said.
" Akira babe, is there a problem?"he asked.
"There is but it's a good problem," I said.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I'm going to build an empire that even the government and top circle will hesitate to touch. I will start with my fathers company and combine the businesses I build up. I need you to be my secretary for this," I said.
"Then I'm in it," he said.
"See you tomorrow Rou, "I said.
"Wait. Will I meet you at the HQ or will I go directly to your fathers company?" he asked.
"Come here directly and let me remind you that you need to wear a formal attire," I said.
"Yeah sure," he said.
"Bye," I said and hanged up the phone.
After hanging up, the woman at the front desk or the secretary who sneered at me entered without knocking while carrying a large pile of files.
"Where are your manners?" I asked.
"What?" she asked as if she did nothing wrong.
"Didn't your parents teach you how to knock when entering someones room," I said.
"My hands are full and you expect me to knock?" she asked.
"Tell me your name,"I said.
"Jane Eschant," she answered
"Nice name. Jane, it seems like you still don't know who your boss is," I said.
"It's not like I don't know but I still don't recognize you, " she muttered and I can't blame her. Her attitude is fiesty and not so nice but my father said that she is one of his effecient workers.
"You're barking as if you're the one in control. I'm not going to fire you right away but I will make sure you're going to be a loyal dog to its master," I said in enough tone which can send shivers in her spine.
"Sorry madam. I'm not going to repeat the same mistake," she said with her head lowered.
"Good. Then put those files on my table and leave. I will call you when I need you," I said.
"Yes ma'am," she said and left.
These files are enough to make my mind busy away from unnecessary worries. I focused in reviewing the unsigned contracts first and look for hidden phrases which can jeopardize and put us in a disadvantage situation. I also looked at their feasibility study when it comes to their proposals. Some will increase our profits through investment and some are just trying their best from gaining connections through us. After it, I scanned and read some of our new signed projects with major companies. A folder with the words EDL corporation caught my eye. EDL stands for Eros Drake Loca and the project we're collaborating has something to do with fashion industry. They will provide us artitste and models to wear our clothes.
As far as I know, he is the king of entertainment industry and he has the best professional artist as well as models, singers and dancers.
"Jane are you there?" I said through the intercom.
"Yes Ma'am, " she answered.
"I want you to bring me all the files regarding EDL corporation," I said.
After a few minutes, a knock was heard.
"Come in," I said an Jane entered.
"Ma'am these are the files you needed,"
"Put them on my table and you may leave, " I said without looking at her.
When I start looking at the documents, she organized them from the most relevant to the least. She's really good at her job.
