Chapter 14: I Will Come For Them
When Akira arrived at the mansion, her mother is already waiting for her.
"You're early," mother smiled as she hugged me.
"Yes Mom. Father said he needs to tell me something before the introduction ceremony," I said.
"That father of yours is such a worry wart. He nags and talks more now that he is older. He is in his study room and I'm sure that he is waiting for you," Mom said and I excused myself. When I was supposed to knock on the door, I can hear two persons arguing but I can't distinguished what they're arguing about so I just slightly opened it.
"Brother, how can you make that woman be your successor? I've work for you and the company for more than a decade and you expect me to just kept quiet about this? How about me and my daughter?" Anton, which is my fathers brother, ranted.
"Anton, I have my own reasons for doing this," Dad said.
"Bullshit those reasons. She doesn't even have a single drop of blood from us. Don't you know the phrase- Blood is thicker than water?" my uncle shouted.
"Watch your words Anton. She is my daughter and no one, not even you, can question that. Don't ever argue with me against this matter again or else...." Dad said but was cut off by uncle.
"Or else what? Don't make me lost my mind Jake. You still don't know what I'm fully capable of doing," My uncle said and he turned his back from my father.
"Stupid Trash," he said when he looked and passed me by the door.
"Thank you for the compliment," I said just to agitate and taunt him more.
"Idiot," I heard him mutter and he continued walking out of the door.
"What a pleasant thing to hear upon coming," I said as I entered chuckling in my fathers room.
"Don't mind him," my father said.
"Father how can I not mind him when he's always complimenting me every time he sees me," I said with the sweetest smile I can make.
"They don't know your contributions in the company. You are the brain and backbone because without you, our profits will not even increase by ten percent every two months," father said.
"I'm flattered," I said flatly.
"Rara, it's true. Where else can we find someone who is a good financial consultant as you," father said.
"You still have Vangie, uncles daughter, you know?" I said.
"Do you want our company to go down? That spoiled brat doesn't know a single thing about managing a business," Dad said glaring at me.
"Fine, fine! Why did you call me?"I asked father.
"Rara, I just want to remind you that after I introduce you tonight, you will be an important public figure, thus, a lot of people will target you," Dad said.
"Dad don't worry I can easily handle them and I can even organize my own security team," I assured him.
"Only a few know what you're capable of and they will look down on you. Even the elites might not respect you," Dad said worriedly.
"Dad, respect is supposed to be earned, not demanded. They can look down on me and talk behind my back but I don't care. Who do they think they are? Before they think of getting on my bad side, I will show them who's in control on what will happen to their businesses. I will come for them before they even start something stupid," I said.
"That's my daughter," my dad said proudly.
"Dad, don't worry. I will improve our company better," I said confidently.
"I know you can. It was me who knew that you're a prodigy when it comes to business. Now hurry and go prepare for the party," Dad says and I did what he said.
