Chapter 12: Seven Years Ago
An invitation was sent at Eros Drake Loca's office. It was stated that the Shane Corporation would finally introduce their heir or successor on the public this day.
"Erwan, are you there?" Eros said.
"Yes boss," Erwan answered.
"Come inside," I said and a handsome young man entered.
"I thought the Shane Corporation doesn't have any child? Do you have any idea who the heir is?" I asked.
" I don't have any idea who the heir is but the public is aware that they have an adopted child," he said.
" If they decided to make the adopted child the successor, there might be internal power struggle soon. I heard that the CEO has a brother who helps him run the company," I said.
"Yes and his brother have a daughter too. They were supposed to announce that their adopted daughter would be the heir seven years ago but it didn't resume and no additional announcement was divulged to the public," he said.
"I see. Seven years is enough to let his brother establish good relations in their company's investors. You may leave now," I said.
"How about an escort this time?" he asked.
"Erwan, have you ever seen me going public with an escort?" I said with a chilling voice.
"No Sir," Erwan said and goes out immediately to avoid the chilling temperature.
The mentioned seven years ago made me feel guilty and regret was filling my heart. Seven years ago was the most critical and most devastating part of my life. I asked the woman I loved abort our child on impulse. I knew that losing her would be the most stupid, dumbest and idiotic thing I did. That time, I was ready to take the risk even though I just made my name on the youngest billionaire who established his own business. She called me to talk about something that was supposed to be joyous news but before going on the location where we were supposed to talk, I needed to drop by my sister's home. The scene that I witnessed there has changed my views on women and unwanted words came out of my mouth when I talked to her.
By the time I came to my senses, it was too late. I tried to look for her but it seems her existence has been erased. There were times that I just let myself think that it was a beautiful dream that turned into a nightmare and I needed to wake up but I've seen her again. The moment i see her at the school where Mikhaela goes, my world begin to shine and my heart started beating again. I was supposed to hug her and tell her how I've missed her but my mouth talked faster than what my mind can processed. After telling her those harsh words, she became pale and hurt flashed in her eyes before she can conceal it. She look at me like a stranger this time and not the loving stare she used to give me.
"Erwan, are you still their?" I asked.
"Yes boss," he said and then entered the room.
"How was the search going? Have you found her?" I asked.
"I'm sorry boss but no matter how hard we searched, we can't find a single clue about her. Everytime our techies find something that might let us trace her, our system will start to collapse and different types of virus start attacking us," Erwan explained.
" Tell them that I'm not paying them a hefty amount of money without getting the information I needed. Tell them to do their job faster or else they know what would happen to them. I don't have enough time and patience," I said.
"I will," erwan answered.
" Prepare me my clothes and a gift," I commanded.
" What gift would you like me to prepare?" he asked.
"Get the latest jewelry from a known designer. Shane Corporation is something that we can't take lightly. We need to establish relationship that must benefit us rather than being their enemy,"I said.
"Then I will go now and make necessary preparations," Erwan said and I just nodded.
