Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Learning Magic

Ten years had passed since the day of the attacks which led to the fall of the Flare. Alina and her remaining forces had taken refuged in a small village deep in Lorrin Forest and their child, Jun, has been studying magic from Lily which she so kindly offered. They usually conduct their classes below a tree at the outskirt of the village.

[Lily: Now pay attention, the law of magic followed the law of nature very strictly. What I meant by that is if something that you wanted to create through magic does not follow the law of nature then it cannot be created]

(Confused Jun staring at Lily)

Noticing that Jun is a little confused, Lily takes a few seconds to think and decided to take a different approach:

(Lily drew out mana from her both hands)

[Lily: Takes fire for example. To start a fire, three conditions must be met. Can you tell me what's those conditions are, little Jun?]

(Jun answered the questions with a joyful voice as he knew the answers)

[Jun: Heat, fuel, and air!]

[Lily: That is correct, only when all three of this conditions are met and only shall fire be created. As for magic, your mana will play the role of the fuel needed to start the fire.]

[Jun: But, what about the heat? Where does the heat come from?]

[Lily: Ah, nice observation little Jun and the answer is, it is drawn from the surrounding.]

[Jun: But, will that be enough?]

[Lily: No silly. After drawing a little hit from the surrounding, you need to enhance the heat to be sufficient enough to create-]

(The mana from both Lily's hand light up and it turned in to fire)

[Lily: Fire. Tada!]

[Jun: Big sis Lily always make things fun hahaha.]

Seeing the sparkle in Jun's eyes made Lily smile, but that sparkle did not last long and Lily was confused by it

[Lily: What's the matter kiddo?]

[Jun: Fire can hurt people and I don't like it when people got hurt.]

[Lily: Why do you hate it when people got hurt?]

[Jun: People cry and people won't be happy?]

[Lily: So, do you like me to teach you a spell that can help people and make people happy?]

[Jun: YES!]

(Jun's eyes sparkle again)

[Lily: Alright, alright. Now let's see... how about a spell that can prevent people from getting hurt?]

[Jun: That would be great, Big sister!]

(Jun walked and stand super close to Lily and which she responded by pushing him away)

[Lily: Alright kiddo, I know you are excited but I need some space to show you how it is done. (Even though I don't really mind it because he is so cute<3)

[Lily: Now, the magical spell that I'm going to show you is called Barrier magic.]

[Jun: Oh, you mean the same one that is protecting the village?]

[Lily: Smart boy. Yes, however the one that I'm going to teach you is a different version of it.]

(Jun nodded)

[Lily: Let us start by cupping our hand like we are holding a ball. Slowly, we introduce our mana into it and mold it into the shape of a ball.]

[Jun: Done.]

[Lily: Good. Now, for a starter, close your eyes and imagine this ball is getting thicker.]

[Jun: Create Barrier!]

[Lily: As the ball get- wait what?!]

Out of Lily's expectation, a transparent ball was floating in the middle of Jun's hands. The reason Jun was able to cast it in his first try was due to his when he watched her mother Alina cast the barrier to protect the village, he would often try to mimic her mom in secret even though none of his attempts were successful.

[Jun: Wow, I did it.]

[Lily: How did you know how to create a barrier let alone the incantation of the spell?]

[Jun: I always try to make one whenever mama did it. But, I this is the first time I had successfully create one though.]

[Lily: Silly, to make the one your mother had created takes a lot of mana and skills to cast it. But for a starter like you, casting a barrier in your first try is not an easy feat (Even I didn't get it on my first try and I'm Sun elf which is blessed with arcane). Here, have some cookies]

[Jun: Yeah!!]

[Lily: Now the size of the barrier can be adjusted based on the amount and the rate of which you transfer your mana into it. This process is called, Link.]

[Jun: Link?]

[Lily: That's right, by linking yourself to the barrier, you can keep on supply your mana and keep the barrier from breaking and increase the size of it. However-]

[Jun: Ah-]

(Jun's barrier broke and collapsed)

[Lily: Transfering too much mana at the one time will cost the barrier to break as you can see.]

(Jun quickly create another barrier in his hands)

[Lily: The key to making the barrier bigger, is to transfer the mana fast but at a smaller surface area and the key of maintaining it is to do it slowly and give more mana at one time.]

After a few constitutive tries, Jun was able to create and maintain a barrier big enough to fit 5 persons for a limited time of 15 minutes before his mana exhaust. After the training, Lily and Jun would head back to the village and joined up with his mother Alina. In the evening, Jun would spend his time playing with his friends around the village which they sometimes ended up doing something mischief and get scolded by the elder villagers. At night, Jun would ask his mother to train him at night on other aspects of magic such as healing and enchantment or teach him the letter of the glyph for runes placement. This had being part of Jun's for the coming five years which led to Jun being very proficient to the supportive magic.
