Chapter 5: Welcome Flame...

The Throne welcomes you Flame...

[SEARCHING FOR SUITABLE LEGENDS…]

[CANDIDATE FOUND!]

[INITIALISING RECRUITMENT OF LEGEND..]

The House he purchased after finally getting himself to confess and propose to her laid quiet now. The housekeeper he hired was already on a new job from what he had heard, his wife was already gone a year earlier, his first kid travelling the world like he once wanted as a small boy, his second kid was busy learning all there was and he was preparing to leave this world and join his wife on the other side. While laying in bed for his final moments he reminisced back to his life went from an aspiring young boy to rising through the military ranks, stopping a monster in man's flesh from sacrificing the whole country to marrying her after all these years they spent together, achieving his dream and finally to retire in a slightly changed country and enjoy his time with his wife.

As the moon rose to it's zenith and it's calming and cool rays lit up his face, he knew his time was done. Before he fell asleep one last time his last words were: "Now, let's see what is behind that gate Fullmetal talked about."

As he opened his eyes he found himself in an endless white void with a massive golden gate in front of him. What immediately caught his eye was the strange man before the gate, the man wore a classic black suit, white gloves like his minus the alchemy circle, long dark blue hair tied in a ponytail and most strikingly a white half-mask with dark blue engravings.

With a bow the masked man greeted: "Welcome to the Gate of Truth, Flame Alchemist! While I'm sure you want to reunite with your wife and best friend behind the gate, might I interest you in a drink and a little deal?" While the strange man seemed suspicious and that's coming from him! He saw nothing wrong with a drink before being probably nagged by Riza for drinking. Chuckling to himself he followed the strange man through a new wooden door and found himself inside a high-class bar-lounge.

After sitting down and tasting the drink the man prepared for him he finally remembered to ask: "So what kind of deal do you want to make with a dead man? Because I can't think of many things I'm capable of now."

"And that is where you are oh so wrong my dear guest. I'm here to ask you permission to record your legend into the Velvet Throne, mind you that includes both the good things you've done in life like stopping Father on the Promised Day but also the bad like your massacre of the people of Ishval. And since we do need an equivalent exchange the benefit of it would be neither you nor any of you friends may ever be forgotten, not Riza Hawkeye Mustang, not the Elric brothers, not your subordinates and of course not Maes Hughes. That is the deal I offer you Flame Alchemist."

"Well it would certainly be better if the people forgot for what I got that damn title of Hero of Ishval" he said with a heavy sigh "But it would be nice to give Pride and Father one last punch in the face and be remembered instead of them. Fine you got yourself a deal, where do I sign?"

With a wave over the counter a contract appeared and was quickly signed. After he emptied his glass he turned to open the door and just as his hand was on the handle the man bowed and bid him farewell with the words: "Welcome once again to the Velvet Throne, Flame Alchemist – Roy Mustang!"

After leaving the bar and crossing through the Gate of Truth he thought about the Elric brothers: 'I really hope I don't have to see them too soon'
