Chapter 7: Lighting the Way

Yin Yu glanced at the wind chime that was making beautiful sounds as the wind blew onto it. Looking at it for a few more moments, Yin Yu shifted his gaze back to Xia Lixue.

"Alright."

Xia Lixue's eyes brightened. "You must be hungry, why don't I make you some food? After eating, I'll make a new wind chime for you."

Yin Yu nodded. Then, they both went inside the house.

While Xia Lixue went to the kitchen to prepare some food, Yin Yu was sitting at a table in the dining room. He had one of his elbows on the table as his hand supported his head. With his eyes lowered and his long eyelashes creating a shadow against his pale skin, Yin Yu looked especially lazy but with a rare charm shown on his indifferent face.

When he was 100 years old, he found out that he was missing half of his soul. But with that missing half, he had somebody's other half. In heaven, it was a crime to separate one's own soul and give it to another person. That was because it was against the way of one's own destiny and their red string of fate.

In his previous lifetime, he committed such a big crime. Yin Yu smiled. 'Just perfect.'

Not long after that, Xia Lixue came in with two bowls of food. One was filled with rice while the other was filled with stir-fried vegetables. She smiled sweetly. "Li Yin, hurry and eat. It will be cold soon."

Yin Yu stopped leaning on his head and sat up straight. He looked at the food that was placed right in front of him. How long has it been since he's eaten anything that only mortals without any nor high cultivation eat?

Standing up from his seat, Yin Yu said, "No appetite."

Xia Lixue reached out to Yin Yu's arm and made him sit down again. "I used to not be good at cooking and I worked hard just to create this simple dish. I want you to know that I've improved."

Sitting right next to Yin Yu, Xia Lixue picked up the chopsticks on the table and used it to get some rice from the bowl. She then tried to feed Yin Yu by bringing the chopsticks close to Yin Yu's mouth. "Li Yin, just one bite. Okay?"

Yin Yu smiled as he looked at Xia Lixue's face.

Xia Lixue lightly blushed as she asked, "Why are you staring at me so intently?"

"Nothing." Yin Yu began, "Just that it's almost laughable that you want me to stay here forever."

"Wh-What do you mean?"

Yin Yu was patient enough to answer her question. "After eating the food from here, I can't go back. Right?"

Although it looks like Yin Yu was asking her a question, his tone when he said that was of one that is only stating a fact.

After hearing Yin Yu said that, Xia Lixue's heart started to beat fast. She tried to smile to hide it, "I don't get it."

Yin Yu shifted his gaze away from Xia Lixue. He stood up as he said. "Nothing. I'm only making things up. I'm not hungry."

Then, Yin Yu proceeded to walk out of the dining room.

Xia Lixue looks at Yin Yu's back as his figure gets further and further away. There was pain and hurt in her eyes. She then looks at the food on the table. As rage started to overwhelm her from the inside, Xia Lixue harshly shoved it off the table.

'Li Yin. Since I couldn't have you during those times, this lifetime I'll do anything just to have you!'

Meanwhile, Yin Yu walked around. As he did, he came upon a room full of books. Walking into the room and seeing piles upon piles of books on shelves and on the walls, Yin Yu randomly grabbed a book from one of the shelves. Looking at the title on the cover book, it said: Soul Preserving Ghost.

Walking a few more steps, Yin Yu chose another random book. This time, the title was: Devouring Blood of Eternity.

In the next 10 minutes, all Yin Yu did was repeat what he has been doing. Not long, in his hands was a pile of books he picked randomly from the shelves.

Walking to the middle of the room where there is a low table for one to write or read, Yin Yu placed all the books he had chosen on the table as he sat down on the ground. Picking up one of the books from the pile, Yin Yu flipped to the first page and started to read.

After a few hours of reading, the sky started to turn dark. The candle was lit and the book Yin Yu was reading was already his 69th one.

Xia Lixue came as she held something in her hand. It was making a really beautiful sound as she brought it to Yin Yu cheerfully. "Li Yin, look! I finished making this one just for you. What do you think?"

Yin Yu looked at the wind chime on her hand and replied indifferently, "It's okay."

Xia Lixue then put the wind chime down to the table and sat right next to Yin Yu. "So...The promise you made with me this morning…"

Yin Yu closed the book and then gently put it to the side. Grabbing onto Xia Lixue's shoulders with both his hands, Yin Yu pushed her down as her back lay against the ground and got on top of her.

Some long strands of Yin Yu's hair fell to his shoulders and some right next to his cheeks, making his appearance extremely alluring at this moment. Yin Yu looked at the woman below him and leaned down.

Xia Lixue's heart was beating fast. She was brimming with happiness. Closing her eyes as she waited for the kiss that's to come, she smiled inwardly, 'Finally. I can finally be one with him.'

But, as Yin Yu's lips were just one inch away from her's, Yin Yu opened his eyes and swiftly grabbed onto one of the jade hairpins on her hair. Getting what he needed, Yin Yu got up and left the room at a speed that can't be seen through the naked eyes.

Xia Lixue was still waiting for the kiss. However, a minute passed, and then another minute passed but still no kiss. Feeling something amiss, Xia Lixue opened her eyes. Immediately, she was stunned and quickly sat up.

'Where's Li Yin?!'

Meanwhile, Yin Yu had already set up a spell from the outside. With this spell, no matter what Xia Lixue tries to do, she'll never be able to get out of the house unless Yin Yu revokes the spell. With just a tap of his foot, Yin Yu had already jumped to the roof. He grabbed the wind chime dangling from one of the edges of the roof and took out his sword. Throwing the wind chime up in the air, Yin Yu slashed at it with his sword.

As the wind chime was split in half mid-air, dozens of orbs of light floated.

With the wind chime broken, the house started to go back to its original form. Instead of a new and clean house, it was messy and old like an abandoned house. Even the windows and doors were broken down to the ground.

The flowers and green grasses started to withered. Meanwhile, the clear waterfall turned a dark and dirty color. It was as if there were no life, to begin with.

All life here was supported by this wind chime and Yin Yu had guessed right. But, what caught Yin Yu off guard was the orbs of light inside the wind chime. It seems, even the mortal realm still has many things he has yet to know of.

Just thinking this made Yin Yu excited. Maybe there is still a way to accomplish what he always wanted.

Then, all the orbs of light started to move in the same direction. Yin Yu raised his brow slightly and decided to follow the orbs of light.

As Yin Yu was following closely behind, the orbs of light suddenly went through the waterfall.

Yin Yu flew over to the waterfall and stopped in front of it. Raising his sword, Yin Yu sliced towards it all in one small action as a beam of powerful light coming from his sword sliced the waterfall in half.

Boom!

Behind the waterfall was a cave and Yin Yu narrowed his eyes. After flying inside to the cave and passing through, the waterfall finally responded half a minute later and began pouring down normally again.

Landing on the ground, Yin Yu continued to follow the orbs of light by walking. As he continued to walk deeper, his heart started to beat faster than normal.

Yin Yu frowned. 'I am actually nervous? Me, a god?'

Yin Yu found it laughable as he sneered. No matter if he's nervous or not, he'll just keep going and see where these orbs will bring him to.

Finally, the cave led to a dead end in a large spacious area as the dozens of orbs of light stopped. However, instead of just staying stagnant, the orbs of light turned even brighter than before, lighting up the whole dark cave with its light.

Yin Yu looked at the middle of this spacious area and saw a slightly raised circular stone platform. In the middle of the stone platform was a woman in a plain snow robe. Both her legs and hands were chained up with long ancient chains.

When she noticed somebody was near, she weakly supported herself and sat up. The moment when she looked up and saw who it was, she was shocked.

Not just a second later and tears started to stream down her cheeks. When she wanted to say something, she started to choke with sobs.

Yin Yu felt his chest tightened. He clenched his fist tightly and could only remain silent.

It was her...

Do you all think Yin Yu just have no interest in *papapa* or he's impotent? Lmao. No worries, he's perfectly normal. And strong in night activities too.

*wink wink*
