Chapter 9: A Dream Or Premonition?

Stirring, Theia felt herself enveloped by warmth in her dream, like a warm fur pelt was draped around her. In the dream, she was much older, not a baby, but as herself. Thin black hair falling to her midriff, and light brown eyes, but in front of her sat a large lake.

She couldn't control her body as she looked in, her reflection was that of a woman with silvery eyes that rivaled the brightest gems, and long blue hair, her body dressed in fine silk clothes, and behind her was a large beast, she couldn't make out the animal, but it's fur was pure white, or rather, silver.

Reaching into the water, she tried to tell herself not to, but she did regardless, as all of a sudden her reflection, the woman, grabbed at her aggressively and pulled her in, making her see black before opening her eyes again, this time as the woman, and the beast beside her. The fur begun to smother her, almost so realistically as she gripped at it, digging her nails in to rip it off her.

It was a tail, but her vision became blurry as she gasped out the first thing which came to mind, "Sit." Her voice was barely audible, but the beast sat as its tail fell, resting by her feet, and a collar and leash appeared in her hands. She managed to regain her breath, only for the floor under her to fall into what seemed to be a purple void and the leash broke apart into shining stars, filling it up with constellations.

Waking up her vision stung by wet tears dripping down her cheeks, cries escaping her mouth. "My lady!" She heard a sudden gasp and a maid rushed over to her, picking her up to soothe her. Her dream felt extremely surreal, but it was still a dream regardless, as her reality was this novel world she was stuck in.

Having her tears wiped, she could tell it was morning by the lights and sun shining through the windows, and wondered how long it had been. "I'll take care of her." She heard the voice of her brother, already picking her up and sitting on their mother's bed, except she wasn't there.

He was still wearing the eyepatch, she didn't blame him, he did get stabbed through the eye by a psychopath. "Good afternoon," She heard him murmur, taking her to his chest as he called one of the maids over. "Bring her some milk, I'll feed her."

Bowing, one of the maids obeyed as he asked another for a comb, and begun to comb her hair, albeit badly. Whenever one of the maids tried to get close, his glare made them quiet. Just what happened while she was asleep? "Don't touch her, or I'll chop off your fingers next. Bring her crib to my room now that she's awake."

After finishing his sentence, he left the room with her head tucked into his chest, not once looking back at the blood spewed on the floors behind the other side of the bed he caused. Instead, he was far too focused on taking care of her for the time being.

It seemed to just be a family trait to walk in silence, or perhaps he just didn't want to talk to a baby. After awhile of walking, "Seventh brother!" she heard a male shout out, one of the voices she heard talking earlier during dinner about Penelope. "Is it true that you're participating in the hunt?"

A boy with short caramel brown hair appeared, slinging his arm around Isaac's neck, giving him a noogie. "Careful," he hissed, tightening his hold on her only for the other guy to back off, instead, crouching down to stare at her, poking her nose repeatedly, then squishing her cheeks. "Would you refrain, third brother."

Ignoring him, the other boy continued to squish her. "Wrong brother. She's so squishy, no wonder you're hiding her all for yourself, even ruining my gift how ungrateful." She had no clue what was happening, but was ready to bite his finger if he brought it near her mouth one more time.

"You're lying, again," he hissed taking a step back and now walking towards the opposite direction as the boy followed. "Aww, Einsy," the other male continued to poke at him, but after a lack of reaction left.

Originally, he planned to do some swords practice, but after the encounter he decided to stay in the library and focus on studying, he would need to learn as much about the beasts the previous hunt would let out. Not only that, but just what kind of person was a Beast Tamer. He didn't have any chance to ask his mother, already rushed to the infirmary.

Whatever it was, if the Duke saw value in it, it must be strong. The first wife's son had already made her move, trying to kill off Theia last night as a welcoming gift, if she was announced to have some kind of power which posed a threat they would most definitely attempt to kill her again out of pure entertainment.

"Bobu." She called out, gripping his hair. His face was leaned down slightly but didn't move for nearly a minute. She had no clue what he was thinking, but it was probably not too good. "I'm going to win, and I'm going to ensure mother will survive this terrible event. One day, I'm going to become the Duke and kill off this family."

She never felt fear of her brother so far, but this was enough to make her process he was on the same level as them. She needed to take his advice. Great magical affinity and bloodlust, like a true Argyris, nothing less from a villain son. Just how did someone like him die during the original?

Opening the large doors to the library, she could see from wall to wall to an extremely tall ceilings the Ute amount of books. No one else was in the place, just the two of them as he begun searching for anything regarding beast magic. The more wind he created and blew, he couldn't spot anything regarding them, he would of thought someone stole them if anyone else actually cared to look at the library.

"Mother is a beast tamer, and all the wives have family records within the library. Just where is her's?" He muttered aloud, an odd feeling welling up within her as she recalled her dream of the silver beast. After the night they both had, the two were equally exhausted, but the day had just truly begun.

Panting, a maid burst into the room, the same one she recall picking her up. "Young master Isaac! The young lady has awakened." her voice rang out as she was panting and nearly collapsing to her knees, Isaac immediately placing each book back.
